Just received a call from 2 of my relatives, apparently they were told this morning they’re never allowed in Tommy’s again, PEROWNER. It’s obviously done because of my posts. I don’t waste time to let Unilocal users know how good or bad an establishment is. Tommy’s gets rid of their good servers because of personality clashes with the owner. If a server is liked by the kitchen staff and others you will get good service and maybe good food. I’m tired of this place inadequate service and food! Not worth the time or money. It’s obvious they’ve lost lots of clientele. Last time I went was Sunday, asked for soft scrambled, get hard scrambled. Returned it then kitchen manager and Janette charged at me like 2 bulls. Upset that I returned the taco that wasn’t made to my specifications! I made up my mind that it’s no more Tommy’s. I commend all staff that left for better establishments. Hope you can turn it around. First get rid the servers that think they own it, if they were they would know how to treat their bread and butter. SOUNDSLIKE A DISCRIMINATIONSITUATION. What do you think? OUT no more post from me on this place.

First time at Tommy’s the tacos were excellent I had their special«Big Red and Barbacoa taco», and a miga taco! Excellent!!! Better than Blanco’s. I am from Houston but come to SATX regularly Tommy’s is my new breakfast place.

I usually love tommys always get breakfast tacos but lately dam man, I usually order bacon egg and potato and they started giving me raw bacon like one side cooked and the other side not done so I started telling them crispy bacon, so they started burning the bacon UGH so now I say crispy bacon NOT burnt well it’s still burnt. So annoying, today I told the girl crispy not burn and I got some bacon that was so hard I could not bite into it . It’s a constant battle about bacon with them what’s so hard about getting it right? And the worst part they charge me extra for each taco for burnt or raw bacon. Every time.

I love the San Antonio taco shops that seem like part taco shop/part coffee shop. You get the atmosphere, good coffee and friendly service like you would in a diner — but with awesome tacos instead of pancakes and waffles, etc. Tommy’s tacos are solid. Large for the price, too. We tried machacado, steak mexicana, potato and bean and potato and sausage patty. They were all good. The one that stood out most to me was the potato and bean. The beans were so meaty and good. I’ve had a lot of potato bean tacos and most have been«just ok» but Tommy’s is outstanding. I notice a lot of reviewers mention homemade corn tortillas but the corn tortilla that my machacado came on didn’t seem homemade. Homemade or not, I didn’t think it was up to par with a lot of corn tortillas I’ve had but the flour tortillas were excellent. The machacado taco, while stuffed, had a higher egg/meat ratio than some other places I go, too. I liked the green salsa on the table. Next time I go I will have to ask if they have a red salsa. .I’m sure they do. I tend to like hot, red salsa on tacos with beef or beans and green on everything else. My family is nuts, in general, for sausage patty and potato tacos so anyplace that offers them immediately goes into the taco rotation. I will definitely be getting more bean and potato tacos, too.

Just another Mexican Restaurant to settle for mediocre Mexican food. The staff is pretty friendly, especially to the male clientele if you catch my drift. Never order bacon from here because it’s consistently fatty.
