Food was very good. However, we came to eat right as they opened for the day and our table and seats were filthy and there was salt all over the floor underneath a nearby table. The annoying part to this was that there were at least 10 staff members standing around chit chatting that could have very well been cleaning. The hostess and the waiter both had zero personality and we left with the feeling of that we were bothering them or were an inconvenience. We would probably go back only because the food was pretty darn good and I loved the uniqueness of the menu. My suggestion is to train your staff to be more attentive to their surroundings at work as opposed to each other.

The best micheladas. Nice atmosphere. Food is good not traditional a little fancier but there is a nice selection. Fun place to go on a Friday after work with friends.

Been coming here for years and never had a problem until now. Found a bug in my drink. So, ok, no biggie just get it replaced. Wasn’t bothered until I saw the bartender joke about just taking the bug out of the drink. Look, I get it, I used to work in a restaurant, but don’t pull that crap about joking about bugs in my drink in visual shot of the customer. Ordered the shrimp quesadillas. And omg. It’s like the taste of the nastiest smells I encounter while working in the ER. They refused to refund the item and that’s what got me. And of course when we leave the server rushes to our table to see what tip we left him before we’re halfway to the door. And even though his skills as a server weren’t worth the 20%, tip he was lucky we left it. Train your servers and bartenders to have some tact.

Excellent customer service even though it was crowded because we went on a holiday evening. The margaritas were on special at $ 5, the tamarindo and Urban Swirl were the best. And for the main plates, the Veggie Quesadilla and the Avocado Ceviche Tower were amazing. Highly recommended!

The food is not bad, the drinks are great, but the service is terrible. I’m a regular and I’ve had decent service, but that depends on the server. However, from time to time, they have rude staff. For example, the server comes by, does not greet, drops off chips. Leaves. Drops off water. Leaves. I had to get the manager’s attention to place my order. Why is it that such a big business has such terrible staff serving? Lots of room for improvement. If you’re looking for great service, save yourself the ignorant staff. ***UPDATE*** 5÷5÷2016 After discussing the matter with the general manager, the situation was taken care of. I’m a regular here and although some of the servers still need more grooming, this is indeed a great place. The best margaritas and the food is not bad at all. Fresh guac and my personal favorite is the pollo con mole tacos… A must try! Thank you Raymond!

Love this place! Everything is so delicious I had the trio guac with yucca chips and fell in love with the one with Mole not to mention the ceviche tower with fresh seafood! I started being nosy and asked and everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Tried the tacos and the chicken tinga and arrachera are authentic, fresh, and I was even able to get them on lettuce! Service was great… they were on top of everything! Definitely my new hang out spot with delicious food and good prices.

We went to Urban Taco for a large group lunch(unplanned). They were able to accommodate us and with a chaotic large group, the waiter was really flexible and professional. Here is the good, the bad and the meh… Good: Excellent drinks(margaritas and michiladas), excellent salsa and great chips! Bad: Nothing was really bad — it was all just okay… Meh: The food. The tacos were just ok(Barbacoa, Carnitas, Roasted corn) — my favorite of those was the roasted corn. I would recommend going for drinks and chips/salsa or appetizers but skip a regular meal…

I really like Urban Taco. The service is always friendly and the food is yum. I like that the servers seem to all be bilingual. Oh, and the drinks are especially good! I like all of their margaritas, especially mango and passion fruit. If you don’t drink or don’t feel like drinking alcohol get their aguas they are great. They also have excellent yuca chips and a variety of salsas that are all delicious. I like all their tacos too, especially the ahi tuna and red snapper tacos! The only thing I have not liked that I’ve ordered was the ceviche crudo. On the menu it sounded delicious but it lacked flavor and I just did not enjoy it at all. I haven’t given their other ceviches a chance but I have definitely had much better ceviche at other places. Urban Taco is for sure one of my favorite spots at the Quarry to eat.

Love this place! The salsas are so good. The guac trio is amazing. They offer to make it skinny with veggies which I like. New customers get free trio of salsa. Good beer, great service and a nice little place to hang out

Went for lunch on a Saturday and it was pretty good. I freaking love the tortilla chips and guacamole… I am pretty sure I ate the entire thing by myself. I would eat that alone and be satisfied. I ended up ordering a breakfast taco that was ok. My husband order a 3 taco plate with a variety and it was good. The pork was dry, but the chicken one was on point. Prices are a tad steep, but they’re going for a trendy thing, so I get it. We might go back if in the area again.

In the land of tacos, Urban Taco unfortunately doesn’t stand out. I will say, however, that they do have some pretty good food, and you definitely won’t leave hungry. Urban Taco’s vibe is cool, and being a part of the Quarry doesn’t hurt. Sitting on the patio on a nice Texas day is a pleasant experience: I recommend it! We were seated quickly and were offered some yucca(yuca?) chips which we quickly devoured. They don’t come with a dipping sauce or salsa, so I recommend getting the salsas. We also ordered the trio of salsas which were definitely the high point of our meal, and it was a nice way to try some different options. Their salsas are more like dips, with tons of unique options, like their peanutty option or a pesto based option. The peanutty one has a heat that sneaks up on you… in a good way. We enjoyed all three of the salsas, and I recommend trying ones that you normally wouldn’t, just for the experience. Both of us ordered the trio of tacos with two sides for $ 12. Not too bad of a price, although I wouldn’t recommend ordering the sides on their own(unless they up the sizes… I don’t think they’re worth their price if they’re the same size as the ones on the trio plate). My husband enjoyed his meaty tacos, and his green rice was phenomenal. Black beans had a good flavor as well. My ahi tuna taco was the best of my three, for sure. The zucchini taco and shrimp taco both lacked in flavor, and although they were pretty to look at they were not the best to eat(sadly). My roasted corn side was perfectly flavored, but the jicama/mango slaw wasn’t my all-time fave. We didn’t order drinks, but they were a bit pricey(and the ones I saw coming out of the bar were on the small side). Overall, I was impressed with the presentation and most of the food, but there were definitely some things lacking. I don’t know if I’ll make myself a regular here, but it’s a good place to try out if you’re in the area!

