I have dined here many times; it is far past time to write a stellar review. This is a great date place or to entertain clients or even to take yourself out on a date. The people are all so warm, you won’t feel solo. From the hostess, to the bartender, to the multitude of fine servers, this place makes you fall in love with our fair city all over again. The ambiance is rustic romance. Wood floors and seats are illuminated by white candles, elegantly dripping with wax. Pillows decorate the window seats and there is also outdoor seating. The wine list is great and they definitely know how to muddle a cocktail of dreams. And last but definitely not least, let us not forget the chef… They have a wonderful list of mussels, alas I am allergic, so onto my favorite… the calamari. Nope, not fried folks, these tender tubes and tentacles are cooked to perfection(no rubber here) with capers and beans in a warm, pesto-esque tapenade. Surely the chef will someday be held captive to an effort to obtain his recipe. Every sauce here is delightfully unique, from the fresh fish specials to the crab croquettes. And for me the big test– great dessert. They do not disappoint. The bread pudding, crème brulee and gingerbread are all winners. I’m sure there are others, but I’ve got to set some limits. This spot always impresses. Thank you!

If only there were more places like this! Totally lovely. Charming, classy, romantic. Very civilized environment. Cozy and perfect for a date or to come with family. The atmosphere is wonderful, particularly in the evening, and the staff are very nice. The food is so good, we had delicious steaks and a very tasty charcuterie plate. Great for meat/wine lovers, and for those who like good cooking, and rich flavors. I cannot wait to go back.

This place was incredible. Our server Socorro(I’m sure I spelled that wrong) was so prompt and sweet. The atmosphere was flawless. Super romantic without being cliché. Very comfortable seating and wonderful music. We all shared the poutine and moules frites, which were delicious. We tried almost all of the entrees. Our favorite was a three way tie between the croque garçon, the duck, and the boeuf.

I think we may have ordered the wrong food, but as someone who cares more about taste than atmosphere, I was very disappointed. Pros: Service was excellent Atmosphere was great Drinks were yummy One of the 6 dishes(the duck) we ordered was delicious. Cons: One of the 6 dishes(the duck) we ordered was delicious. For the price point, I expect the food to be better. I’ve heard that this place is not consistent in their execution, and since I live nearby, I might give it another chance. However, I will not consider ordering the pâté, lobster bisque or any fish dish(over cooked) from here again.

My favorite spot in all of San Diego for so many reasons. Martinis, on point with delicious blue cheese olives. Cheese plate Wine selection is service is impeccable. The mussels Rochefort are the best mussels I’ve ever had, so much so I’ve taken the broth home for soup the next day. The chef is so nice and comes to visit every time we’re in there. Not to mention the restaurant is beautiful

Went for the first time during restaurant week on Saturday night. The place was buzzing with energy but didn’t feel too packed or busy. Our meal started off great but after our main course came out we had a hard time getting any attention from our server which was sort of a buzz kill. We had the beef and the pork ribeye, both very tasty and well cooked. Would have been a five star experience except for the service.

Interesting mix of casual(but tasteful) atmosphere and upscale food. Parking can be difficult, but you’ll find it, with a little patience. My husband took me here for Mothers’ Day brunch — they only serve brunch on special occasions now. ;-(They had a special, pre fixe, menu, with some great options. We had exceptional cocktails(beautifully-presented Bloody Mary and Gin & Tonic), and they didn’t skimp on the alcohol. As a «starter», I had the Lobster Bisque, which was okay, but not great — missing something. We also shared the Pâté platter, and both pates(duck and another that I don’t remember the name of) were delicious, as was the bread served with it. I love good breads and this qualified! Our entrees were Salmon and Eggs Benedict — both expertly cooked and seasoned. And then the desserts — Chocolate Mousse and Bread Pudding. To Live For! Soooo good! Chelsea, our server was sweet, just-the-right-amount attentive, and helpful on choices. Kudos to my husband for this great find! The regular dinner menu is on the pricey side for what you get, but they also have a «Bohemian Menu», which is pre fixe, and $ 30 pp — very popular and reasonably-priced. Can’t wait to come back and try it!

