Rating for the rooftop bar only, as I did not stay at this hotel. WOW! This spot is a must see if you’re looking for somewhere to grab drinks, dinner and/or catch the sunset. The ambiance is great. Very upbeat and inviting. The views are breathtaking. We shared many appetizers and a Cobb-like salad, all were delicious. Their menu featured many appealing cocktails, many of which included fresh squeezed fruits in them. There appeared to be only one server/bartender for the entire rooftop. She was incredibly busy and I think the pressure may have impacted her service level a bit. She was efficient and friendly, but she was so busy that you almost felt bad asking for something.

THEBEST — hands down!!! The service is better than anywhere we have stayed. We only stay at HYATT properties and this is one of our favorites that we have ever been to.(So much that we have to visit a couple times a year just for pleasure!) the staff is FANTASTIC!!! We have never stayed somewhere where they card about their guests more. So impressed!

Great location and great rates. My folks stayed here taking advantage of a nice rate online. Even without the nice rate, they’re still a strong hotel without it. Perfect location downtown. Rooms are a little tight, but they make up for it with immaculate care and quality. Very clean and minimal rooms. I like the clean design and their generosity in the rooms and lobby. If you’re putting someone up in SD or visiting, this is one of the better options for downtown.

The rooftop bar is amazing. No entry charge! It’s super cozy and you can see great views of downtown. The drinks are so good as well. One of the best mojitos I’ve had.

I just stayed here this past weekend. I loved the décor. This place is super trendy. from the lobby to the rooms. The location is right in the middle of Gaslamp district, so it’s within walking distance to the bars, restaurants, and shopping. I left my sandals after I checked out and they shipped it back overnight! However I did have to harass them because they claimed I didn’t leave it. My only complaint is that its super noisy… although they do provide ear plugs. The shower doors are clear which is right next to the bed. It’s meant for two people. There are 2 shower heads. Sexxxyyy! Coming back with someone special next time. BHAHAAHAHA!!! Room plus valet came out to $ 350 ish for one night

We had a pleasant one night stay here during Thanksgiving weekend. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming and was thorough when explaining the details of the room and hotel. The hotel is modern and in a great location in Gaslamp within walking distance to all the bars and restaurants. Luckily, it wasn’t noisy for us like some of the other reviewers mention; however, if it were, the hotel does provide earplugs. I did have one huge issue with the room regarding the bathroom. There is NO privacy. This can be appealing when you’re staying as a couple and want to take a peak while the other is in the shower, but other than that, yikes. Good luck if you actually need to use the toilet. In fact, while having breakfast on the rooftop in the morning I saw several couples making their way to the public bathroom on the rooftop. I could only imagine that they were all holding it in. Speaking of the rooftop, it is very nice and you get great views of downtown!

I was NOTIMPRESSEDATALL. If this hotel is ¾ stars I need a 10 star hotel! The hotel is cool, hip, and trendy. However, after spending time in the Gaslamp District I realized that there are probably much nicer hotels. Andaz looks great online but the rooms were extremely small. The bathrooms are so awkward because although there are glass doors they don’t actually close shut, which means there is no real privacy. Rooms are clean but VERYDINGY! Linen was also dingy which gave me a little anxiety when laying down. Parking is terrible… wait…it didn’t exist! If you bring your vehicle your only option is to valet at $ 40 per day or park blocks away and walk back. I chose the second option simply because if you valet they take your car and park it in some unknown location! No thanks! Bottom line, if your a traveler and are used to upscale hotels, Andaz might be a little disappointing. Do your research! There are far more better hotels in the area.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in! Gorgeous location in the heart of down town. The entire hotel is decked out in gorgeous décor and details. The hotel staff was so warm and friendly! They made sure all of our needs were taken care of immediately. It was the perfect place to stay the weekend of our wedding! Our photographers were able to get gorgeous shots of us up by the roof top pool and lounge area, as well as in the amazing lobby! This hotel is a bit on the pricier side. but if you are celebrating a special event, it is well worth every penny!

I am really enjoying this wave of boutique hotels! Andaz came highly recommended by a friend that stayed at one of their locations in Maui so I decided to check out the San Diego location. Because I was in town for a conference two things where important to me, location and location! I needed to be close to the airport and conference center but I also didn’t want to be too close to either. The Andaz was perfect! This is a very hip customer centric run establishment and I greatly appreciated the obvious thought into my stay. As in I really felt like I was the only guest(even though the place was full)! They had wine tasting in the lobby and lounge experiences in the beautiful rooftop in the evenings. I enjoyed the pool area for relaxing and sun bathing. If it was warmer I would have utilized the pool. My room was ver contemporary and the complimentary snacks, water and select beverages was greatly appreciated. The beds are so comfortable that I was in such a deep sleep that I was confused when I woke up lol!?! Like where am I? I look forward to checking out other locations for sure!

