I would give 0 stars if could. The lady that checked me out today was rude and short. She also charged me for 3 cups of ice when my water jug only needed 1.5 cups of ice. When I told her she overcharged me, she didn’t offer to refund me or apologize for her mistake.

Hippos offerings are small, yet common. Support small businesses, and they prosper; eventually offering greater diversity. I love coming to small businesses when I’m in the bigger cities.

Outstanding! Here in the center of downtown hustle and bustle is a delightful little deli with the essentials you need so desperately when you don’t have them. Great sandwiches for a good price, fruits, some good wholesome snack food and even a selection of stuff to microwave. This quaint and very clean place is a treasure to any business traveler or tourist. I bought a decent chef salad and a chicken sandwich for $ 11.50. Portions were a good size, well, I will go further than that. They were LARGE for that price in that location! Wish they were open till ten, but I doubt if they get enough business to justify the cost. Please patronize this place. I want them to be open when I come back on my next trip!

Searching for a grocery in San Antonio was difficult — if you have access to a car, I’d highly recommend heading to Walmart. We went after a holiday and there just wasn’t much for us to pick up. And the price! We picked up more groceries at Walmart and paid a bit less. Granted, if this is your only option, it’s better than eating out every day.

I’m currently on a business trip to San Antonio and I’m staying in one of those extended stay hotels with the full kitchenette(stove, pots and pans, silverware, sink, etc). I am so glad I found this little gem of a grocery store because, to tell you the truth, I get so tired of restaurant food when I’m on these trips. Not only is restaurant chow higher in calories and fat(not to mention the larger portions), but I’m a type-1 diabetic and an all-restaurant diet can have a double whammy on me. So I picked up some chicken for tonight, a steak, and some fish for some other nights. Hippo’s also has a decent produce department, so I also picked up some fruit and veggies. I also picked up some bread and cereal. I know my hotel has breakfast included but some mornings I just want to sit in my jammies and have a bowl of cereal and some milk or an English muffin. And I love what their ad says, «We may not have 15 different varieties of baby wipes but we’ve got baby wipes.» Okay, I’m childless and I don’t need baby wipes but you get the idea. I’m telling you, if you’re traveling with the kiddies or if your on an extended trip, this place fills the bill.
