ALERT!!! Wayne Harper doesn’t own this place or perform here anymore and hasn’t for awhile. Ive been there maybe 8 – 10 times over 20 years, but not recent in last 3 or 4 yrs. This has always been the shadiest of the shady places Ive ever been to. Even when Harper was there. Its been a culture there. Best as described as like a shady nude bar with a crooked wait staff but without the dancers. Wayne Harper was talented x 100. But now they just hire bands. But there IS and ALWAYSHASBEEN a scummy scam going on there. I can’t stress this enough… PAYINCASHPERDRINKORHAVETHEWAITRESSMARKDOWNEVERYTHINGSHEBRINGSYOU. They doubled our bill from $ 85 to $ 160. We were 4 couples and they did this to 3 of the 4. Then when you call them out and tell them they made a huge mistake. They go into this big act with the owner involved, and even your waitress will lie about what you had. The bartender even chimed in, but was totally wrong about the drinks we were drinking altogether. Then we were all forced into«negotiating» with the owner so we could leave. I can understand a few dollars. But $ 65 more?! they will just flat out double your bill. Third time happening here in last decade or so. My best advise is to just not go. NEVERAGAINHERE.

Went here after hearing good things from friends. Didn’t expect classy, but was still highly disappointed. Ordered two martinis, grey goose, lightly dirty. Bartender tried to give me two different glasses– one was soooo dirty. I mentioned that and she agreed, proceeded to rinse it, and wiped with a bar napkin. Then she put that glass away and got a low ball glass. She then poured a TON of juice from a plastic jug full of olive juice. I mentioned that I wanted lightly dirty. She said«this stuff is light, have to pour a bunch to taste anything» and proceeded to make the drinks. Then shoved a bar straw through three olives for each drink and placed it on top. Paid cash and tried the drinks, TERRIBLE. Mentioned to her we wanted to refund and leave and she said she couldn’t do anything since they were top shelf. What does that have to do with it? She said we could talk to owner and we said sure. She then came back with the $ 20 and looked me in the eye and said the owner said that we should seek another place to have a good time. Bye. Good luck Martinis. I recommend educating your staff on how to actually make a martini, buying new martini glasses, and using more sanitary practices.

Experience was not good. Dirty place. Ordered 2 dirty martinis. We were notified that they were out of «big» glasses and were asked if small glasses at $ 10 a piece. We said«alright» and then they proceeded to make our drinks. One glass was clear and the other was foggy and gross looking. I asked for a different glass. The martinis were very disgusting as the olive juice tasted rancid. How can you name your bar Martini’s and not serve a good martini? Just crazy. Above and beyond that… We told the bar tender that we didn’t care for the drinks and instead of offering us another option… we were told that they don’t give refunds. We asked to speak to the owner. The bar tender ended up refunding our money and then told us that«we should go somewhere else.» So rude. I will never return.

This place is fun and has quite a cast of colorful characters sitting at the bar. We stopped in on a Friday around 7 and there were only a few folks at the bar. From the sound of things, the place gets going about ten or eleven in the evening, when Wayne, the owner, does is one man show. The drinks were great, I had a Washington Apple martini and my friend had a Tito’s tini up. They were a bargain at 8 $ a piece, and wowza, after two I was pleasantly mellow. This is a fun place for large groups, too, and I would recommend it for bachelor/ette parties, anniversaries, work groups, etc.

Went there Saturday night with my wife and son and his wife and had a great time. Great service, good drinks and a really fun show. Highly recommended for a night out on the town.

Love Martini Club and the atmosphere. Wayne is funny and sings the old classics. The Drummer Michael is fantastic and will sing a few tunes popular today. Ernie the keyboard player is equally as talented and been with Wayne at martinis for several years. Most of the time the bar staff very good, occassionally not so quick to round and get drink orders. I have gotten watered down weak cocktails there so I stick with good olé cerveza.

I love this place so much. It’s my favorite place that I never remember to go to. Martini’s is a 70’s Vegas style lounge with the most entertaining cover artist. Wayne is seriously a character. I’ve seen him switch from Lee Greenwood to Pharrel songs back to back, and he takes requests. He’ll buy you birthday shots and make you dance, if you’re celebrating there. Drinks are pretty overpriced, but you don’t pay a cover for the show, so it is completely worth it. Martinis range about $ 11 per and a Lonestar was $ 4.50, but I’d rather pay more for my drinks than have to pay a cover. The seats are always packed early, so get there and claim your seats soon, or you’ll end up standing.

First time there recently. A few girls from work suggested we go. Despite the reviews I’ve seen for rude bartenders, ours was sweet. I don’t know her name, all I know is she’s 35. I love martinis and the selection there was very good. I went on a Friday night, it was actually pretty dead, but still liked the atmosphere. Try the hocus pocus! It is amazing!

So much potential! One MAJOR malfunction though — the bartender. I had a $ 30 tab, and tipped $ 10. Five days later, I found out that old broad changed my $ 10 to a $ 70, so I went back and asked to speak to the manager. guess what, she IS the manager! And of course, was upset by my ‘ridiculous’ allegation. despite having proof, she simply would not budge. I hate that my bank had to eat it, but I won’t let her ruin my experience there, at least not again. Needless to say, I only take cash now, and that old bag hates my @*s, but she’s burned all my girlfriend’s co-workers too. You’re pretty much guaranteed to have a good time, but if you read this and still open a tab there, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you don’t have to go through the same thing.

