Nothing special about the food. Ordinary meals, a bit pricey. I got the turkey meatloaf with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was good, nothing special. The scenery of the restaurant is what makes this restaurant wonderful. The country music makes it very a homey chill vibe. Outside dining is very relaxing. And there’s also a cute little wooden playground outside so it’s good for kids.

We’ve been here for brunch, lunch, dinner and private parties. The brunch is amazing! The lunch menu is small, but I’m always happy with the food. Dinner is delicious, I love the ribeye steak and the Gorgonzola Walnut Salad is one of the best salads I’ve ever had. The private party food is more than expected. The service is always great. The only negative thing is the main dining room is noisy, but they have a beautiful outdoor space for outside dining.

Disappointing. Scenic Loop Café used to be much better in my opinion, but the last few visits have been underwhelming. Ambiance is nothing special if you’re sitting inside. Outside is a bit better if the weather is nice. The food is ok. Last time we visited one of three meals was good. The rest were pretty bad. And the prices are not commensurate with the quality. Some of the options are fine steak house priced and I can’t imagine taking the chance on a $ 35 meal at this place.

Pretty average southern food. Too expensive for quality. Chicken fried steak is good, pork shank is good. Didn’t like the mashed potatoes or Caesar– how do you mess those up? Spinach artichoke dip had bits of shrimp in it and was oily and separated. Not bad, but don’t go out of your way to come here.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant! I ordered the flounder which was supposed to come with asparagus and wild mushroom rice. The flounder came and looked suspiciously like tilapia. I asked the kitchen to confirm if it was which is they did but I am still convinced I paid $ 20 for tilapia. It was awful. Also, the server failed to inform me that the wild mushroom rice no longer comes with the flounder so I got some other rice. It also came with four of the skinniest pieces of asparagus. The service was awful. We were here for a celebration which they seemed more annoyed about rather than tried to acknowledge and make us feel special. I will never be back to this restaurant, and I hope this review is helpful for others.

Great food! We don’t go often but every time we go it’s good. Really comfortable place, laid-back but not lacking in attention to detail

Food is over priced and over cooked. Great atmosphere and Hill Country setting but the food for what they charge is not on par.

Very good place for lunch. Lunch menu available from 11:00 am — 3:00 pm. Four of us went from work and we each tried something different. The place is comfortably rustic with a full wine list and full bar. The four lunch plates were turkey meatloaf, chicken salad sandwich, hamburger steak and avocado chicken. I had the chicken. The good-sized breast was covered generously with tomato, avocado and Monterey Jack cheese. All the plates came with salad and potatoes or rice. All very tasty. Service was just fine. She accommodated requests for to-go tea cups. Definitely worth a return trip. For your further information, the Sunday brunch sounds divine. Might be worth a drive out from SA. Check it out.

I met my parents who eat here a lot. We ordered fried mushrooms and shrimp artichoke dip. Both were delicious and the mushrooms are huge. Our waiter was very attentive and courteous. I could hear some of the other waiters and waitresses around us who sounded very young and not knowledgable and we were glad we did not get them. I ordered the seafood platter and it was very good although the portion for $ 28 was really small. A small piece of Mahi Mahi, two small shrimp wrapped in bacon, crab cake, and a scallop. They did give me a big serving of undercooked sweet potato fries. There was also live music which was nice. However, the biggest problem are the numerous flies which never left us alone and we constantly had to eat with one hand and shoo with the other.