This is a hotel for wanna be hipsters. Felt more like I walked into a nightclub. Room wasn’t clean. The hallways looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed is a while. There was a crusty yellowish something on my blind in 2 spots. After the maid came in I figured it would be cleaned. Nope she just raised the blind. I will attach pictures. I will probably never stay here again.

Holy Hyatt! This hotel is an awesome gem right in the heart of the Gaslamp district… Thanks to a suggestion from Brad B, I made a reservation to stay at the Andaz for a couple of nights last week, and it surpassed my expectations. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating from check-in to check-out. I was upgraded to a suite upon check-in, and my room was spacious and comfortable with a nice view, a comfortable desk, a couch, a bathroom with all the amenities, a comfortable bed, etc… Wifi worked well, and the room service I had one morning was great too! The hotel gym is small but I was able to get in a treadmill /weight workout one morning, and there are plenty of yoga studios nearby for anyone who may be seeking those out. I didn’t get to hang at the pool, so I guess I’ll have to return to do that next visit. If you’re looking for a conveniently located, moderately priced, comfortable hotel in the heart of San Diego, the Andaz may be just the place!

It is almost as if you can here Nelly sing, «It’s getting hot in here… so take off all your clothes… I am I am so hot… get ready because this room is dirtaaaay!» Welcome to the Star Suite and believe me you will feel like a rock star in this hotel room. If you need a hotel room for a bachelor party, a bachelorette party, or if you just have a group that likes to get freaky… I found you your room! The Star Suite is 1275 feet of partytastic luxary that would make even Bacchus blush. You need a shower for two? Try a shower for 10 and that’s just one of them. Everyone here can shower together if they like, or hop into the tub made for the whole party. «Peek-a-Boo»…you can also make the doors of your shower see-through so the people in your room can see the show too. The shower in the master bedroom is humongous you can jump from shower to the tub and still have room to dance around if you like. Speaking of dancing around, did I mention that there is a stripper pole in the room? Yes planted straight in front of the King Size bunk beds. If you like to see yourself in the mirror, look up and you will definitely catch a glimpse of yourself… there are mirrors that line the ceiling of the entire hotel room. You’ll even find mirrors for both levels of the bunk beds and on the ceiling of the master king bedroom. However, the bunk beds were my favorite. Don’t worry you don’t need to jump onto the top, for there is a set of stairs leading up to what I am sure will be some sleepy-time decadence. In the suite, you have one main bedroom, but the bunk beds have their own separate area that can be made into a separated room by simply closing a set of stylish drapes. The room was fully decked out with a cool retro looking couch, mini bar, fridge, complimentary Wi-Fi, and pretty much anything you could imagine. We had a party of 10 which slept comfortably, but if people pass out on the floor from too much celebration, then you could fit in more, for all your Roman orgy needs. Ok, like me maybe you don’t plan to take the party that far, but at the very least you and your friends will have a selfie celebration as this suite is one you are going to want to document and share with all those who couldn’t make the party… Truly a once-in-a– lifetime experience. The hotel is located in the middle of San Diego’s Gas Lamp District, so it is within walking distance from all the restaurants and nightlife. This hotel’s night cub RoofTop600 rocks out with chic fire pits and awesome music. During the day you can swim in the rooftop pool and or go workout at the 24-hour gym. The service at the hotel is superb and everyone went above and beyond to help. The only negative about this place was the parking. Highway robbery, $ 40 a night for valet parking, and that’s the only place to park unless you park in a meter on the street.

I have some mixed feelings about this Andaz. –Although friendly clerks at check-in, no offer of refreshment. Further, in the morning when I attempted to grab a coffee, the area was messy and they were out of cups(they were eventually replenished) –Although the rooms have that same modern look, they are very small(my room in Manhattan was way bigger) –Although conveniently located in the Gaslamp, when I looked out the window, you have a view of homeless people sleeping on the street. So sad. BUT, maybe some of the hiccups were due to Taylor Swift’s concert and more traffic than usual. For example, on Sunday morning, took us over 20 minutes to get car from valet(plus parking cost $ 40/day) The rooftop was quite the party at night and incredibly peaceful by morning. The rooftop is the distinguishing feature of this hotel. Also, appreciated the signs, when exiting elevators, reminding guests to be quiet. I think it helped. Overall, a great party hotel.

I keep my promises!!! As I was walking out the door of this Hotel, the very nice and friendly people who are in the lobby to greet guests asked how my stay was. I assured her it was a five stars all the way and I would be posting my review on Unilocal! I made a last minute trip to SD, as I left my home in Santa Barbara I wasn’t even sure where I would be heading. In San Juan Capistrano I figured SD would be the destination and looked for a hotel online. Gas Lamp area sounded fun and the last minute hotel deals pointed me here. It cost about $ 50 more a night than the boring hotel circle which is a screaming deal. What do you get for your $ 50 extra? You get a glass of champagne when you walk in the door. You get a beautiful room with a beautiful view! You get a mini bar where the waters, soft drinks and even certain snacks are FREE! For the stuff that isn’t they give you a $ 10 credit! You get access to a wonderful rooftop with a gorgeous pool and an amazing bar. When the bar becomes a night club at 9 pm you get in for free. They treat you right and I can’t remember the last time I felt like I got so much for my money. My only gripe… The $ 10 credit doesn’t completely cover the $ 12 «Mini Intimacy Kit» Good thing I didn’t need it anyway.

