This place is great and a great spot to hear some live music and get some drinks. We came on a Friday night for some Jazz music. I would recommend to get there super early because it fills up fast and without a table is not as much fun and when we left there was a line outside waiting to get it. There’s not much parking either so you might need to park on the street behind the venue. I did not care for the cover either because it was $ 10 and the drinks were not super affordable and the place is tiny so that was annoying.

As a musician, this has been by far the best room in San Antonio to gig in. From the sound quality to the amazing décor this place pleases both listener and musician. Plus the staff always gone above and beyond to make every night an experience to remember.

Thursday evening La Luna(tics) N Side San Antonio … Wear ear protectors if you ever have the misfortune to go into this dive! On a neighbor recommend, checked it out. A line of ‘horns’ screeching so loud I walked along the back wall in order to save my ear drums from permanent damage, the drummer letting off bunker buster bombs for a noise war. Because that is what it is, a noise war, nothing else. Pure and utter crap! And most certainly not music! Complete waste of my time! It is so loud I can not talk to the bar person. Have to go out into the street in order to have a conversation. Oh and they want $ 5 for the pleasure of having your ear drums busted! What a croc! And having moved here I am stuck with this creep hole as a local band bar! I wish I knew before I chose the N Side. On the S Side with the Salsa and Tex Mex bands at least you can have a conversation, order a drink etc. But not in La Luna(tics) … If you want to go to a music bar on Thursday in this end of town, the N Side, then the Olmos Pharmacy has live music, but it is not so loud that you cannot have a conversation, or order a drink.

One of the best music venues I have found in San Antonio. Great staff and the atmosphere is awesome. It’s not like going to any other music venue.

Service was spot on and we really enjoyed our night there! Soul Supporters(I believe that was the band) was awesome!!! Tator Tots and mozzarella sticks were good with beer :) FYI there IS a cover, $ 10 per person when we went. We would come back.

Consistently great live music, good drinks and nice atmosphere. Just get an itemized tab. A few drinks were added to ours whether intentional or not. They fixed it without argument.

Very nice and classy lounge atmosphere. Great live music each time I have been. I think they tend to cater to a more mature crowd(which I appreciate). By «mature» I don’t mean old, I simply mean a place where people thirty and above would appreciate as a place their generation could frequent while getting way from the trendy 20’s something club scene. The music is kept at a good volume, and when you leave your ear drums won’t be bleeding and ringing for a week. A good place to go with your spouse, sweetheart or date. The only thing I would recommend would be offer appetizer type items from a menu to enjoy while sipping your cocktails. The free nachos is a good start, but improvement can be made in that area.

I think this is Jamaican bar… no jazz at all when I went. Live music with small dance stage.

This is an ideal date spot off the beaten path in SA, here’s why: Location — San Pedro near 410 is an odd location, I think, but it was worth the travel for Luna. There is fair parking(not enough for all guests, from what I saw). Ambiance — The energy was good, and everyone seemed to enjoy the space. We arrived early — having a private table takes the cake over standing around. Prices — I don’t think $ 10 for entry makes sense when I think of our beverage bill, but it is truly a deal if you pay just that. We had the $ 4 special(Sangria & Jack), so we racked up quite an imbibing bill.

I came here with a female friend on Dec 21st, 2013. The live band was Suzanna Choffel. We had a great time enjoying our drinks and Suzanna’s performance. Although I had a 5 star experience, but I only give 4 stars because I really really really hate cover charges, $ 10 per person. I understand why they have covers. BUT I just hate it because I always order drinks anyways, I would suggest that instead of cover, they should covert it into drink vouchers. Just a thought. They don’t serve food here, but they do have bar snacks and someone sells BBQ plates out of their truck in the parking lot. The mix drinks are delicious, my friend really enjoyed them(I don’t remember the name). The price is reasonable as well. We had a great time and I will be back again for sure.

Dr. Huxtable would approve of Luna if you remember his love for Jazz and Blues. I really enjoyed discovering Luna on my last trip to SA. Went here with my big bro and had a great time. The Décor is awesome. Bar is laid out well. Staff is nice. They have table and booth seating. The dance floor is tiny, but that makes it all the more fun. This is really a SA Gem. I love Blues and Jazz. This place is a great spot to catch a live show. The crowd was energetic and on the floor dancing the night we went. Chill vibe for a few cocktails and a nice place to take your lady. When you get to the Shopping Center it is on the far left end of the complex. If you love blues and jazz please keep going to this spot. Keep this SA treasure open.