Excellent service on a Wednesday evening with two kids! Try the mango agua. Thursday nights are half off for draft beer and margaritas. Love the option of taqueria to try three different tacos like al pastor, con mole, and there are seafood too. Ahi tuna, red snapper, crabs are all yummy. Easy parking access too with nearby shopping options.

Had lunch here today and ordered the 2 taco meal with the black beans and rice. I love this place. It’s absolutely one of my favorites. I brought a friend here today who has never been and she loved it!!! Now the reason I gave only 4 stars was due to the waiter. He was RUDE… I’m just hoping next time I don’t get him. I don’t remember his name. I’ll be sure to pay closer attention to that next time

I really enjoy urban taco. If you’re looking for some awesome flavors and a chic atmosphere, this is the right place! Urban taco has a lot of lovely menu options that you won’t get many other places in San Antonio. This is a refreshing departure from Tex-Mex, and while I am no expert of authentic Mexican cuisine I really appreciate the available offerings. The yuca chips are complimentary and have a nice chili lime flavor, the corn tortillas are consistently up to par! Service is mostly good, sometimes it can be spotty but never bad. Drink menu is impressive as well, and they have almost always have soccer on the TVs behind the bar. If I’m in the Quarry and need a good, fair priced place to have lunch, this is where I’ll be!

Yes, the portions are small. And yes, the prices are high. None of this will matter to you once you order the roasted corn con lime crema. Seriously, it’s like fancy corn in a cup available all the time and without the hassle of mixing your own spices at the hot edge of a taco truck. My husband and I always share when we eat here. He’ll order ceviche or a shrimp cocktail, I’ll order the three taco combo. Their molé is fabulous and I love their ago tuna. My hubby gets to pick the third taco. We always order double corn as a side. If you want salsa you have to order and pay for it. Yeah, that’s not the norm in San Antonio, but this isn’t your normal salsa. If you’re really hungry it’s good to order the trio. If you’re not, just munch on the complimentary yucca chips. Their drinks are great. I have never had a bad margarita at Urban Taco.(I don’t do frozen though, so I can’t speak for those.) Specifically, the hibiscus margarita is delicious. I probably should give them four stars due to the price… but I just can’t. It’s the corn.

I’m so torn on this review. The food was, in general, outstanding. Unique and full of flavor. The ceviche tower… wow! My Tinga Taco was drowning in grease, but oh-so-tasty. Whatever their corn salad and slaw sides are were also pretty fantastic. The décor is modern, urban-y, and they have mouthwash in the bathroom. fun! Otherwise… prices are a bit high, portions are bit small, atmosphere is a bit pretentious, waiter was practically condescending… And… they charge for salsa?! Maybe somewhere else, people, but this is San Antonio. Salsa should be flowing. I guess I just feel like $ 75 for a family lunch(NOT including drinks) where we all leave still hungry… means I just can’t leave more than three stars.

We came here after leaving another restaurant in the quarry(15 mins without being acknowledged) and we’re pleasantly surprised. I had the three tostadas with tuna, crab and mushroom. Loved the crab, tuna was a little oily and mushroom was very sweet tasting. My urban margaritas were amazing! Hubby had the 3 tacos n loved the chicken but couldn’t get enough of the corn side! Food and drink prices were reasonable and the service was great.

We went on a Thursday because drinks are half off all day! We tried the urban swirl frozen margarita as well as the blueberry mojito. The margarita was amazing, perfect mix of tequila and mango. The mojito was good but was less strong than I’m used to. They immediately bring you house made tortilla, yuca, and plantain chips — they were all so delicious. For my entrée, I had three tacos with the poblano green rice(absolutely incredible!) and black beans. The tacos I had were al pastor, chicken tingas, and the aracherra steak. All were very flavorful, from the meat itself to the toppings and the salsa on them was AHHHMAZING! I definitely suggest this place to anyone, it’s a great after-work dinner spot especially with the Thursday drink specials :)

I visited this place a while ago, but decided to visit again after a friend convinced me to go for thejr Thirsty Thursday special. Although their tacos are relatively cheap, they are not that filling or appetizing. I ordered the ahi tuna taco and a red snapper taco, both of which I cannot remember much about. They tasted pretty mediocre, especially compared to something as innovative as Torchy’s, which is down the street. The mango jicama slaw was also slightly disappointing. It would have been better if they were crunchier and had a stronger taste. As for their Thirsty Thursday drinks, I really liked the mango mojito. It was smooth and sweet. My friend ordered the frozen mango margarita, which unfortunately, was not as great. I have yet to find a decent margarita in San Antonio that has a smooth tequila taste. The tequila was a bit too strong in this drink for my friend and me. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. Overall, I may return for their half-priced drinks, but not their food. I gave them 3 stars for the friendly staff, cleanliness, and atmosphere since their live band actually sounded pretty amazing. I thought they were playing music from a sound system until I stepped outside and saw the musicians playing.