Came here during restaurant week. We made reservations beforehand and were seated immediately. The aesthetics are somehow reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast for me, maybe it’s the wax candles. The menu had great selections. I had the pork ribeye steak, which had good texture but was a little too salty for my taste. The goat cheese cheesecake was amazing(once the staff remembered that we were still missing our desserts after a previous mix-up). The only flaw was that I had trouble breathing… I think the wax candles triggered some sensitivities.

The décor here is different and the candle holders have layers of wax from previous candles. We ordered from the«Bohemian» menu. You pick an appetizer, entrée & dessert for $ 30, which is a great deal. For appetizers we had onion soup, lobster bisque & escargot. The escargot was a little overdone. I liked the onion soup, but felt that the cheese could be more toasted & with less bread For entrees we got the duck confit, steak frites & beef bourguignon. They were all good and I definitely recommend the duck. The beef bourguignon is different than others I’ve had. It’s less creamy with more red wine and doesn’t have potatoes & carrots. We tried almost all of the desserts and I liked the cream puff the best. The gingerbread is good if you like cinnamon. The one thing I didn’t understand was why they gave me a birthday dessert & then charged me for it…

Ambience is intimate, perfect for a date night. Food was delicious! Get the caramelized onion tart and fromage plate. The duck confit, Duroc pork and beef Bourgogne were all excellent. And for dessert, the the chocolate mousse and flourless chocolate cake were perfect finishers. Even though the hours are short, we were able to stay and hang out. No rush to leave. Really great restaurant to try when you’re in the mood for French food.

3.5 Not bad. Not amazing. Excellent service(sweet, personable, attractive). Ambience is lovely, especially indoors after dark. The candles and the music are absolutely perfect. Happy hour makes some of their offerings much more reasonable. Regular prices are a bit excessive. Food: average. Mussels not fabulous even though they sound so. Watery, flavorless. Same with some small plates. Calamari(sautéed) rubbery. Not ideal menu for celiac or gluten free folk, but a few options. Outdoor seating is comfy and classy, yet casual. Didn’t notice heaters, though. Inside is a bit elegant, yet noisy at times. Desserts are very good, and about 10 bucks a pop. ¼(quartino) of vino averages $ 12. Go during happy hour 4 – 6. No wifi.

I had smoked beef short-ribs. The sauce was delicious and the flavor of the meat superb. Maybe a bit fatty. I also had risotto barley, which was excellent. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her duck confit and thought it was spectacular with the potatoes au gratin. Crème Brulee was a yummy end to the meal. Nice atmosphere, though the service was rather slow. Wine list was mostly exorbitantly priced.

The food here is incredible. I let the fantastic bartender GG order for my boy friend and I. We had crab cakes, and a scallop entrée. Finsihed with cream puffs and chocolate molten cake. It’s a beautiful restrant with food and service that are the example for what a dining out experience should be.

Everything about Bleu Boheme screams class! Loved my experience here. The place had a great vibe to it. The tables were candle-lit, but the restaurant itself wasn’t too dark. The lighting was perfect as was our waitress. She was lovely & attentive. They had a regular menu & a «Bohemian» menu(3 course menu). I knew I was going to get dessert so I opted for that menu for ~$ 30(some items are marked with an additional fee). Chose the«Salade Maison”– Well presented salad, not as tasty. It did come w/a few slices of apples which was a nice touch. For my main course, I chose the«Confit de Canard»(+$ 3.95), which was duck leg with veggies & mashed potatoes. Best duck I’ve had, hands down. I guess there’s not much to compare it to, but it was cooked well & not at all salty. I wanted more of it! The portions were great for an average person, but I can eat more than your average, so it didn’t really fill me up. Still a great meal! I got a chance to also taste one of their specials, which was filet mignon topped with pieces of lobster doused with béarnaise suace on top of mashed potatoes & veggies [$ 35]. Yums! The steak was cooked perfectly(medium) & the sauce complimented the steak & lobster really well. Loved it! For dessert, we got the dark chocolate mousse w/fresh berries. Delectable dish. It’s a must try. Also had the«Profiteroles» which is a cream puff that I liked just as much as the first dessert. Only thing was, they took a while getting us water(maybe cause we ordered wine?) but once we asked for it again, it came right away. Bleu Boheme pretty much nailed everything, though. I can’t really comment on what they should change cause it should stay exactly the same! Will be back soon!

