We visited after a Spring break trip to Schliterbahm Water park. For the appetizer we had the seafood fondue minus mushrooms, it was amazing! We also ordered the seafood platter and the crawfish etoufee which are both delicious! My boys ordered catfish with mashed potatoes and French fries which were equally delicious! Great place to eat cajun seafood, although it’s kind of pricey.

I love Pappadeaux restaurants. We’ve eaten at a lot of them, in Houston, Dallas and Austin. Not to say too much negative about it but the food was bland compared to other Pappa’s restaurants. Beautiful restaurant.

Amazing service tonight by our server Jessica, perfect time to go eat is 6 to beat the crowd. Crawfish is the best you’ll find in San Antonio and is only $ 9.99 a Lb which includes potatoes and corn. Wife said the Atlantic salmon Alexandra was also great! Couple next to us complained about«smashed» crawfish and still ate it before receiving a complimentary replacement for their«issues». The drinks are strong and very pleasing. Love this place I’m so glad I’m back in San Antonio!

Date So everyone knows Pappadeaux and how good their food is. The reason for this one star review is because I literally was just told I couldn’t order another drink. As if I was paying with Monopoly $$$ and it was no good at Pappadeaux. Not because I was drunk, acting ignorant or slurring my words and stumbling around but because they just got busted by TABC. What is that you ask? It’s the Texas Alcohol & Beverage Commission. Anyone who has eaten there knows how big their portions are and just to put it in prospective for you I had a cup of gumbo, Caribbean lobster tail, mashed potatoes, broccoli and 3 jumbo scallops, which were all delicious b the way. I was there for over an hour and a half and had four drinks and three glasses of water. I paint this picture to tell you that when I ordered the last drink the manager told me I wasn’t allowed to be served any longer which has never happened to me at Pappadeaux or any other restaurant ever. There was no reason for the manager to do what she did. I was given no explanation for why other than I ordered too many drinks within a given time frame which I had never heard. Now I am all for restaurants being responsible but to cut a customer off because they are scared of being busted again for whatever is absurd. They should’ve posted a sign and said customers are not allowed to have more than … Drinks that they feel is necessary to wet your pallet. After all this, I still tipped the wait staff well and didn’t cause a scene but did let them know that they should tell customers the restaurant has a limit of drinks they will sell to an individual just because they want to. I hardly ever write reviews and hate to give bad ones when I do but I’m so disgusted at their customer service by management I just had to do it. My bartenders’ name was Sean and because he took the time to explain after the manager came over and said nothing worth while I didn’t feel as disrespected as before. I wish I could remember the managers name I would put her on blast as well. What a way to f@&! up what started out as a great experience. BUYERBEWAREATTHEBARIT’S NOTWHATITUSEDTOBE!!!

I probably changed my mind 10 times because so many menu items sounded amazing. Do I go fried or grilled? What would have good variety? I then convinced my twin to get the monstrous Pappadeux Platter(everything you cold imagine fried), so we could then split with my choice. We decided the best balancing option would be the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas plate — Blackened catfish with oysters, shrimp & crabmeat in a lemon garlic butter sauce, with dirty rice. The resulting combination was pure magic. Add on top the exceptional service and two decadent desserts for our bday, and it was probably a top 5 restaurant experience of all time. Thank you Pappadeaux! And the happy hour is a great value with tons of options. I forgot the name of the IPA draft but it is oh so tasty. We shall return!

It is a very popular place but we were able to get a table when we arrived but when we left, there was a line, not a long one but definitely a very popular place. The noise level is higher than the normal restaurant but overall it is a great place for dinner. The service was great, the food was great! Had the seabass special with shrimp and arugula(think it was arugula). I had the chocolate cake for dessert. It was just all really tasty. Also tried the fried alligator which was pretty good! I would definitely go back the next time I am in San Antonio!

I adore Pappadeaux! From the moment my husband and I stepped through the door we enjoyed our experience. Not only was the food delicious, our waiter was impeccable. He knew the menu inside and out and made suggestion after suggestion. He offered customization and really knew his stuff! While in the ladies room my husband asked for a drink recommendation to surprise me with. I came back and had a beautiful hand crafted beverage waiting for me! It definitely blew me out of the water. Overall, I cannot wait to return!

Stopped in during Happy Hour on a Monday and I was not disappointed! While there were plenty of patrons there was plenty of comfortable seating, space and no wait for a place at the bar or at a booth near the bar. The drinks were great and the boiled shrimp which came with corn and potatoes I tried on a whim was AH-MAZ-ING! I’m looking forward to stopping by again during Happy Hour to get those boiled shrimp… They may have changed my life!

