The absolute worst thing about this company is the only time they contact you is 15 minutes before they arrive. There is no email or phone call for confirmation of date and time of delivery. So you are just hoping that they get there on the day you booked it; I booked a month in advance so I was unsure the exact dates I chose. My lease at my old apartment ended a week before my lease started at my new apartments so I had to store my stuff for a week. I stayed relatively close to each location for BOTH deliveries and 15 minutes is not enough time to get anywhere. They give you a 3 hour time window of when they will come and who knows when they will show up. Right away or at the end of the 3 hours and yet still only give you a 15 minutes. So make sure you are sitting there twiddling your thumbs for all three hours waiting on their call.
Oh yeah and Liars!!! They say only one charge of $ 99 for delivery and then they make sure they charge you the second time. Their trucks also say free delivery on them and no that is a lie, total it will be $ 200 for delivery.
The only good thing was the delivery guy was very professional and nice. I almost feel bad because he probably thought my frustration was his fault. But doing business with these people definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I will not be back.

I just closed out my account with BBS and it was a fantastic experience. Three years ago, I was in need of their storage services on somewhat short term notice. The process was quick and easy. I have always had access to my belongings and that made my transition to my new home effortless. The folks who work there were always cheerful, kind and accommodating. A month ago, I realized that I no longer needed what remained in the spacious container and they provided me with a local thrift store who made arrangements for pick up of the donated items and I didn’t even have to be there. The closeout process took all of nine minutes on the phone (and yeah, I time these things). Thanks Big Box! I’ll definitely use you in the future as the needs arise!

They were very easy to coordinate with. We stored our belongings in two big boxes for about 5 months while we left the area and traveled. When we came home, they dropped it off on time and though I was greatly concerned about where to place them in our new congested apartment complex, Dan expertly placed them in the perfect position in our assigned apartment spot saving the day! Very nice solution to storage units. So handy to be able to load it at our leisure in our old driveway and then unload it and they come and pick it up when you’re done. Beats trip (s) to storage facilities any day of the week! Our belongings were stored in a nice climate controlled warehouse and not a thing was broken when we unpacked after the 5 months. Highly recommend!

They were great, I had to change my reservation a couple times and they worked well with me. The driver Desmond was the best. Not only was he perfectly on time but dealt with busy street a found a perfect spot for my box to go.

I’ve had my Big Box for almost a year now and the staff is very friendly (Lanesha) everytime I stop in to access my box. I have a lot of friends and family that happen to be in the military and recommend them for their storage and moving needs. The price is very good and not pricey at all like regular storage places I’ve gone to before. I also feel like my stuff is safer here since they had to bring my box out to me and no random people are walking around the warehouse. When you access your box you do need to call ahead 2 hours which is fine by me I usually call then get breakfast or lunch and head over after.

Never have I had such a terrible experience with a business before. These people are rude and unprofessional. I was lied to, purposefully removed from the delivery schedule because I had previously complained about their driver picking up my box WHILE I WAS STILL LOADING IT, laughed at/​mocked by their office staff, charged for a lock that I was never given, and the list goes on. This experience was one of the worst experiences of my life.

My experience with Big Box:
The employee who came to deliver the box was super friendly. It made me confident in my choice in selecting this business for most of my things. I was really looking forward to it.
The staff at the actual office though were never quite helpful though, at all. Everytime I’ve contacted these people, whether by phone or by email, I always seem to get treated as some sort of insufferable nuissance to them. Can you leave the attitude at home or anywhere else please?
I don’t like contacting places that treat customers like some sort of burden. Whatever may be common knowledge to you as a staff member; please understand that your client’s might not actually know all the in’s-and-out’s of how to submit payment, or «how can I retrieve my things»…

I have used Big Box Storage 4 times since 2012. I cannot express how amazing this company is. They have been SO helpful, gracious and accommodating. This review is long overdue but was prompted by my most recent interaction with Big Box. I was storing my household which I estimated to be 5 pods… apparently I had acquired more than I thought because I filled 9 PODS! After having things in storage for a few months I found out I’d be storing for another 6 months. I called BBS to arrange redelivery of the pods to a new storage facility. The savings would be considerable moving to a traditional storage facility. I was politely offered a LOWER price than a the storage facility! This saved me an incredible amount of hassle, moving costs and stress. I couldn’t be happier with the service received. Don’t consider anything but Big Box!

