Great little yarn shop with some absolutely lovely yarns. I fell in love with all the colors and textures. The staff was incredibly friendly and got to meet Shannon after being told about her store by some friends. I especially love the leave a bit, take a bit basket! What a great idea! Highly recommend and a nice addition to the area. It is on the small side but it’s an incredibly cozy feel.

I’m allergic to wool and had been shopping around for non-wool quality yarn. This store has great selection and the people who work there were very nice, showings me the yarns without being pushy. I walked out of there with enough yarn for my next proyect and I’ll be there again. I see that many people come from out of town, I’m lucky I’ll just have drive 20 min to get my supplies!

I love this place. The yarn & price selection range from very cost effective to cashOMGmere.

Best selection of mid range yarns like Arucania, Debbie Bliss, Jupitermoons Farms, and Painted Desert. One of the largest selections of notions, needles, and hooks around AND a good select of beads for beaded project. Add to this that they regularly host Texas Indie dyers and carry locally crafted stitch markers and ergo crochet hooks as well as knitting needles. There are lots of shop samples made from yarns they carry. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, affordable classes for all learning levels, makes Inskein one of the best shops in the San Antonio metro area. Plenty of parking, great hours, and easy to find right off Bandera Rd.

Wow… Lots of yarn. Yarn I have never seen. Vegan, denim, t-shirt, and a ton more. I T’s the owner(a cool crazy lady) I feel unworthy of her wares cuz in a new knitter. She made me feel welcome and was sure to invite me to the store knit night called Asylum(Lol!!). And she was super nice to my kids. Great store! Gonna have to hang out here. Maybe my knitting will improve by association.

Inskein is now past it’s one year make since opening it’s doors. Although it started off small the selection is growing. You’ll find Juniper Moon, Viking of Norway, Frolicking Feet and so many other great mid-range yarns. They have a great selection of Encore and Galway too! For needles they have Chiaogoos, Kollages, and Brittany. Classes are plentiful each month and reasonably priced. Their store hours re the best in town!

I was finally able to get in for the asylum knitting group and had a great time hanging out with the ladies who were there that day. I also got some fabulous felting quality wool and square knitting needles for various Christmas gifts to send to my family members, all at a great price. I can’t wait to go in again to work on my projects and start entering pieces in new«Stash Bet» contests(you«buy in» with a skein of yarn from your stash and the winners split the collection of buy in yarn) they run regularly.

I happened upon this shop while I was on my way somewhere else but I had to stop. It’s a small shop but has a good selection, they sell square needles and the young lady working was amazing. I walked out with some sale yarn and a set if square needles ready to be knit away. Their class prices are very reasonable and I will get over there for a class on crochet soon.

I was so THRILLED to see a yarn store!!! I’m so sick of the crappy selection at the«big box store» & the hobby shops. They have beautiful yarns here & the employees were very friendly. I can hardly wait to go back!

I have to say that I’m thoroughly impressed by the selection of yarn and notions at this store. The owner is fantastic. The community involvement is great. There is always something going on with this store. They have Asylum every Monday and Wednesday Night from 6 – 8 and Tuesday mornings from 10 – 12. This is a great time to sit around and talk with my fellow crocheters(oh and those knitting people) while I work on my latest project. And now they are adding a Charity Asylum on Thursdays from 3 – 5 for people to concentrate time to make charity items. In June there was a Knitting/Crochet Along where we all made Minion hats then saw Despicable Me 2 together after getting ice cream. This month, August, we are making market bags then meeting at the Pearl Brewery to venture the Farmer’s Market together. These ladies have made it fun! Oh, did I mention all the recycled material yarns and natural fiber yarns. I mean — AWESOME! Love it!
