Called in a to go order during lunch today. Beach roll, dynamite roll, jessy roll, philly roll, cali roll. The were issues with the order. I called and spoke with Andrew, he apologized and said to come in to the shop and he will take care of me. Went by after work and Andrew wasn’t avail but Jamie was aware of the situation. Without hesitation they took care of the issue. Great customer service and great way to take care of me. I will definitely return to Rock San!!!

The food is good, but the service typically isn’t the best and the place is small so it shouldn’t be a challenge. If you have time to wait and the location is convenient it’s worth a taste.

The sushi is amazing. My favorite place. Deep fried rolls are on point. The service was pretty bad. Our waitress was Maria who took the order, never brought out the appetizer we ordered, still needed eel sauce and just left. Unprofessional.

Surprised to see the previous bad reviews. I’ve eaten sushi several times here and it has always been fresh and delicious. The waitress always checks on me multiple times and is very friendly. I sit at the little sushi bar and have never had any complaints. For the price and quality of the food, I’d say this place is very reasonable.

Do not go. Better off at McDonald’s. Salt on everything. Phở is ramen noodles. Very, very bad.

Japanese? Vietnamese? Chinese? Korean? FUSION! The owner once explained to us his dream of a unified Japan — oh wait, that was from the Last Samurai. I think it was just the coming together of the best flavors! It’s a strip mall — so you guys know how I feel about that? BUT! They have a decent wine selection to match the Simply Red Pandora that’s playing over-head & authentic Miso starts every meal. Highly recommended! We get their version of the Bun Bowl — BOOM. Tip: Start with their sushi — the little old dude in the back makes them fresh. AMAZEBALLS!(Amazerolls?)

I really wanted to like this place. It’s one of the only independent businesses surrounded by chain stores and restaurants. The Chicken Penang Curry was terrible. The curry was watery and thin. It poured straight through the rice. The person taking my order was kind of stern, not friendly at all. Maybe they have something else that’s good, but this really wasn’t a great indicator.

If I could put zero stars I would. The new owners have cut corners so much that even the water tastes like dishwater. My noodles tasted like a wet dog rolled around in them, and the salmon tasted like it was previously frozen AND rotten. We walked out after taking two bites. The smell coming off the noodles alone was enough to make me say I’ll never be back. The waiter didn’t know anything about the menu, and the manager acted like it was too much work to drink his beer, much less talk to upset customers. The waiter didn’t know that a dish we ordered came with rice and had to check with his lazy manager to make sure we weren’t lying and finally brought out plain white rice. They didn’t lower the prices to reflect their low quality either. TLDR: don’t come here.

Had to walk out… The waiter wouldn’t get off his phone to take our order. If I could put zero stars I would.

I ordered sushi and it tasted awful, I told the manager and he just argued. This place does not have any customer service.

Came back to give this place another try and the service is just horrible. The so called«owner» is so rude. It recently just got taken over by different owners and since then every single time I have come the owner has literally gotten into an argument with me. In front of other people. We were not satisfied with a roll that we have gotten numerous times. We let them know and they laughed in our faces. Mocking us. And saying«well sorry don’t order it next time». The food is disgusting compared to how it used to be. Everything tastes different. We will definitely not be coming back here. If I could give this negative stars I would.

The worst service! We odered lunch specials. The food that we received was really good. The waiter brought us our food only to never be seen again. My order was supposed to come with misogyny soup, and my daughter had ordered an egg roll. Neither came. We could never get our waiter to come over so we could let him know. After we finished our meal, we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get the ticket. At that point we told him we didn’t get our full order, but it was really no concern to him. No drink refills or anything. We felt like our waiter was irritated because we were in there and distanced himself as much as possible. That did not make for a pleasurable dining experience. I will probably just go down the road to Wasabi the next time I want Sushi.

Service was nonexistent, I think waitress was annoyed we ordered water with our meal. The miso soup was murky, and bland. The general chicken was swimming in a brown sauce that was NOT General Chicken sauce. The fried rice had little dried up pieces of egg, no flavor really. Spring rolls extremely heavy on the cilantro, and had to ask for all condiments(twice). Asked for sushi roll(Erin roll) on soy, was informed they don’t have soy sheets. Really? Two hours later, and I’m sick to my stomach. I will never go back, and regret wasting $ 23 on bad food, and bad service. No thanks! I’ll go back to Sushi Zushi! At least I won’t get sick, and they are nice there.