I’ve been with Big Box San Diego since 2007. It’s an easier way of life. I’ve moved, made changes in my life and they’ve helped me to do it all on my own. Holidays are easier, keepsakes and seasonal are organized. Special thanks to Dan and all the great staff!

To be fair the original delivery and pickup was not bad. The guy on the phone was nice. Then I come back into town and need to get into storage. An emergency comes up And when I called to reschedule access the lady on the phone said there is a $ 15 charge. I said they should consider telling customers this when they make the appointment not when they just call to reschedule. She asked if did not know I may not make it… Some times things happen and people have to cancel. I will NOT be using this storage unit again. Will be moving all my things next vacation. Not just because of customer service but it’s inconvenient to access during specific times and have to make a 2 hours notice appointment and apparently access cancellation fee as well. Not worth it.

This is the 2^nd time I’ve used this company and I was thoroughly disappointed this time around.
Last time I used them, I went on deployment & they were great. Everything was great & there were no complications. This time was a whole other story.
I called to set up a delivery a full month in advance. Due to my HOA situation, the boxes could not stay at the house overnight & I confirmed this would be ok before setting up the appt. The lady I spoke to assured me that would not be a problem, for the driver to switch out the boxes as they were filled and take them all away at once. A week later I called and added boxes, asking for 4 to be brought and reconfirmed all the details.
When the driver came he asked where to set everything up and I said great, we’ll pack them as fast as possible so you can be on your way, and he looked at me like a deer in the headlights & he had no idea what I was talking about. He said no he can’t wait and instead of offering to call his office, he was going to take them all back and not leave any. So I told him, ok do you want to call your boss or should I? I couldn’t believe that he wasn’t going to try to remedy the situation at all. When I talked to his dispatcher, the guy was very apologetic for the confusion and said he would rearrange the schedule to have the driver leave 2, come back to switch them out and then pick the last 2 up before the end of the day. I thought that was fair enough being that I was on a time schedule and everything had to be gone that day. By the time the driver unloaded 2 boxes and figured out how to fill out his paperwork, the 2 boxes were 99% full and he said no, he wouldn’t wait any longer, and he left. I called the office again and complained. After waiting all day for the last driver to take the last load away, I was pretty much over the whole situation. The guy in the office I kept calling, credited me 1 box for 1 month. I guess that was his way of fixing all of the inconveniences they had caused that day.
When I called back 6 months later to set up the delivery of my boxes to my new residence, I was informed there is a $ 99 delivery fee. After all that, they are still charging me $ 99 to bring my stuff back to me? I asked to get it waived and Paul said he’d have the manger call me back because he was out to lunch right now. I called back a few days later and the girl I talked to said no, they will not waive the delivery fee for anyone. And basically said the manager would call me back but she’ll tell me the same thing and that the $ 56 credit at the beginning was ALL they’re willing to do and if I wanted, I could go unload everything myself at their facility. I let her know that that was bad business and I will NOT refer their company to anyone I know, and in fact I’ll pass this story on to as many people as I can. After 6 months w/​4 boxes, $ 99 is really going to kill your company? That says a lot.
The delivery was 20 mins before the end of my 4 hour window. The driver didn’t seem great, he repeatedly blocked traffic on a busy street and showed no signs of urgency to complete the job at all. I was frustrated just watching him. I made sure to call back and get the boxes picked up as soon as possible so I didn’t have to look at them anymore.
Again, I would not recommend this place to anyone I know. Spend the little extra money for the larger boxes and better service. Sometimes cheaper is not the best way to go. Especially in an already stressful situation.

