Second time eating here. Excellent, well prepared, flavorful food. Very friendly service too, and not expensive. I highly recommend it.

I was looking for this particular spot on Laurel that my BF had bought Wan Ton soup from that was to die for. Anyway I thought this was the place because he said towards the end of Laurel St in Downtown San Carlos turns out it is ABSOLUTELYNOT the place. I ordered the Wan Ton soup, Chicken Fried Rice and Honey Prawns. They were all mediocre at best and the worst part was the price more than $ 40 for these 3 things!

I’ve always been happy with everything we’ve ordered here. Pretty standard but tasty. Easy and convenient on Laurel street, and the people working here have always been very quick and very friendly.

Ordered from here tonight and it was far from great. Here is my breakdown Quick delivery Decent chicken chow main(no spice at all) Decent pot stickers but very doughy Won Ton Soup-tasted like warm water no flavor Beef Szechwan-deep fried and just terrible texture and tasted greasy(my husband wouldn’t eat it) Oh and one packet of soy sauce. The search continues…

Went here with my girlfriend around 7:30 on a Tuesday. Food was very fresh, portions were plentiful, staff was friendly. I ate the basil chicken and prawns on top of fried rice. GF had egg foo young.

This is our go-to place for Chinese food. We love it for eating in or taking out. At times the phone can be ringing off the hook and the waitresses can seem like they are in a hurry, but the food is good and the service is friendly and fast. The waitress always takes time to talk to my kids and she seems to know a lot of the customers. Return customers are always a good sign.

Been coming here maybe around 9 months. Keep waiting to end up with something I don’t love. The wait continues… My last two deliveries have been a bit of a let down. Not sure if there’s been any change in ownership or chefs but it just seems like the quality has gone down. Last time got the mango shrimp, which I’ve had a couple times before and loved, and this time the breading on it was mush and barely edible. This time I opted for the salt & pepper prawn and same kind of thing. Mushy and very little flavor. I got the Singapore rice noodles, which I forgot I have got before and didn’t care for. They’re very dry and just boring. Last time I got the Hong Kong style noodles, delicious! The ginger onion beef had a bit of a bitter taste and the garlic eggplant, which is usually quite sweet and delicious had a sour flavor. Everything is just off and I’m definitely going to have seconds thoughts about ordering from here again. Sad to say cause I was loving this place for awhile.

This was the perfect post-movie Christmas Eve Chinese Reastraunt. It’s not huge, but a good sized place that even had a few tables still available for walk ins on a busy night. The service was good and the menu had plenty of good options. We had the lettuce chicken wraps which were scrumptious, the mixed vegetables which were lightly cooked, fresh and nice and crisp. The sauce was subtle enough to allow the flavors of the vegetables to come through. The wonton soup was to die for with all sorts of greens and very fat wontons and the honey walnut prawns were sweet, juicy and almost a dessert by themselves. Even the fortune cookies were tasty and not chewy. I’d go back for certain.

Pretty standard Chinese food. My wife and I ordered the sizzling rice soup and an order of pot stickers. While both were good, not sure they were good enough for a return trip. The place looked clean and the service was very good(even though they seemed a little understaffed).

A winter review for Yan’s is super easy to write because of one thing: Sizzling Rice Soup. Had it before? Theirs is the best. Never had it? You have to try it, especially on a cold, damp winter day. Get the large bowl. Eat it there. Takeout is fine, but nothing beats when they bring the giant steaming bowl of chicken vegetable soup to your table and pour in the sizzling rice. Wow. Wish I had some now. The lettuce wraps with garlic pork are excellent, too. Really reasonable prices.

I liked the chicken with garlic sauce(one of my favorite Chinese takeout dishes). The flavor was exactly what I wanted and the chicken pieces were good. They also had broccoli pieces which is usually not present. They did have a lot of water chestnuts though and I hate these so next time I would ask for fewer water chestnuts. The orange beef was a bit odd. It tasted mostly of sweet breading and not much else. I would skip this dish. The medium soups are quite large. I had the sweet corn soup. It’s basically egg drop soup with some corn. It wasn’t bad although a bit thick(like too much cornstarch maybe).

Ordered 3 things House fried rice — Pretty bland Generals chicken — Had some spice to it, but oddly lacking flavor Combination grilled skewers — shrimp, chicken and beef, all in the same sauce, it was the best of the 3 things I ordered, but not great. Delivery guy was super nice, I gave and extra star for good friendly service, but food only would be a 2*. I was really hoping for more based on the reviews.

Wife and I ate here after San Carlos art and wine festival. Our first visit and surely not the last. We were greeted at the door by a lady who later introduced herself as Ling, what a sweetheart. Fantastic service and super friendly. She asked if we like potstickers because she personally makes them by hand every day, turns out I’m a bit of a potsticker junkie and always try them whenever we go to a Chinese place. I gotta admit she said she makes the best, and they were pretty darn good. We also had Mongolian Shrimp(lots of nice size shrimp like 30 count size I’m guessing), House Special fried rice, and beef satay. All were excellent as well as very generous portions, we took enough home to make another meal. When finished the check was brought with a whole sliced orange, a very nice touch. We also picked up a carry out menu as we were told they will deliver to Belmont free with a 25 dollar order. Give this place a try.

So, this isn’t about their food because I was a loyal customer for years! I live in San Carlos, on top of the hills because let’s face it, that’s mostly San Carlos and what happened today? I start my online order, and red letter’s pop up. «This restaurant does not deliver in this address.» Uhm? Wtf is this? Thank’s for cutting me off after being a loyal customer for years. I’m sure you lost all the valuable customers living in SC hills because you are too lazy to make the drive now, Lol! Goodbye Yan.

I have ordered from here three times. This has been some of the best Chinese food I have ever had and portions are generous and a lot of flavor. I recommend eating and to boot the prices are very reasonable.

Went for dinner over the long weekend. Not a place for vegetarian like me. The Hot and Sour soup was okay, but they messed up our main course. The assorted vegetables was simply cooked vegetables in turmeric water with loads of turmeric floating. The pan fried noodles were over salty. Very much disappointed as I was let down on my expectation based on 4 star ratings given to this place.

I ordered shrimp wonton noodle soup to go and it was not what I was expecting. Even thought they separated the noodle from the broth, the egg noodles were soggy to begin with. I don’t like soggy noodles. Plus, the broth was salty! And another thing was that I was expecting shrimp wontons. Where the shrimp was INSIDE the wontons… Not pork wontons with over cooked shrimp pieces thrown into the broth along with it. Disappointed. Probably won’t order from here again… I’m not sure about the other food.

I am always on the hunt for some good Chinese as it really hard to find. The service here was super friendly, they treat you like family. I love that they offer you a choice of complimentary soups. I tried the chicken corn chowder, it was filled with plenty of chicken. I also ordered the combination appetizer, which was a bit greasy and just okay. Then I ordered the tomato beef chow men, also just okay, lacked flavor compared to other restaurants. Prices are very reasonable and parking can be hard on Laurel Street.
