I must say, I really loved this event. Loved the theme, loved the space, loved the people, loved the food. Probably one of my favorite events since it was a more intimate setting and you got to mingle more in a more open, yet intimate space. That Red Dragon doe! Appreciated that we played little trivia/memory games and the owners were very laid back. Did I mention it already? That Red Dragon doe! Ooh and that chicken champagne salad — to die for! Thanks Tomás for another super function! Oh yeah. That Red Dragon doe!!!

Oh my, what an event! I had such a great time! First of all, I just love Nectar! And when I found out that Tomas and Unilocal was going to have an event there, I just couldn’t wait. Well, Rob(the owner) was such a gracious host! I mean, he rocks! Nectar just rolled out the red carpet for everyone. I was so ready for this event. Nectar had a spread of amazing charcuterie, and cheeses. Each table had something from their menu. We all got to try different wines, which were amazing. I’m really late with this review, so I won’t repeat what over Unilocalers wrote. This event was awesome. A shout out to the Unilocalers from Austin — Leila and Scott, it was awesome to meet you! A shout out to Joi, from NOLA! And a big Thank You to Rob and Rachel from Nectar for hosting this fabulous event. And Tomas, thank you for arranging this. You rock!!!

What a wonderful wonderful event. No whining just wine-ing with delicious tasty morsoles to nibble on while enjoying the company of other Unilocalers. I had noticed this fine establishment from across the street while having lunch and had wondered what it was all about. Reading some Unilocal reviews and seeing some photos had made me even more curious. Thank you Tomas for arranging this and Nectar for opening your doors and welcoming us with warm genuine hospitality. I love how the place is decorated and all the little unique touches. I really like the accent wall with the exposed brick and the exposed pipe. Nice industrial touches. Even the restrooms have unique personalities. All the board games that are available for customers to play a very nice touch. Bring some friends, sip and munch while playing games. A great way to chill. This was such an awesome event. I am so glad I was able to participate. And on a last note; was so good to see NOLA Joi back in SA representing Unilocal

As the year draws to an inevitable close and now looking back at all the various events the vision of our CM becomes more apparent: maximize the most Unilocal events to mobilize the community. The Elite event at The Nectar Wine Bar and Ale House while an intimate affair certainly underscores this idea of providing diverse experiences on a small and grand scale. After all this was my second Unilocal Elite event I have ever attended. The strange thing is it didn’t feel like one but rather being introduced to an art exhibition. At that capacity Tomas and the principle owner Rob were no longer hosts but curators. Entering inside I noticed a few benches and tables were decorated simply with wine glasses and plates. These small details tied together the night’s idea of entrepreneurship, passion and dreams. The evening began with Rob explaining why he left corporate life to pursue his own dream of creating a wine bar. I must admit I am not a patron of the wines but no matter. I am a fan of passionate people who find purpose in the thing that they truly love; which equals to happiness. Three bottles of wine were offered by Rob with stories that accompanied each of them. Much like a docent at a museum who showcases various pieces each bottle was unveiled at a pace for the Unilocalers to thoroughly enjoy and appreciate. The piece de resistance was the chartecurie display, which was the centerpiece of the event. We were welcomed to try the various meats, cheeses, crackers placed at a table with names of exotic places I may never see in my lifetime. Unilocalers freely walked the space with forks scrambling to try the samples before they would be devoured. Each time Rob poured wine into an empty glass of a Unilocaler I could sense his passion. I was also reminded of that personal touch that is paramount to any business. His simple niceties and gestures spoke volumes of his character. I liked how he engaged with the crowd and made sure everybody’s experience was nothing less than perfect. Just like a curator must know the pieces they are presenting, a person should have a sense of the product they are serving also. At that capacity Rob was extremely knowledgeable of all the wines and foods that were served but was above all very professional. In addition it was a masterful decision in Tomas’s part by picking this wonderful spot to showcase downtown while engaging the Unilocal Community. Unilocal Elite events, at least to me seem like an occasion to connect Unilocalers to a particular business, to the owner and to hopefully convey that experience to the community. The goal of the CM is to somehow bring together strangers who share the commonality of a badge and reviews. But I suspect with the clinking of wine glasses that evening that that relationship is much deeper. I could go on about the event. About the other Unilocalers at my table who recommended places to an Elite new to the city. About the total sophistication of the place’s milieu. About the beer that Rob offered me that I unwisely declined. About how the city is growing and changing and how Tomas is highlighting that fact with each new event. There really is no need for me to sing the praises of this place. The Nectar Wine Bar and Ale House like all great art will sell itself.