I received a call regarding my recent account issues.
Honestly, I wasn’t looking for a refund by posting this review, but one has been issued to my account. I spoke to Brian and I think I might have talked to him before about my account. He is a fair & understanding manager. He appreciates the feedback and wants to keep as much business as possible. A bad review is not what he wants to see, at all. He understands that keeping the customer satisfied is the goal and if nothing else, he’ll explain the situation & why things worked out the way it did. After talking to him & explaining the whole experience, I did tell him that I’d refer HIM to friends who are looking for storage alternatives. A refund is a nice gesture and I’ll probably call back to get another quote if I need to move again. If you need to set a delivery up, call and ask for Brian, he’ll make sure things happen and go smoothly.

Used them for a cross country move to N Carolina. Everything went perfect! Best pricing of all movers we researched. Staff, especially Morgan, made everything so easy. They’re efficient, friendly, accommodating and very helpful. Check them out first when consider a long distance move. They are the best.

Just had two Big Boxes delivered by Charlie. He said he’s only been on the job two weeks, but it seemed to me like he was an old pro! That forklift is amazing! I was worried that Charlie wouldn’t be able to place the boxes where I wanted them, but handled it with ease! Great job!

This was the BEST and EASIEST way to store my things. Brian who helped set up my drop off and pick up dates was most helpful. Suggested they drop off two boxes just in case. Smart idea because I didn’t feel worried about «will it all fit.» Then Brian the Big Box delivery guy was so nice and very quick in getting the boxes placed and paperwork to me! Both guys were very nice and professional! I like that I can go add or take things out of my storage box no problem. Much cheaper then renting a storage unit, for which some of my friends are paying much more then I am I so will recommend Big Box to my friends! When I’m ready to move and need my things all I have to do is call for delivery! No renting a truck to empty a storage unit! I only ended up using one box so the other is picked up no charge since I didn’t need it!! Thanks Big Box you are awesome!

Very responsive and accommodating.

I used to love big box. Lately I seem to getting charged for everything. My box was delivered late (that s with $ 100 fee!) so I didn’t have the first day to work on clearing it and when it was delivered I couldn’t get the lock off cause the box was set down crooked which made the box lopsided making it impossible to unlock it. So I asked for another few days and they said I could keep a few more days for a fifty dollar fee. I told them about the late drop off and the lob sided box and they said it wasn’t they’re problem since i wasn’t there when the box was dropped off. They were supposed to arrive between 11:00 — 2:00 which I was there but I had to leave for a doctors appt at 3:30 and couldn’t stay any longer.
I’ll be taking my business elsewhere but I will miss the guys they always dealt very well with the customers and u could tell customer service was their #1 priority. «Good job guys!»
Unlike the other two females that seem always be grumpy that’s one thing I won’t miss.

I write this review years after I used them, but recently, I was reminded of these guys since my colleague is in a situation where his apartment is being sold and he’s being forced to move out. In our industry, we must travel A LOT. for months at a time (and the military folk who’s looking into this can also attest to this). He will be gone by the time he needs to move out. He’s just completely stoked that such a service exists.
I used these guys’ service when I had to be gone, and was between moves (the lease agreement was ending, and I had to move out, and my current place was in escrow, and I was going to be in the middle of the ocean).
I recall seeing these guys’ boxes all over SD, and called them up. A quick phone call later by a chill, funny, yet very informative representative, and all was set! They’ll drop off the empty boxes, pick it up at a set time, store the boxes for you, and drop off the boxes at your next location; then pick up the empty boxes on your schedule. It all just. works so seamlessly.
The prices are reasonable, and their service is supremely convenient. I’m so glad they existed when I needed them. They have good people working there. All are very helpful (from the call rep, to the drivers). I wish these guys good business for years to come, as they are a great local company to support.

Big Box is a great company to deal with. All their staffs are great, efficient and on time. I have been dealing with Morgan who is wonderful.

This is my 2^nd time contracting Big Box SD. They have always been professional and on time.
These guys know what they are doing! All the staff are great, from those in office to arrange the storage to the guys on the ground dropping off and picking up the boxes. So pro, they way they work flowed like synchronized swimmers!
Prices are reasonable too. The convenience of having storage boxes dropped off at your house is a great ease.
My things were kept safe throughout the time I had my things stored with them.
Highly recommended!!!