My wife and I stumbled across this placed after eating out one night. There was a good mix of people of all ages and backgrounds. It was somebodys birthday as well, so that made the atmosphere even more friendly. The prices for mixed drinks are what you’ expect to pay at a fancy place downtown, beer prices were the usual. After about a half hour the house band came on. The singer sounded like Neil Diamond. They played some older stuff. When they had to play newer songs the drummer took over singing. As usual some oafy looking dude in a cowboy hat hit on my wife when I went to the bathroom. Never fails to perplex me. I mean, do you not see the big ass diamond on her finger?! Anyway, no harm done. Always good for a laugh when that happens. Overall pricey mixed drinks, but excellent people watching

Great show,.excellent drink, nice atmosphere. Was looking for a place to meet a friend, where talking possible,.and stumbled on this little gem. We were there early(8pm), was nearly. empty, but it.gradually.filled.with a mix of. couples and singles, couples were mostly over 40, singles were mostly younger. The entertainer(owner?) was great – a humerous and talented musician, playing a wide range of music. Have been back since – still good. Expensive drinks, but no cover, so I consdier still reasonable unless you are a heavy drinker.

Seriously I got questioned about a $ 5 tip on watered down shots and poor service. On a $ 50 bar tab, and I bought the waitress a shot and she still complained. WOW

We love this place. So it’s not the nicest décor in town. If you want décor and fancy-schmancy martinis and drinks, go to the Riverwalk and do the tourist thing. This is a locals place and a one-of-a-kind in San Antonio We’ve been going here for years, each time we visit San Antonio. It’s kind of hard to get to, located just outside of North Star Mall, on McCullough Ave, south of Loop 410. Owned and operated by Wayne Harper, he was a performer in Vegas years ago. His act, which he does on Friday and Saturday nights, consists of covering many ‘classic’ hits with this 3 piece band. Anything and everything from Neil Diamond, The Beatles, CCR and even some Mariachi and Tejano thrown in. He is very entertaining and he always puts on a good show. During the week they offer Karaōke. I hear that Thursday nights are the best Overall, it’s a fun bar for locals and travelers alike.

My night at Martini’s can be described in a few choice words: hubris, laziness, and vomit. Vomit, you say? Yes, vomit. The smell of vomit was the first thing to hit my nostrils as we walked in. The next thing was the crowd. We came on a Friday as per suggestions from other reviewers. I did feel like I was instantly transported to a janky Vegas lounge, complete with a white haired Neil Diamond. This whole«club» is a manifestation of Wayne’s hubris. While he takes the stage in his denim on denim ensemble, he leaves the bar in the hands of severely unqualified waitresses and bartenders. Nevertheless I kept an open mind because I was hoping to find a replacement for the worlds best martini bar back home. As we sat down, the waitress came over and asked for our drink order. I asked if they have any specials and she said«everything is like $ 8» I said what about wells? She said $ 8. Well, hell. I may as well order a martini for those prices. Problem is, I think there is only one menu in the whole place and when we asked for it, she looked like we asked for her first born. I’m sorry, but for a Martini Club I was expecting a menu to be presented when seated. I ordered a UTI prevention in a glass. Well, that’s not the name of the drink but all I can remember was all the cranberry juice in my glass. I then ordered a Big Red, not the soda but their specialty martini. The waitress took my order and came back to tell me they don’t have Big Red. I kinda looked dumbfounded and opened up the menu again to find another drink. She said«oh! We have a drink called Big Red?!» Cue my fourth jaw drop of the night. A friend was ready to join us and the table next to us had opened up so we asked if we could occupy the other table. The waitress said«Will they be drinking? I don’t want someone who isn’t drinking taking up a table» Aside from the awful service and drinks(Average wait time for a drink was 15+ minutes) Wayne’s show was hokey but entertaining nonetheless. What did i expect from a bar opened for the sole purpose of giving the owner a stage? Although it boggled my mind why he kept introducing his drummer, only to then have the drummer introduce Wayne. I won’t be going back. Turns out the martinis were almost $ 12 a pop and $ 7 for wells. My bill was a cool $ 45(I didn’t even get a buzz). When we asked to see the bill, not just the credit card receipt she refused. It wasn’t until all of us made a ruckus that she complied. As we were writing our tips she kept coming asking if we were done and looking over our shoulder to see what we were tipping. Hilariously, this was the most attentive she had been all night. I could have found a dive bar down the street that would have made better martinis for half the price, with better service. Do yourself a favor and throw on the new Liberace bio pic, buy some vodka and olives and avoid Martini’s at all cost.

This guy can perform and I mean really perform. I’m not one to go for a lounge solo act, but you won’t be disappointed. Mixed drinks are pricey, but well worth it because this is what filters the clientel. This is my second visit in 3 years and I think now it will be have to be a more frequent venue. There were 20 of us. The bar is great for groups and individuals. If you want to be entertainec — go here!

I looked forward to a night at this bar. However, the staff were extremely rude. I recently moved to San Antonio, so my ID is still an out-of-state ID. The bartendress was reasonably skeptical of an out of state ID, but she came to the false conclusion that it was fake. She then tried to confiscate my real drivers license from me… I was dumbfounded. She was just trying to do her job, I understand, but she was extremely unprofessional about it. I managed to convince them to give me my(real) ID back, and I gladly took my business elsewhere. In summation: the staff is horrible. Maybe you will have a different experience, but if you’re looking for friendly staff, do NOT go here.

If you come here on a Friday or Saturday night, the owner, Wayne Harper will blow you away with his singing. It’s like a Vegas show in there. The drinks are a bit on the expensive side. The service is pretty good if you get a waitress. Don’t expect much out of the bartenders.
