My dear friend on Unilocal Soo H. ate here and suggested the fish and chips but not the sides! Based on his recommendation my husband and I got away with ordering the children’s fish and chips. Fish seemed low quality but if you do find your self stuck here only wanting that, ask them! The portion was huge for the children’s menu but the service is extremely slow. In their defense we were there on New Year’s Eve and there was a lot of employees but simply no urgency. So sit back and enjoy the view.

Good for a quick bite of fried seafood or a seafood salad. Good portion sizes for the price. Was a bit disappointed my last visit, as the quality wasn’t as good as usual. Could be because they are leaving?

Every time we visit SanDiego we go to Anthony’s. My family and I love it. The atmosphere is perfect being on the water. They are very welcoming to kids. The food is excellent. We started off with coconut crusted shrimp we loved it. The clam chowder was my favorite. Everything we ordered was delicious. I got a crab and shrimp salad. The shrimp were huge and the crab perfect. Our drinks were never empty. I heard they may shut it down after their lease runs out. That would be ashamed. We always look forward to eating here when we visit SanDiego.

Went here today and first things first– the view!!! Amazing!!! This is supposed to be a quick grab and go place so I wasn’t expecting five star dining. We started with the clam chowder which is to die for! I would definitely come back for that. Also had the shrimp cocktail with crab and it was not what I expected. It was a tiny cup with 5 pieces of shrimp and lettuce at the bottom. I don’t recommend it. Lastly, we had the fish taco and it was a bit unseasoned. It tasted better after some salt and pepper but nothing amazing. All together, I recommend this place for a quick bite and good view.

Great place to eat whether it’s a date or catching up with a friend. You have a beautiful view of the harbor while eating which is really romantic. Fair prices for amazing food. If you want cheap go to McDonald’s. The clam chowder is creamy and very flavorful. Try the white chocolate martini too. It resembles an adult chocolate milk. Staff service is on point, fast, and friendly.

A sad farewell is coming to the Embarcadero soon. The idiots at the Port District, who like to sit around smoke-filled rooms on Pacific Highway and think up ways to make our waterfront area attractive and affordable to the tourists who clamor off the cruise ships, is giving the Anthony’s Fishette and Restaurant the boot when their longtime lease expires in 2017. I hope that all San Diegans who relish and cherish the history of our fine city will come out now to visit the Fishette and adjoining restaurant before they are both razed to put in yet another Brigantine’s and Miguel’s to clutter up the Bayside with. I grew up going to the Anthony’s around San Diego. I recall the La Jolla location near the Cove. I loved going to the Chula Vista eatery that was, shockingly, turned into a nudie strip club on E Street near the Nature Center! I have watched as Anthony’s as been whittled down to just a few restaurants left. Yes, that may be market forces at work. But the San Diego Bay location is such a wonderful one and the food if good too! I LOVE the white clam chowder. It is the perfect consistency and so satisfying, The tuna melt sandwich on sourdough is divine! I would recommend the cole slaw as a side but my son adores the Anthony’s Fishette french fries – cooked lightly. You cannot go wrong with the fish and chips and the shrimp salad with bay shrimp is too good! I prefer the more casual atmosphere of the Fishette as you go to the outdoor window, order & pay for your food and then wait while your number is called for pick-up. There are tables on a covered outdoor deck that can be overrun with hungry pigeons. Signs warn you not to feed the birds or a feeding frenzy might ensue. There is a small boat dock and great views of the Cruise Ship terminal. In fact, I have been at the Fishette several times, when foreign-looking workers come off the cruise ships on their shore breaks, and make a dash for the Fishette because these employees KNOW that there is good & affordable food there. Also, try going to the Fishette during the week at noon and watch as City of San Diego employees and court personnel from the Hall of Justice come walking down Ash Street for their fish fix. You will see all kinds of regular folks, like the 2 electricians who sat next to me last week, enjoying their lunch. Plenty of Mexican visitors love the restaurant, especially on Fridays, when good Catholics are supposed to eat fish. It is a real shame that all this will be lost soon but I suppose that is the price San Diego pays for what the Port would call«progress.» If you ask me, it is a regression and another slap in the face to the marvelous maritime history of the area that is being fast overrun with million dollar condos in nearby Little Italy and ugly, over-sized monstrosities that are coming soon, thanks to the clueless Port District. Go to the Fishette and Anthony’s while you can, people. Just about everything they offer is delicious. It will be with a heavy heart in 2017, when I click on the«edit business info» button on Unilocal and note that this business is «now closed.»

The fish tacos are tasteless. The are fried beyond recognition and the sauce is tasteless. If I hadn’t been really hungry I would have thrown it away and gone somewhere else. Trust me, go somewhere else.

I love this place because it’s a fantastic alternative to Anthony’s restaurant! The food is cheaper and you get the same great view because there’s seating all along the periphery of the restaurant! It’s super casual and the food comes from Anthony’s so it’s pretty much the same thing! I highly recommend you stop by but if you’re afraid of birds, then you’re out of luck!

Visiting San Diego from Alabama, I wanted to find a seafood restaurant on the water with great views. Anthony’s is a 5 min walk from the Hampton & the perfect location! Alfonso was my server. He is very knowledgeable about the menu & offered a couple of suggestions from the fresh fish. Paired it with a great wine & I was in heaven. The homemade sun dried tomato butter is wonderful.(I will try this at home). But you need to save room for dessert! The Zabione cake is out of this world!(Pound cake cover with rum custard & a scoop of spumoni) WOW Alfonso was also able to answer my questions about the area, suggested other local spot to try — for the best breakfast– but Anthony’s for dinner! My tip — listen to & trust your server!!! Thanks Alfonso!