Stayed for 3 beautiful nights in early November ’14. I was visiting San Diego solo and really enjoyed my stay at this gorgeous hotel! Upon check-in, I was warmly welcomed by an Andaz host. I explained that since I was travelling alone that I would prefer not to authorize the $ 100/day incidental rate. He was able to just authorize a total of $ 100 which I appreciated. O, there’s free wine at check-in at certain times! Cheers! I headed up to my room on the 6th floor in a corner which I loved. It was at the end of the hallway and I had a pretty good view of the city. I actually slept with my windows open since the weather is perfect. I enjoyed hearing the sounds of the city-my favorite part of my stay. Well, the king size bed was super comfy, and the bathtub was spacious, so those are a close second and third on the list of favorite things. I ordered breakfast from the pool bar one morning and it was SOO good. See my pictures for what I ordered and to see what my room looked like.

Okay so we stayed here right before the fourth of July. My only other Andaz experience was in Savannah and I kind of expected I guess the same experience. But it was different. I liked Savannah’s southern charm. When I walked in and out of the lobby the staff greeted me, here they don’t say anything. Comes off as a little less friendly. However, the hotel is classic Andaz. Great location in the Gaslamp district and very sleek and clean. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff upgraded our room. That was a very nice touch. Some people say that it is noisy due to the location. In our room there was a sound machine and ear plugs. I did not need them personally, and slept just fine for all my nights there. Now, for the reason I will never come back… the pool. There was no exclusivity to any paying customer. They had party after party up there where anyone could come pay and be there. It was ridiculous. Look, I am paying a lot of money… I better be able to sit my butt down poolside. There was no room. Oh and then those patrons who paid to come there put a further damper on my enjoyment of the hotel. There they were drunk and tipsy going up and down the elevator, lobby, halls touching you, speaking inappropriately, and making noise. Now I know I sound like a major buzzkill, but seriously guys, this was sloppy. I like to have a good time and all but this was a pretty piss poor way to do so.

The Andaz!!! Well, this hotel was pretty amazing. The rooftop was FIRE!!! You have the Fire pit, The pool was over looking the streets… Who doesn’t love to people watch and you can drink at the bar while you do it. This really was a great place to stay. Our room was a good size, The bed was really comfortable and the shower was to the best part! A glass shower that had two shower heads, really made the room so different from all the others. The only thing we had a problem with, not even 30 mins to us being there we were playing music and before we knew it there was a security guard telling us to turn it down because it was loud. Let’s just say I wasn’t very happy! The valet people were really quick, funny and kind. We asked them to please go out and get something out of the car and they offered to get it and bring it to the room! The front desk guys were very kind as well, very funny and helpful as well. I really recommend this hotel! Give it a shot!

From the moment I booked the reservation the Andaz was an above and beyond experience. I received an email right away confirming my reservation with the option to pre-request early check in and late check out. I selected both and they both were honored. Very late check out at 3 pm was a great way to grab breakfast AND lunch downtown before heading back up to the room to pack and take off. They have valet service out front and the cost is included in the room. For those of you who are familiar with the gaslamp area know how difficult parking can be. Made the experience smooth sailing. Check was a breeze and the staff knows how to properly serve their customers. They understand the importance of good hospitality and it made me feel confident we made the right choice for our stay-cation. We got into the room and it had very modern décor, was clean and had a decent view if the streets downtown. The room included free snacks and soft drinks. The shower was amazing floor to ceiling glass on both sides with 2 giant shower heads. Not very private but it was just and my date and made for a great time. There was some noise from the downtown traffic but the windows were sound proof so we closed them up and didn’t hear a thing. Later in the evening after dinner I had an upset stomach and called down to the front desk to ask if they had tums or something I could purchase. They informed me they did not. About 20 min layer the front desk clerk showed up with a smile on her face and handed me some tums! She had walked down to CVS to get them for me and they didn’t even charge!

I went here last night to celebrate my friend’s 24th birthday. This is a beautiful club/lounge & has panoramic views of downtown San Diego. The birthday girl ordered bottle service & got a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka, 3 mixers(pineapple, cranberry, soda water), & several slices of chocolate cake for $ 400. Our area was heated with heat lamps & we had 3 couches. We were a large group & when I requested another couch, the staff worker was more than accommodating & brought over another one. Great music variety — hip hop, rap, EDM.
