Enter and was immediately greeted, not sure of it was because I did not have an appointment but I did not feel a connection or find this place to be my hair salon home. My stylist was okay — I tried to engage in friendly conversation but it was more quick short answers & she was a little bit of a Debbie downer. She seemed nice thou. The stylist cut my hair as requested & I left. My overall experience — it was just okay.

I’m the type of person who hates to say anything negative about hard working people, but my experience was not a good one. Granted, I have long and thick hair which can make things more complicated, but that’s not enough of an excuse for how bad of a color job I received. I was going to be in a wedding and went in asking for a few subtle caramel low lights that would be «well blended» in my dark brown hair. I explicitly asked for it NOT to be stripy and especially not yellow. Well, I got just that… horribly chunky yellow stripes closely resembling a zebra. And no where near my roots. Additionally, during the blow dry, my hair was tugged at so hard I had tears in my eyes from the pain. When I was turned around to see the color I was mortified but smiled, paid, and left before bursting into tears. If this happens to you, run out and buy Aveda Clove conditioner… it saved my life until I could go back to my hometown to get it fixed by my wonderful stylist (which took 5 hours) 6 weeks later.

I followed April from Treusdell salon and spa and absolutely love her. I travel from Denver so she can do my hair (I have family in town)!! No one can blow out, cut and style my hair like April. I used to travel to NY and now I do to SA for her. I was so bummed I found her before moving but she always makes time to squeeze me in her busy schedule when I come in from out of town. You cannot go wrong at Salon Lumen!!!

Moved to a new area from out of state and was pleasantly surprised to have Crystal do my hair. She was very personable and did a great job on my hair.

Elizabeth cut my hair for the first time yesterday. I am SO glad that I found her! I had tried several salons and stylists over the last few months, and was tired of substandard haircuts. Elizabeth listened to my concerns and was able to fix with the work of another that left me with an uneven and not well thought out cut. I will definitely be coming back to her and have already started recommending her to my friends.

Best hair salon in San Antonio. Great location — awesome staff — clean and stylish interior. Can’t beat it!

Phillip did an amazing job both times. The color and cut looks fantastic. And my hair is so shiny! I definitely recommend this salon.

Melanie C. is a whiz with curly hair — she just gets it! I’ve been going to Melanie since I read a recommendation on the Ouidad community board (now defunct board, still great products). I’ve gone long, short, cuts that work well straightened, with bangs and without. I color my own at home, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about her coloring technique as well. I’ve been a customer for 7 years!

Elizabeth is amazing. She’s friendly, listens during consults and is incredibly talented with color, cut and styling. She also shares styling and product tips and tricks. Took me about 3 yrs to find her after trying so many stylists in San Antonio.

I went in a couple of weeks ago for a simple trim, and walked out with a proper haircut and layers. Within the first week, I received several compliments on my hair. Definitely a happy customer.

I just moved to TX in May and this was my first trip to ANY salon in San Antonio. I went because it was near me but I also went because of the well deserved good reviews it has here on Unilocal.I’m so glad I went! I was assigned to Elizabeth, and she did the style I wanted perfectly! She also showed me some excellent Sebastian products for my very dry hair. It was $ 55 for a haircut but as a new client, I was given 20% off. But best of all, they serve wine! Did I mention that they serve wine? Yeah, they serve wine!

So excited my sister introduced me to Salon Lumen. With a head of long, thick, curly hair, I’m incredibly picky about where I go get my hair done and have had a hard time finding a salon and stylist here in San Antonio. Phillip is the answer to my prayers! He knows exactly how to style hair. I left with my locks looking luxurious– in that «Victoria’s Secret Angel bombshell» kind of way. Staff is great, service is awesome, location is convenient. 4 stars!

I followed Melanie here as she followed her dream to open her own salon. She’s a great colorist and knows blondes and how to make us look marvelous and not trashy. Nice décor and friendly staff. Wine is always a nice addition too. I’ve already sent some of my friends here as well.