Came here for lunch today and was not impressed – Pad thai is made out of Ramen noodles with some added spices to duplicate a very popular Thai dish. Not a solid impression for a hotspot on Dezavala.

Wow. First time here and I am kicking my self for not finding this place sooner. Great sushi chief. This is the kind of sushi place you can just leave it up to the chief to make sure you have a great experience. Also the quality of the sushi is top tier.

Love the food! Lad Nah is my favorite Noodle dish. Its very fresh and you can choose between beef, chicken, shrimp or a combo. The best sushi roll is the Metzger. The desert is super refreshing. It’s only served if they have fresh mangos! Yummy!

Rock San is a great Thai food restaurant, I love the Rock San Noodles, mixed veggies and chicken and phở! AND they ask for your level of spiciness, as a pepper belly I love that! As I always want my food like my men, hot! hot! hot! :D It is well located, in the parking lot of HEB at DeZavala and i10. The space is clean, intimate and great for a quiet lunch or date night. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I have been back and will be back again and again!

Disclaimer: I have yet to order sushi from here. And I don’t plan on doing so. I order one thing, and one thing only: the Rock San Curry. It’s incredible. I have also tried the red curry, which is the best red curry I’ve had at any Thai restaurant. The staff is always helpful and incredibly fast. Take it for what it’s worth.

Had lunch with 2 friends here today. Been visiting this thai+sushi place for a few years now. I’m actually proud of seeing the establishment improve on its renovations and concept. It went from a shady looking asian place in a H-E-B shopping center to a good looking sushi bar and restaurant. Obviously they care about the times and their customers, especially ones with an itch for asian food in a not-so friendly asian selection city like SA. Location: You can park outside or to the far right between HEB and the Stein mart. Can’t complain on parking-its on De Zavala so you should already know about traffic hour and what time Clark HS students get out. Has newer tables but a few. Tables on the outside but like 2. Never seen it at full capacity though. Food: Had many sushi rolls here before. UTSA roll is good. *I want to add that this is probably the origin of the«UTSA roll». Had the fried rice and its tasty and a lot. Seems like the dishes give you lots of food but haven’t tried everything. Tried the«Massaman curry today» since it was on the lunch menu. Pretty salty and was not worth the $. Service: Our guy was nice and helpful. If the service was really poor I’d mention it. Pretty quiet-chill day today so of course we had his full attention. Drinks, sushi rolls, and miso soup came out promptly. Food came right after so no problems. Summary: Cute spot for a date. Not really that intimate so maybe dates 6 – 7 haha. It can pricey so do consider your options if you really want to dish out, have a dining experience, or just come for food. Decide if you want sushi or a meal meal. For the Romantics: *Baskin-Robbins icecream is next door and a dollar theater«Fiesta 16» is down the street. If the date doesn’t go to well there is an awesome Twin Peaks bar also on the same street(guys or girls its still fun).

Food: Came here on a coworker’s recommendation. It’s sort of a pan-Asian restaurant, not really committing to a particular cuisine(although it says Thai and sushi on the outside). It has Vietnamese phở, Chinese dishes, Thai, and Japanese. My husband tried a Thai style curry and I decided to try their General Tso’s chicken. We also ordered a sushi roll. The sushi was good, and I’d probably go back to try more. The Chinese dish was half rice(okay, nothing special, could make it at home) and half General Tso’s chicken, drenched in General Tso’s sauce. It was weird that it was plated with so much sauce, but I’m guessing that some people may like to mix it with the rice. Per my SO, the curry was good but not the best he’s ever had. The portions are normal and appropriate. Pricing: The food is slightly overpriced compared to other nearby restaurants with similar or better quality: $ 12 per plate. I would’ve like to try a bubble tea, but not for $ 5. The only thing I can say is that the sushi is more appropriately priced. Service/Environment: The service was good. The environment itself is cozy, small, but looks nice and has a slightly romantic feel. Bathrooms were clean. Came here for dinner on a weekday night, and it wasn’t super busy. Overall: It tasted good, but it’s not the best food we’ve ever had. Might come back to try more of the other pan-Asian dishes(moreso the sushi!), but it’s pricey. We’ve found other favorite Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese restaurants individually with more comparable prices.
