Yeah i took in a JBLPRX715 and paid for a diagnostic. Fine. It took approx. 4 – 5 weeks, for a DIAGNOSTIC. Not sure what else could be happening there because when i went it was slow and quiet… Anywho, fine, they said it would take a while for a diagnostic. They finally called and gave me the problem and the cost to fix. It WAS a reasonable cost. I gave the go ahead and a week or so later it was fixed. Brought it back to work and a couple of months pass and the same speaker fails. SHOULDNOTHAPPEN. My other JBL same model has been going STRONG years after an initial repair by Mr. E’s. Going back to them with this broken one. SHRUG

I let these people rebuild my Pioneer turntable in 2010. I even took them an extra turntable for parts, I wanted them to make the turntable that I purchased in 1976 like new. they charged me almost $ 200. and they lost the sub weight on the back of the primary weight. you just don’ lose parts they stole it as far as I am concerned… The turntable never sounded correct, and made loud clicking noses when the automatic return engaged. Like a dummy I took them my Teac reel to reel for service when I picked up my turntable this was in Mar 2010. All they did was clean and service it. They charged me $ 216.25 for this service. I did not realize that they had screwed me until I recently took my reel to reel for cleaning to Georgetown TV and Audio, in Georgetown, and for the same exact service on my reel to reel only charged me $ 92.98… Normally prices go up after 6 years not down… so I come to the logical conclusion that The Sound Idea is ripping off people. I even dealt directly with the owner(son of original owner). Don’t trust these people to offer you a fair cost for their work. make the drive to Georgetown and believe me, they family owned business in Georgetown is clean, the people are great, and the service is very reasonable… and when you pull into their drive way you will not be afraid of getting mugged as you get out of your vehicle.

They don’t set any speed records for service, but they are very thorough. You can’t rush quality. I will be back!

I had a bad PA speaker which I have owned for about 16 years. A Soundtech with 15″ sub and smaller 4″ cone. The crossover went out and was causing cutouts. Those of you who are DJs know what I mean. Anyway, took the bad speaker to Sound Idea. Was told upfront about two weeks. OK. Three weeks later, speaker is repaired and sounds GREAT! No problem with the extra wait time as long as the job is done right. If you need repair done sooner, there is an extra $ 25 rush fee. Don’t expect to have your equipment back overnight, though. These are professionals, and it does take some time to properly diagnose and repair. But it is worth the wait. I promise. And for those of you who are«old school», they also repair reel-to-reels(how long has it been since you used a R2R?), smaller stereo speakers, and other electronics. They also sell auto radio faces and other electronic items. Just ask! Good work, very reasonable pricing, and professional service. Will be using Sound Idea again and in the future!
