Love this place it is a bar, bunch of food trucks and a dog park all combined. Great selection of craft beers at bar, tvs to watch game, must try both taco trucks. The food truck hours vary but it seems weekend evenings they are all open.

Aside from the Southtown food trucks, I really like this food park. It’s definitely bigger and is family/kid friendly. I also really like that the atmosphere is very fun and laid back. The trucks offer a good variety of options, with my favorite being the pizza truck. The only downside is that the parking is a pain. You are guaranteed to not find any actual parking because there are only like 5 total spots in their tiny parking lot. The place gets so packed that the cars parked along the street seem endless. There have been times where I don’t even think I will find street parking and have also parked by the new apartments that were built along the street. Once you get past the annoyance of finding where to park, the place is really fun.

The food truck services are amazing, but the bar staff was unprofessional. Very disappointed with how i was treated while spending time with family and friends during a spurs game. The older waiter(50 – 60 age range) who usually just cleans the tables was belligerent. He grabbed a drink from my hand and threw it in the trash despite having reviewed by Drivers license to verify that i was NOT a minor. I asked several times to speak with a manager and was never given an opportunity. It was an embarrassment and even the bar staff was unhelpful to the situation. Unfortunately I will not be returning to the Block despite being UTSAALUMNI. The older man was obviously drinking while working. They need to be more careful about how they treat customers at whats suppose to be a «family friendly» establishment.

Chill, cheery, family & pet friendly crowd with live music & good food! I stumbled upon this by accident and had an amazing time, it had everything I was looking for(food, drinks, live music, young couples, students, pets, young families). Will definitely be bringing family & friends.

It’s really nice over there! It’s dog and kids friendly and these mini burgers were the bomb! I’ll come back!

I’m almost embarrassed to say that despite being a recent graduate from UTSA, I have only gone to the Block once, and I really regret not visiting more often during my time in school. I LOVE the idea of having a food truck venue next to main campus, I see UTSA is really trying to step up its game! The atmosphere is great and spacious, and the food selection is pretty fantastic. Came here to watch the Spurs game so it was understandably packed, both inside and outside(I was inside cause it was cold). However, piggybacking off a few other reviews here, i don’t think this place is exactly kid friendly, especially during the evening-I can see it being a more kid appripriate place during the day. That aside, I don’t really have anything negative to say about the Block. It’s a great idea, and a step forward for the area.

Our first time hanging out there this evening and I feel like we discovered a hidden gem! The food was great, great atmosphere and good drinks. I found it to be kid friendly. I do think the bartenders could have been a little more attentive. 2 or 3 were behind the bar but more than once, only 1 person was getting drink orders while the other 2 were running their mouth. Not an issue too much today but there was clearly a long line where they could have been useful. If I had one suggestion I would say DONOTVALET. They have it ‘free of charge’. Which would normally be great ! Upon leaving with 2 kids, one having a fit and the other crying in the car seat, there was no one at the valet station. For 5 – 8 minutes. I can see our truck. After hearing my kids and I’m about to lose it, I walk over the the stand, pop it right open and grab my keys. Just then the valet comes around the corner in another vehicle and starting yelling hey! Hey! No! And finger wagging at me. He comes out of the vehicle and tells me if I do that there is gonna be a problem. How about anyone off the street could have walked up, while the station was unattended, grab some keys and THATS a problem. I told him it was my vehicle and at least it was actually mine! Anyone walking by could have done the same thing, hit the unlock button and had themselves a new ride. I doubt if I call to complain to The Block tomorrow, they will take responsibility. I’m sure they are contracted out etc. just be aware people. I’d be on the safe side here.

Great place after work. Found a food truck called Revolutionary Wings tonight. The best wings I have ever eaten. Not cheap but well worth it. You have to try the Ginger Char Sui wings. To die for. Ignore the price and try — you will not be disappointed. They have been in business a week.

Great atmosphere, decent beer selection at reasonable prices, parking has improved significantly now that there’s free parking at a nearby garage. The grounds are also well maintained. Great food truck venue in my book!

I love it here. Maybe it’s the alcohol talking… the parking is kind of… well…difficult, but it’s worth it! It’s dog and kid friendly, the people are all nice, and it attracts the best customers… go Runners!

Awesome idea especially in this bland part of town. Great variety of trucks that rotate often. Everything I’ve eaten here has been good. Misters in the summer, heaters in the winter. Yard games are fun if you can get a turn. Parking leaves a lot to be desired. I would order a drink when I come on Sundays but the bar is never open. One caveat: after dark, this place turns into a drunk college shit show.

The Block is always a good spot for a Saturday, or Sunday afternoon. There is plenty of parking spaces, and plenty of table to sit at. There have a good variety of taco trucks that sever all kinds of food from philly cheese steak to mini empanadas. The block has some very friendly bartenders that will take you order in a short amount of time. We ended up going on a Sunday afternoon for their awesome Michelada with Dos X talk about yummy. It’s a must have if you’re in the area. If you’re worried about the summer heat they have plenty of covered seating and plenty of fans going on. There are plenty of trees in the shade. Bring the family they have jinga and other cool games to play.