It’s probably the hippest jazzy place in San Antonio. Coming from LA, I had my pick of similar venues. In San Antonio, Luna is thus-far the best place to enjoy some great live music without the concert feel. They now have food trucks parked outside which is great. For their 10th anniversary, they had $ 5 admission and a host of entertainment. Made for a wonderful date night with my honey. :)

Let it be noted that San Antonio is a pretty happening place as of late. Bars and dives have seem to sprawl across our city no sooner than we reach for our glass to have the next pour. But with Luna, guiding the way the trend will be to go towards more smaller spaces for intimate experiences. Tucked in between a cheap motel and some boom bass shop, it seems to be the only classy beacon of light on that strip of road. Inside Luna is a quietly dark lit room, with lamps on the tables to guide your pathway. It has a speakeasy feel to it. There are small disco balls hanging on the ceiling with show lights that are not blinding. I did observe that there is VERY limited seating, which means seats and tables become a commodity as more patrons file in during the night.
On the drink end they have all sorts of cocktails that can be made at your request. They do sell beer but it is a very limited selection. The bartenders are super quick, professional and friendly. Cocktails are pretty reasonable and won’t break your wallet. For example I had a coke and bourbon and it was El Cheapo and pretty good. And I am really not into liquor. If your looking for snacks or appetizers there aren’t any here. However, on this night I did spot a food truck outside that will take your order and deliver it to you at your table inside.
Luna typically has an interesting range of music but it is mainly rooted in soul and blues. They have jazz, reggae and some rock. But mostly it is piping with soulful music that is meant to enhance your experience there. The music can be loud but it is at a level where you can still carry on a conversation with the person next to you. I really like this place. It is swanky but not stuffy nor snooty. Patrons run the gamut in age from 20’s and beyond. It has a cool vibe, like any second the Rat Pack is gonna pass by your table and say, ”What’s up baby!”. My suggestion to you is to get here EARLY so you can get a table! This place fills up fast and I noticed people clamoring for a place to sit. I mean, who wants to be standing with your date holding your drink all night? Oh, I forgot to mention that on weekdays it is usually free but on weekends, when bands play they have a cover charge at the door. A small price to pay for a jazzy good time. So if your in this area and are looking for something to do and you want to just chill seek this dive out. You will have a good time, your friends will too. But more importantly your BOO will thank you too! Need I say more…

Why did it take me four years of Texas living to visit Luna? This is a place everyone needs to know about. Drinks are coquettishly served in mason jars, and there are drink specials all the time. Usually by the bar, there are some snacks at no charge,(nachos, frito pies) and there is just great music. Luna allows for intimacy because of the booths by each side of the venue, but there are also several smaller tables near the small dance floor.(Depending on the artist, it could get a liiitle loud, so bear that in mind) Great idea for a girls night out or a nice date. Just gogogo.

I haven’t been in eight years, but I’m glad this place is still around and I can’t wait to visit the next time I’m in SA. This place was so hidden it bordered on neo-speakeasy, yet well ahead of the trend that’s taken over most metropolitan cities. Reading some of the reviews here and it looks like the atmosphere has remained. Thanks for the memories, Luna.

I really, really like the feel of this place, kinda swank, but not intimidating or snobbish. One of the nicer and more intimate venues for music in San Antonio, although you would never know it from the exterior. Only knock I have is that the three times I’ve been there, the music wasn’t that great, but I have exceedingly high standards when it comes to live music. They used to have an open mic there, don’t know if that’s still around or not. I had a super strong Manhattan cocktail which always gains favorable ratings. The patrons were nice and wanting to have a good time and relax. I think I ordered two Manhattans and two Jack and cokes and our tab was only 21 bucks, quite, quite reasonable. I need to get back to this place soon and give it another chance to wow me.

If you live, or are visiting, San Antonio(or anywhere within 100 miles of Luna), AND you like quality music and cocktails in a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, an evening at Luna is a must-do. Deep red tuck & roll upholstery, low lights, classy neon and live music that is «jazz, blues, and anything that grooves,» makes Luna a great spot for a post-dinner drink on that special date or a night out for when you’re feeling the need for some grown up time. Generally no food, although they sometimes have some bar food available. Great drinks and service. No smoking which to me is a plus. The music varies in genre but it’s always quality. They opened 8 years ago and have added greatly to the area’s music scene.
