Terrible bteakfast tacos not even a bite of eggs and only a small piece of bacon. It was like they had only 1 egg to stretch it for 6 I am not kidding. Do not go there. The two women who were there acted like it was an imposition to wait on me. A disgrace to San Antonio mexican food. Yuc

Under New Management! Having come here for almost 5 years, my wife and I were sad to see the old owners go away. They were very friendly and generous. The new management have given the place a paint job and a new menu with lots more on it. They were very friendly, but the jury is still out on the food. My Huarache wasn’t the same, and the other items we ordered didn’t meet our expectations. Maybe the new owners will find a groove that works for them, but we’ve bid this restaurant farewell.

La Choza, bitters and nakoma. Whoever said all good things must end, was dead on correct! I went in this morning for my huevos a la mexicana on corn(maize) breakfast tacos with my usual unsweet tea. It’s always under 5.00. I always leave the change in the tip jar. Then today the world has spun on it’s axis, a meteor shower has focused it’s radioactive meteors into my world. Today, my total was $ 5.17. I asked the girl at the counter what was up with the new total as i look at the menu to see if anything has changed. nothing has changed EXCEPT, THEYNOWCHARGE .35FORTHETOGOCUP!!! It’s not on the menu, not posted anywhere and I wasn’t going to be told had I not asked. Yep, I’m done. That petty, greedy, under the table move has cost them my business, my bad review on Food Critic San Antonio Facebook page here and yes, my next move is Unilocal and wherever else that i can spread this backstabbing, thieving establishment until it goes out of business!!!

I read awesome reviews so I came here for lunch excited about the homemade tortillas. I got a bean and cheese and it is the nastiest bean and cheese I’ve ever had. You can’t really mess up a bean and cheese and they somehow managed to do that with their heb store bought tortillas and nasty canned beans. Oh and they didn’t have avocado. It was really hot and humid inside too. I have no clue how this place has so many great reviews. NEVER going there again.

Truly a hidden gem. Casual Mexican restaurant. I had the Nopales and Egg with Guajillo Sauce and it was so good. The dish was not greasy. And the handmade corn tortillas were one of the best I had in San Antonio.

I’ve never had an issue at this place. They make homemade tortillas, corn and flour. I’m vegetarian so I don’t eat the normal menu stuff, but their beans, potato, and avocado tacos are delish. They are always quick and helpful. Reasonable pricing with a 3 taco special price as some places do if you order the same tacos. Homemade green and red salsa also very good.

I went for lunch today on the good faith of my fellow Unilocalers. It had some good reviews. I had their lunch special which were beef empanadas. I had asked the waiter ahead of time if the empanadas had potatoes in them. He said they were picadillo empanadas and they did have potatoes. Well they did not. It was more like ground beef in a tomato sauce with not much flavoring. Also I did not get ice in my tea when refilled. Being the tea sits out it was hot. All I can say is that it is average. I was the only one there at the time. Place was EMPTY!

I agree with all the other posters. The place looks like a dump from the outside and the intersection at their parking lot is a nightmare! But the food is outrageously good, super friendly service and the food … OMG. We travel to Mexico several times a year and this is exactly like the food we eat on the streets of Puerto Vallarta. And a BIG bonus for me, this is one of the few places in all of SA that serves lengua(tongue) tacos for breakfast! And not just any lengua… the best I’ve ever had. Note: when a place is full of cops and construction workers at lunch time you KNOW it’s good :-)

I had just left my place and started to get hungry. Did not plan on eating that early but the stomach saw a sign that showed«Fideo» as a special. I love me some good Fideo. So I pulled in. Tiny little place on the corner, decorated painted windows, simple interior. But lemme tell ya… My server approached with a great attitude, and took the order for Fideo and Carne Guisda. Yes, I was that hungry Thank you… This is some of the best fideo I have ever had. Great seasoning, right amount of beans and beef with the pasta. I could have devoured another bowl. The carne guisda(photo) was not so exciting. Flavor was bland and sauce on the beef was very watery, I am used a bit thicker consistency, but it was ok. Prices are great here, the tea was very good and fresh. It’s the service that will keep me coming back. Tell em Touchet sent ya.

Wonderful, reasonably priced breakfast tacos that the whole office will love. I took these to work one morning and they disappeared quickly.(And the people in my office have discriminating tastes. When I tried taking Taco Cabana tacos to work, only half disappeared, and they did so slowly.) Each time I’ve come, they’ve been surprisingly fast for such a small operation. When I ordered for the whole office, I expected at least a 15 minute wait, but they must have gotten my 16 tacos out in five minutes. Very impressive! The service is also extremely friendly and polite. Everyone I’ve encountered at the counter has been very sweet. They have delicious beans here and the salsas are nice and spicy, even the red one. Be sure to get plenty if you plan on sharing with your coworkers! They’ll love you forever!

Lived down the road or this place for years and never thought about going in. Boy was that a mistake! We have been VERY disappointed in the new thousand oaks café on jones maltsberger and decided to try la choza this past Saturday. It was clean and the staff was friendly. We ordered and were quickly served. The food was wonderful and on previous reviews the issue seemed to be that they don’t have homemade tortillas… well now they do. Do yourself a flavor and try them out.

I think we have found our new regular Mexican joint. Good food, at a great price. The place isn’t fancy, but man do they have good food. Small little mom and pop kind of place with a decent menu. Pay attention to what the special of the day is on the board. With that said, the downside would be, getting in and out of the parking lot at that intersection, and then the big one; NOMARGARITA’S. :(

Had the huevos divorciados, which is eggs over easy covered in two different sauces. Both were excellent. The potatoes were very well seasoned, and the refried beans were exactly what I wanted. Really good food, cheap, and quick.

At Blossom Center for an event and had an excellent authentic plate of huevos divorciados with red and green sauces split by a slice of queso fresco. All for less than five bucks and homemade tortillas on top of that!

They have a nice little place where you can actually sit and enjoy your food and company. They give excellent service and the food is served fast and hot. My favorite dish is the Migas.

Had a nice Saturday breakfast this week. I’ve been visiting La Choza for over a year now and I’m a fan. A small, fast, super clean, family-run, low-cost, consistently good place for breakfast and lunch. Migas, huevos rancheros, breakfast tacos, chicken tacos are all good. The have great red and green sauce — plenty spicy. They don’t make their own corn or flour tortillas so they don’t get my highest rating. Not as famous as Taco Taco, but more tranquil. It’s in the strip mall across the street from Blossom Athletic facility.