I have to say that this place just makes me happy, happy, happy! I love the New Orleans feel of the place and of course the food. I am combining two different visits into one review. We were here on a Friday night, January 15; tip ~ GET here EARLY! We arrived at Pappadeaux at 5:30PM; and had no wait time. Where we were seated was like watching the bus station in Seattle. Check out my video… Although I do have to say the place ran like a well-oiled machine. People whipping around corners, holding large trays of food above their heads, going this way, going that way, near misses but no collisions, watched a lot of hugs between employees; I loved seeing the hugs. It was quite entertaining, but not where I wish to be seated again when I come. My husband ordered the Crispy Atlantic Salmon, Shrimp and Octopus which was served with new potatoes and asparagus. He loved it. I ordered the seafood grill which comes with shrimp, scallops, and fish; on this night it was served with salmon, YUM! I substituted sautéed spinach for the dirty rice. I have had this dish before and the fish changes depending on what they have an abundance of. We were back on the following Friday, January 22 to celebrate my daughters birthday. We were a group of 9 and two were children. I tried calling ahead so that I could get ahead of the line, but there was no waitlist when I called. The waitlist opened as soon as I walked in the door. We brought in a cake which was taken to the refrigerator to wait for our dessert time. We had a 30 – 40 minute wait. The wait time was not such a bad thing because it gave us an opportunity to wait for my son to arrive and to listen to the music from a one-man-band who sounded really good. We stood outside in the patio area where there was heat coming from someplace above our heads. It was not a bad wait time considering the heat and music.(It was a cold night.) Five drinks were ordered while we waited; they were taken to our table as we were being seated. We loved our server Jessica M who never appeared to be stressed out. I signed up for the Pappadeaux E-Club the day before our dinner and I received a virtual coupon for a free appetizer which I was allowed to use; I got the Lump Crab & Spinach Dip which was $ 14.95 — this was very good and even better because it was free. My son wanted the Live Maine Lobster; we have all been to Maine and on several occasions there, picked out our lobster to have steamed. We got that opportunity at Pappadeaux. There were only four Lobster’s in the tank and the two pound lobster gave a good fight. Sorry for all of you that this may offend, but it was very good and very fresh; served with drawn butter and cooked to perfection.(I got a taste.) I got the Mixed Seafood Grill again on this trip; other food ordered: Shrimp and Chicken — my Brother loved this; Fried Catfish Fillets — birthday girl and her children split this meal and loved it; Seafood Gumbo — gave my husband my dirty rice to add to his Gumbo; Crawfish Trio was a hit with my son-in-law; Oyster’s on the half shell were also ordered. Because it was my daughters birthday, she got a dessert of her choice and she opted for the Crème Brûlée. Jessica cut and served the birthday cake for everyone at the table. I love the time we had with family and friends and could not have picked a better place to share a good meal.

Outstanding! I hadn’t been to this restaurant in a long time. Although a bit leery, especially on a Sunday afternoon when it’s known to be crowded, I stopped in lunch. The restaurant was full but there was no wait! My sis and I were immediately seated. Service 5⁄5 — Sara, the waitress, was great! She was knowledgable, personable, and right on-time. She was even able to give me a good suggestion for a cocktail. The Texas Rose hit the spot! Food 5⁄5 — Pappadeaux’s is known for large portions. We dined during lunch time, enjoyed ample portions, and left very full. I ordered the mozzarella sticks with spicy marinara as an appetizer, mixed seafood skewer with dirty rice, and vanilla cheesecake with fresh strawberries. Umm, hmm, goooood! My sister ordered the shrimp cocktail which was HUGE as an appetizer and the Cobb salad for an entrée. Value — 4⁄5 Don’t let the bill catch you by surprise. Just remember you get what you pay for. And, the food is worth every penny.

Extremely disappointed and upset when, after taking off a ½ day from work, going crosstown, fighting traffic, and even having a good friend check and verify for me that Pappas did have them… belly up to the bar, only to find out… No happy hour oysters on Friday. Someone lied. Won’t return. Unless I get that verified, notarized and certified by the Texas Attorney General that my $ 9.95 oysters will be there and served. EDIT: Yes, I went to their website… it *does* state«Gulf oysters $ 9.95 Monday-Thursday». Not Friday. I give them that. But someone flat out LIED to my friend when he called Pappas on my behalf and was told by someone(not management) that YES, $ 9.95 oysters are available on Friday. I’m still riled by this slight. *Looks appealingly at Sea Island*…

Considering that I haven’t been to a Pappadeaux’s in over 20 years I took the first chance I had to get back here! Even though the parking lot was full and the restaurant was packed there was only a 10 minute waiting time, and our table was actually ready in less than that. I thought it was pretty cool that they text you when your table is ready. Our waiter was Earnest and he was outstanding! He recommended a few dishes that were absolutely delicious. Clean and beautiful inside and great atmosphere, tons of seating and awesome staff. I can’t wait until our next trip here!

