Don’t come here expecting Tex-Mex. Taqueria Datapoint is definitely one of the most authentic taqueria’s in SA. They’re the only taqueria in SA that knows how to make real chorizo-beans(in case you hadn’t noticed, their beans are cooked in chorizo oil). They’re the only taqueria in SA that generously gives limes and cilantro, besides a taco truck(limes are Mexico’s #1 export). They hand cook tortillas and make them a more than respectable size. They have all the authentic taquria favorites such as taquitos(as in mini-tacos), caldo, pastor, tortas, charros(not churros), etc. Although it does have Tex Mex on the menu, Datapoint is definitely catering to those who lived in or near Mexico. Only thing they’re missing is bistek loaded potatoes.

I will not ever return to this place. I went this past Sunday around 11am. We got immediate service, and they were very attentive… to the person I was with. When it came time for me to order, the waitress didn’t look at me directly, she just kept looking down at her order pad. I ordered caldo and had to repeat the order three times, because she didn’t understand that I was saying«beef caldo».she looked at my friend with a face like«what is she saying?» and he repeated my order and she says«oh okay.» Another waitress brought our order out, and at that time, my friend was outside. She put his plate in front of me and I said«No that is for him» and she proceeded to move the plate to the other side of the table, and left it on the corner. She then put the plate that held my bowl of menudo(because they were out of beef caldo) on the table and slid it to me. In the process, she shoved the plate so hard that the menudo juice came out of the bowl and spilled all over the plate and the part of the table. She looked at me and asked«are you good?» I was so over this experience that I just said yes and asked for napkins, while I moved my friends plate to the center of the table, since she just left it on the corner. She never brought back the napkins and walked to the food ready area of the restaurant and joked around and laughed with the other waitress and the cook. The shame is that the food was good and the portions were generous, but the service sucked. There are so many other good taco joints in the neighborhood, that there is no reason to go back to this one.