Another disappointing restaurant in the San Antonio market. Nice setting but mediocre food and high prices. Kind of like a high priced willies with slightly better food. Of course willies is not so good. Started with queso came in a small cup for around $ 9 worth $ 5. Nothing great. We were offered no bread and butter which was disappointing. Had crab cakes that obviously had little or no blue crab. They tasted like salmon croquettes made with canned salmon or the crab was not fresh. They normally cover it with a sauce that would mask the taste so you might not notice the lack of crabmeat. I had it on the side which let the cat out of the bag. The crab cakes sold at costco are much better– buy those and fire your chef, I’m sorry cook. I expect better food when I eat out then I can buy at a store. I would suggest for the nice setting and high prices they should hire a real chef from the culinary institute in say New York. If you can’t afford that get someone from Austin. Ditch the Mexican and Texan food and go continental. Good mex and tex is cheap and good elsewhere. Serve fresh baked bread. Smoke your ribs don’t cook them in a oven. Cobb salad was decent but chicken was dry. Value say $ 9.95. Spinach enchiladas ok but again not worth wore than $ 9.95. Chicken fried chicken mini portion overpriced. Chicken is cheap. I really want this restaurant to be good. Like The downtown restaurants like bliss or bite.

I just don’t understand all the reviews which say the food is great here??? This place excels at mediocrity when it comes to food. And it is way over priced for what you get. Getting to this place is a nightmare — the traffic and turning onto Boerne stage road is hell. Was there again tonight and the service was bad. Our waitress was a young girl who I had to stop to ask for a refill on my tea, and that was the only refill I got all night. My wife and I shared an appetizer, I had an ice tea, and she had a margarita. Price was $ 34.44. Insane. And the food is just ok. Not deserving of one star, but the price with quality is a solid 2 star rating. After begrudgingly leaving $ 40 on the table(to include a tip for that crappy service), I told my wife I hope I never step foot in that place again. I said that the last time we ate there. I sure hope I don’t forget this time.

Scenic Loop is such a great place to eat with family and enjoy their company. The servers and management have always been cordial and helpful. We like this place so much my sister is having her rehearsal dinner there! Great menu and great people.

Have always been a fan of Scenic Loop Café. Their burgers are fantastic and the atmosphere is great… Went last night and was very disappointed. They have a really bad«fly» problem on their patio. They were everywhere… Everywhere. I couldn’t eat due to the number of flies. They were all over the empty tables next to us and landing on my food by the family load. They really need to do something about the flies… Not sure I will ever go back. Had to stomach a $ 50 tab for a meal I couldn’t stand to eat.

We go out to the Scenic Loop Café every few months. Last weekend we visited for Easter brunch. It turned out to be a buffet. Everybody likes an Easter brunch buffet. Sadly, variety, imagination, and execution lacked. There was the mandatory big hunk of beef, which was overdone. Migas were scrambled eggs baked with tortillas and cheese on top; no onions, peppers, tomatoes, or such. Home-made sausage was hard, dry, lumps. Waldorf Salad was a watery lake of chopped apples. Pieces of spiral-sliced honey-baked ham were soaking in a pan of hot water. Twice-baked potato casserole had been over-whipped, rendering it dense and glutinous. Fried fish fillets were straight from the Sysco box. Smashed croissants with a cinnamon-sugar crust and little plastic buckets of syrup were nothing special – Sysco again? Bloody Mary was small, low-flavor, and minimally garnished. But the bacon was good, so there’s that. Staff was informal but adequate. Got the job done. At $ 25 per, it was moderately priced for a fancy buffet, but it wasn’t a fancy buffet and it didn’t deliver the expected quality. Mediocre, or, as Unilocalers love to say, «meh.» Oh, Good Lord, I just flashed back to the every-day breakfast buffet at the Villagio Inn in Yountville, California. It murders the crap they put out at the Scenic Loop Café. Okay, the Inn is surrounded by some of the finest restaurants and wineries on the continent, so maybe it’s a tad unfair to ask the SLC to compare. But still, if the Villagio buffet is a five-star, the SLC is lucky to get two.

Two ordered stuffed pork one came out great, the other undercooked. I ordered avocado chicken, it was Overcooked. The server quickly and appropriately fixed pork cooking, I never said anything about the chicken. Service deserved an extra star, atmosphere too loud for me, food presentation fit the price, but the cooking aspects were below this price range. I liked it enough to go back. Much better next visit