Our General Manager for the Western US was in town for a meeting with HEB. Since she had not been in town for a while, we let her pick where we went for dinner. She wanted seafood and picked Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen for an early dinner. We had a loud group of 6 that met at about 5:30. We were greeted immediately and escorted to a table in the back. The waiter was very quick to take our drink orders, and after returning with the drinks, shared the specials for the day. Our GM ordered first, and she ordered a salad. Other folks followed her in ordering salads. Not me. I ordered the shrimp I wanted to compare their shrimp with their sister restaurant — Pappasito’s. Shrimp stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and served with dipping butter. Does it get any better than that? You will not see any pictures posted as I took one bite and couldn’t stop to get the phone out. I’ve written that the best seafood in town comes from a Mexican food place. Does that still hold true? I would say this place is equal to their Mexican counterpart. However, the difference is the side dishes(I prefer those at Pappasito’s). Will I be back? Oh yea:-)

I’ve been really diggin’ Pappadeaux lately! My mom, the sweetest little woman you’ll ever meet likes to treat the family to Sunday lunches here… at first I was like«nah, I’ll just stay at home and be lame» but they threatened my life so off I went. In the past, I tried some dishes and they were too spicy or the seasonings were overwhelming and about everything was overpriced. The solution to the the price issue is going during lunch and sitting at the bar. I’ve been able to sample more things and learn what I like, I now tolerate oysters, loads of skrimp, and their gumbo. Here’s why you should sit at the bar: –There’s several people always waiting on you –You get to sample signature drinks –There’s some gacho bartender eye candy –You’re forced to sit next to other people… so you may be able to make a friend or two –You get to watch these nice boys shuck oysters –If the oyster shuckers give you an oyster shower you get a free oyster and if they accidentally frisbee throw a porcelain plate at your mom because of slippery hands… you just may get a whole plate of oysters! –NOWAITTIMES –They will bring you your own loaf of french bread so you wont have to share with your entire family –Food comes out wayyyy faster –You don’t have to sit and face your family(allows you to give winks across the bar)…sit next to your favorite sibling –Checkout is always smooth and fast –Happy Hour is from 3:00 — 6:30!!! Lots of drinks and eats to choose from! I will admit that the seafood here is among the freshest I’ve encountered. The gumbo is full of seafood chunks and not broth only. The king crab is excellent and their halibut is out of this world good! Try a Pina Colada, my sister and mom LOVETHEM! Oh and they have free wifi too, in case you gotta get some work done while chowing down on some crab legs. :p What’re you waiting for, go throw down some of that hard earned dough during lunch!

I’ve eaten here twice now and ordered the same entrée in lunch and dinner portion. The grilled seafood mix is so wonderful! It comes with a variety of fresh seafood on a bed of dirty rice. The lunch portion is one skewer while the dinner portion is two. I like having the variety, plus the freshness of the seafood is enhanced through grilling. Some onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms are also included in the skewer. A great mix overall and a winner both times. I also had the calamari appetizer, which is likely why I was so full for dinner I only ate half a skewer. The lunch portion is much more manageable and I was able to try their triple dessert combination of banana pudding, pecan pie, and crime brûlée. Needless to say, I was unable to finish dessert, but it was still tasty the next day. Overall, a great place for a date, special occasion, or anytime. However, please note that although this restaurant is fairly casual, the prices range from 15 – 30 easily. So, make sure you choose something you really like!

You know as chains go, this one is fairly A-ok in my book. They provide pretty solid service, do a pretty good job with the food and frankly, I prefer to eat oysters in chains in landlocked places because they have the infrastructure to really deliver those morsels of briny goodness at their freshest. HH in this place can lead to some pretty nicely cooked shrimp(which they obviously nuke before serving given that I have got cold potatoes) which are made zingy by a creole seasoning laden butter, the po boy the purists will argue is nothing close to NO, but it is still quite tasty with crusty bread, mayo, simple iceburg lettuce and either a crispy catfish fillet or very nicely seasoned and fried shrimp which makes for a pretty good accompaniment to the short list of beers on draught. Frog legs are well made but a trifle heavy handed with the grease, but I guess that is done to make them attractive to folks who don’t actually like frogs legs but want to talk about them as they choke one down. I have not had a bad meal or bad service here and when in a «where to go» rut, not a bad place to stop by for a snack while you contemplate the next steps in the eating list.