Outstanding event! They definitely brought the swank for this one and I was thoroughly impressed. I honestly would have missed Nectar if it weren’t for the giant Unilocal banner outside — it’s coyly tucked away so I definitely felt like I’m now«in the know» when it comes to Nectar. I thought the portions and pacing of this event were spot on — just enough time to try the wines and the mind-blowing small plates without having to rush through, but not so much time between tastings that you’re left checking your watch. Robert gave a wonderful introduction to the wine bar and to each sample. The size of our Unilocal group felt perfect for this intimate location, it was definitely a VIP-feeling experience. The wine selection is impressive and I love that they cater to non-wine drinkers too so you don’t have to worry about leaving somebody out. Can’t thank y’all enough for letting me discover Nectar and I will definitely be bringing friends and family here.

Yet another fantastic Unilocal Elite event brought to us by Unilocal and Tomas!(And of course, Nectar Wine Bar!) My husband and I had not had a chance to try Nectar yet, but we both love wine and the hubs loooovvveeesss cheese, so of course this was perfect. Our host for the evening was Nectar and the business owner, who offered plenty of knowledge about both the wine and the charcuterie boards offered at the event. We loved everything about this place. The inside of the bar has plenty of comfy seating, along with long benches designed for people to take part in tastings. We had fun sharing the bench with other Unilocalers and sharing delicious plates. Everything we tried was so yummy. The cheeses were all so good, and they really offered so much for us to try it was hard to take it all in!(I’m not complaining — I’m thankful!) The trivia game was fun as well, but sadly we lost in a sudden death round. Way to go winning team! We will definitely be recommending this place for future events(and it sounds like they have tons of fun tastings and free events coming up — yay!) and for people who come into town. It seems like the perfect place to hang out and chill with friends and really enjoy the experience. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of this wonderful event!

The owner of Nectar mentioned and, once I thought about it, he was right: SA is sorely lacking in wine bars! Sure, you can get a glass at a restaurant but a straight up wine bar with small snacks? Copa is all that comes to mind. So Nectar is a great idea and welcome addition! It’s like a big cozy warehouse and very«welcome to chill»…they want you to hang for hours and enjoy yourself; no rushing. We enjoyed a plethora of snacks including a wonderful charcuterie, hummus, smoked salmon dip, goat cheese covered in honey, goat cheese covered in pesto and my fav was cheese topped with macerated cherries and sliced almonds. The 3 wine tastings were tasty. Plenty of bottle choices, heavily France yeah, along the walls. Loved owner’s stories, too. Good stuff! Thank you, Nectar and Tomas! I’ll def be back.

San Antonio Unilocal sure knows how to class it up! Tonight’s event at Nectar, during SA’s Downtown Tuesdays, was just exquisite! First off, Nectar is an adorable wine bar, a mere 3 blocks from the Alamo, w/some charcuterie that could put some places on both coasts to shame! And, if you like quality sardines, the ones here are oh so delectably french… The cheese selection here is absolutely world class(I mean, seriously, you can get a fromage drizzled with«death cherries»…just ask Rob, the engaging and gracious owner, and he will be happy to explain). The wine is nicely varied w/some fabulously unique selections. You can get both a classic Provence rosé and a more distinctive French malbec from Cahors and almost any other varietal or style in between! Rob and his wife, the owners, taste each wine they sell, so they are well versed in each one’s quality! This place is definitely somewhere you can get a board, grab a bottle and kill a couple of hours by yourself, on a date, or with a group of friends. Speaking of groups, had so much fun mingling w/the SA Elites! Made some fantastic new friends(Scott G graciously shared his bottle of the aforementioned French Malbec w/our band of merry Unilocalers) and our little team(Winner Winner Wine for Dinner) even showed our«perfect recall» by winning some exclusive Unilocal swag for getting all the answers correct in the little wine trivia game we had. All in all, an abfab event and my glass goes up to Tomas, Fernanda, and Rob for an all around wonderful time! Can’t wait to make the pilgrimage down I-35 for the next great SA Unilocal event! Hopefully, with my Unilocal partner in crime, Scott G, again!

Leila R and I came all the way down from Austin for this, and it was well worth the drive. We arrived a little early, grabbed our badges and chilled out while others trickled in. We eventually migrated over and sat with some lovely other Elites and bonded almost immediately over all the strange life experiences we’ve had. The wine helped. Speaking of wine! It was delicious! We tried three kinds, selected by the owner, who described each of them for us. We tried basically everything on the menu when it came to food, and every bit of it was incredible. The people, the wine, the food, the friendly and fun owner: it all made for a great night! Our little crew enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed and shared a bottle of French Malbec. GUYS, THEYHAVEFRENCHMALBEC! Go. To. Nectar Wine Bar and Ale House.