By far my favorite place to eat in all of San Diego. I love it because it is literally on the water. You walk up and order and sit outside to eat. There’s a more expensive indoor option with wait staff and such. No thank you. If I were to have a «last meal» in life I would request the fried shrimp and french fries with gallons of the superior tartar sauce. I’d take it to the back where the seating faces the harbor and watch the sun set. All this for about 10 bucks. Best kept secret in town. Now I hear that Anthonys time is drawing to a close in this particular location. Seems that the city thinks a more expensive and upscale place needs to be there. Ugh. The One affordable place in the area and they want to replace it with something I’ll never be able to afford.

Anthony’s has been serving me incredible shrimp for most of my life. I have some great memories sitting next to the water eating amazing shrimp. Recently I had the shrimp and white fish platter that came with fries. As always, incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. If you have the time, place your order and find a seat along the side or rear of the bulding, listen to the gulls, admire the huge cruise ships and. the Star of India.

Definitely nothing amazing, but an easy place to grab some seafood and like others have said, the view is wonderful. Parking in this area is always a little complicated. We were just looking to get out of the house and had no agenda. We decided to come to this area because our toddler is obsessed with planes, boats and trains… yes, they are all here on the harbor! Based on reviews, we ordered the Clam Chowder, Fish & Chips and then got a Peroni(Italian beer). I think if you are looking for anything mind blowing, this is not the place. However, if you want some fried seafood, a wonderful view, no fuss so you don’t feel bad when your 9 month old girls start slinging food or when your toddler starts having a meltdown, THISISYOURPLACE. You order at the counter and then wait for your food. This is the only interaction you have with anybody that works there. For those in a hurry and not wanting to have to worry about leaving a tip, you’ll appreciate this. Not sure what fish they used in the Fish & Chips, but it was something mild and flaky. The fish and batter lacked flavor, but the tartar sauce it is served with makes up for the flavor. The«chips» were good, but you have to be a pretty bad restaurant to have bad fries. The Clam Chowder was good, but a little bland. Overall, it was the right atmosphere for a very pleasant afternoon.

Not to be confused with the full service seafood restaurant housed in the same building, the Fishette is a basic walk up fish and chips joint — with a twist. The location is exceptional. Order. Wait for your number to be called. Eat off of a styrofoam plate. Doesn’t sound too appealing until you stop and enjoy the view of the harbor. That changes everything. It’s easy to see why it’s both a tourist and local favorite. The food is simple. Fish and chips are $ 10.25. They’re fried in a light batter and not at all greasy. Also shrimp… the«mixed treasures» is a great sampler. They allow you to substitute sides if you don’t want fries. Kids meals are $ 6.50 and include fries and a drink. Chicken strips and grilled cheese are offered if fish is not your little one’s food of choice. The food is a bit pricy without the view, but an amazing bargain with it. Watch out for thieving seagulls that add to the atmosphere, and the thieving pigeons that, well, don’t.

The location is ideal on the harbor. The calamari is perfect and there are 2 delectable dipping sauces. The bread paired with the garlic butter is very tasty. The waiter we had was attentive and provided beer samples to ensure we were satisfied. I had the salmon pasta and it was well proportioned with pasta and salmon. My man had the mussels. The portions were perfect and the pricing even better! I would recommend if you are in the San Diego area!!!

One of my go to places for fried seafood. My parents and my family love this place. Always tastes fresh, even the fried stuff. Dad always gets the kids fish and chips, better price for almost same portion as regular size. Perfect portion for my dad’s appetite. I usually get the grilled fish or mixed treasures. Sad to hear the lease is gonna be up in 2017. I have a feeling they’re gonna lose the lease and some giant shopping thing will pop up. I hope at least the fishette stays. It’s a bayfront icon for sure.

I’m not a huge fish fan, but I love eating on the bay. I was used to going to the San Francisco bay, and getting quick cheap bites that were mouthwatering amazing! I haven’t found that yet in San Diego, but I will keep trying! This is a great walking area at Sunset. Parking is not bad either if you can score a spot around 6 pm or after, it’s free! Location: Positive — You can watch the sunset here while having a quick bite. Negative — You have feathered friends that are watching and waiting for your leftovers and flies that were constantly around. The people: There was a fussy patron, and staff that didn’t know how to handle a difficult situation. This was very loud and distracting. The FOOD: My friend and I came here for the fast fish and chips. He got the regular fish and chips plate, whereas I didn’t feel like eating a lot, got the kids fish and chips. To our surprise when they both came out, looked almost identical! He got 5 fish pieces, and I got 3 fish pieces both over a full plate of fries. His fish pieces were small, and mine were bigger, so it just about equaled the same! Except mine cost about $ 4 less! The fish and chips overall were just ok.

Angry looking cat lady temporarily wanders off Angry looking cat lady: When your register is counted at the end of the night and there is an extra $ 10 in there you will see I was right! Deer in the headlights cashier: Gazes into the bright lights blankly. I ordered the fish and chip dinner for $ 10. I notice the price has gone up since my last visit and they are throwing on a bunch of side dishes I didn’t care for. About 10 minutes later my order comes out and it’s just fish and chips. I would feel ripped off and complain but I didn’t want the side dishes anyways. Next time I may get the kid’s size as I noticed my friend’s kid’s meal had the same amount of fries and not that much less fish for $ 6. The fried cod had a thin crunchy batter which tasted great and complimented the mild cod flavor. The cod was excellent quality. Tender and juicy. This is one of my fav places to get fried cod. The fries were fine. Standard fast food type fries. Hot, crunchy outside, soft fluffy inside. This is an outdoor establishment with fast food type seating. There is a good view of the bay and the sunset. Also you never know what you are gonna see here. I’m giving the food 4 stars, the service 3 stars, and the people watching priceless!