Being a former student of UTSA I have to say The Block is so amazing! I’ve came here with friends many times and the atmosphere is amazing! Beer is great and cheap and the food is good too. Came to eat Chela’s Tacos and got the chicken cilantro and it tasted awesome, my favorite food truck so far! I love how you can bring your dog and they do provide water for your dog. If you plan on drinking the bouncer will ask to see your ID before going in and they will give you a wristband. They have live music at night and sometimes play different genres of music. I wish parking could do a little better! I had to park all the way in the other side of roadrunner way, it’s that packed. So if you love food trucks, beer, live music this place is for you.

Great outdoor spot! All the food trucks provide a variety of options for everyone. They have games and a giant blow up screen to watch whatever sports may be on. The bar offers craft beers, pre-mixed cocktails and great pitcher specials. It does get pretty busy on the weekends so seating can be hard to find. Also the trucks run out of food so come early!

I’m so glad that this place has become as successful as it has. I remember passing by when it first open and seeing no one there and I couldn’t understand why. It’s in a great location and who doesn’t like beer? Recently I went to SA to visit some friends and we passed by The Block and there was a great crowd. I was pretty shocked and decided that we should stop here for few drinks before heading to fiesta. We had a great time. I was up and see a chill crowd of college students and adults with their children just enjoying the food from the near by food trucks and having a drink. My group bought a few pitchers of beer and to keep it cold the bartender came over and brought us bags of ice to place inside the pitchers. Also she recommended we try the sangria and I ended up having three because it was so tasty. There’s plenty of seating and even though it was a pretty hot day the cover overhead and the most from the sprinklers kept us very cool. I really enjoyed myself, but most of all I was proud to bring some friends from out of town to the UTSA area and show them a good time. I’ll be back!

My likes: — The atmosphere. I like I can come here for lunch and not be totally bothered by large groups of people. It may be because I usually come here before or after the lunch rush but it’s still legit. — The restrooms. Clean and well-maintained. I get a kick out of the sliding barn-style doors. And they do have a heat lamp for those colder days when you need to relieve yourself. — Covered eating area. Of course, not all of it is covered but there’s at least an area that is. Helps when the sun’s all over you during most of the Texas heat. — The food park is in great condition. Especially considering the amount of customers they have during the weekends. — The food trucks. I’ve only had a chance to try a couple of the trucks but they had some very tasty food. — The bar and the employees. Hospitable employees and the bar is kept clean as well. My dislikes: — The parking area. Very small and limited to the point that if you come here during peak times, you’ll be forced to park along the road(if you’re not associated with UTSA and have a parking tag or live close by). — The food truck rotation during the summer lunch hours. Of course this could be contributed to the fact that I come off lunch times but the majority of the time I see Chela’s out here. That’s about the gist of it. :)

The Block is kind of great. They have a constantly rotating line of food truck, we all knoe I love those, they have a decent beer selection, the grounds are beautiful, there is generally some games like corn hole or washers out to keeo you entertained if you don’t feel like just sitting at a picnic table. All in all it is one of the great food truck parks in San Antonio. The only complaint I have is the parking. The lot is small, REALLY small. There is street parking but you end up walking quite a ways if you have to use that. It is near UTSA so I assume most of the students that come often walk or ride their bikes. It just isn’t good for someone like me that doesn’t live in the area.

This is a pretty cool food truck plus bar place. There is a large covered area that houses the bar. Their red sangria was pretty good. They also had a their version of long island ice tea plus a lemonade(also ETOH). They also had some frozen concoctions of margarita, hurricane, & white Russian(I think). Tried the Margarita– not a big fan. Switched back to the sangria. Pretty good selection of draft & can beer but you can’t really see what they have available in can since its behind the bar(little awkward). There were 6 food trucks when we went &4 of the were opened. There was BBQ, Pakistani, Mexican, & a fourth truck that I didn’t check out so I don’t know what they were serving. There was a cajun place that wasn’t opened & an a Chinese/Asian place that opened after we placed our food orders @ other places. My Pakistani kabob chicken on their flat bread(taco style) was good but the BBQ was disappointing(thats what happens when hubby’s BBQ is phenomenal). I would have chosen something other than the BBQ. The place is dog friendly but not kid friendly. Yes there is an open grassy area life size connect four thingamajig & there are the table-sized legos, but its for adults. People with kids– don’t kid yourselves by bringing your children with you and thinking that its a playground w/a bar. Nope– its a bar. Not like other places in town bc of location lots of young college students. I can see that it could get a little louder and wilder @ night. Definite repeat & will be my go to food truck destination in the area :)