Cute and romantic restaurant. We enjoyed our dinner by candlelight. It’s a small location with some square tables and some round tables. The round tables were too small. We didn’t have enough room to eat and I felt like I was going to accidentally knock something down. Parking is a little bit tight. We parked in a residential area and walked to the restaurant. For appetizers we ordered a meat and cheese board and a Caprese type salad with pistachios and pesto sauce. The meat and cheese board had five types of meat, five types of cheese, some veggies and three dipping sauces – honey, blueberry, and spicy mustard. I enjoyed the variety. It was all very tasty. The caprese salad was one of the best caprese salads I’ve ever had. It had your tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil leaves, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing, but it also had pistachios and pesto which made it stand out. I absolutely loved this dish. For our main entrées, we ordered the steak frites and sea scallops. The steak frites came with arugula salad and garlic truffle fries. The steak had what looked and tasted like mozzarella cheese and butter mixed together. It was good but I prefer steaks that have enough flavor where it does not require any type of sauce or dressing. The steak was also a little bit tough. I’m not a big fan of skinny fries. I prefer the regular size fries. The sea scallops came with some type of spicy sausage and in a cream sauce. There was something in that dish that was too salty, but the sea scallops were good. I also ordered a berry martini to drink. It had a strong alcohol taste but you can also taste the berry flavor. They also gave me a free chocolate mousse for my birthday, which was very sweet and thoughtful. The mousse was good and creamy. It wasn’t too sweet. It also came with strawberries and a wafer on top. Service was great. They always refilled our water without us having to ask. The chef also came out to talk to us and ask how our experience was. My bf says he likes this place because it’s fancy without the fancy attitude. :)

We had reservations for a group of 6 on Restaurant Week. This was the first time any of us had dined here, and definitely won’t be the last. Everybody in our group really enjoyed their dishes, even those that were vegan — they offered vegan fare on their prix fixed Restaurant Week menu within each category so that was a plus for our group. The French onion soup had a sweet caramelized taste to it, different and delicious. My wife had the salmon goat cheese crêpe appetizer — she loved it and says she’d go back just for it. The service was great, despite the hustle and bustle of Restaurant Week nights. Our waitress was attentive, except when she forgot my buddy’s whiskey refill. Only fail of the night, so that’s a plus. Minus a star though because we initially made reservations two weeks before and were told by the manager that they could only accommodate our big group at 8:30pm. Though later than our normal dinner time, I went ahead and secured the date & time and figured we were good to go. When I called 5 days before just to confirm, I was told they didn’t have reservations under our name nor would they have even made such for a large group since they were a small restaurant and it was Restaurant Week. Luckily, I called. And luckily, they accommodated us. Despite that little glitch, we’ll be returning again.

My visits to Bleu Boheme are usually at the bar. That beautiful dark atmosphere with waxy white candles lit throughout. It is one of the most cozy places to drink wine and catch up with friends. BB offers a pleasant social hour menu with several food and drink specials. I always dive into one of the many moules frites selections. I especially like the option for ¼ liter or ½ liter carafes of vino as well. Their full dinner menu is lovely, too, when I actually save room to get there!

My wife and I just dined here to celebrate her birthday and the meal was exactly what we were hoping it would be. This place is worth every one of five stars, and I do not give out stars capriciously. This place it legit. We both ordered the Bohemian Menu which included a choice of appetizer, main, and dessert for $ 30. Seriously, a bargain at twice the price. This is French cooking at its finest. Just go. You’ll be glad you did.

Nice ambiance, good food and friendly service overall, not-ridiculous prices for French fare, private parking lot in a busy neighborhood — it’s a pretty well-rounded restaurant to say the least. My friend and I were just here for San Diego Restaurant Week and had a great time. This review was based entirely on our SDRW dinner so it might not be representative of the actual normal operations of the restaurant. However, because the menu was pretty extensive, and we ordered a variety of dishes, it was still a good opportunity to sample the chef’s food. The food were enjoyable but honestly was nothing spectacular; it gave me a feeling of having dinner at the warm home of a friend who is a great cook. We had the mussels cooked in garlic cream, shallots and white wine, the escargot, King salmon, Duroc pork, chocolate mousse and three cheese cake. We devoured the appetizers and the main courses. They were good, but I think it would not be hard to duplicate. Their three cheese cake uses goat cheese so it’s on the strong, pungent side which is not for our preference. The chocolate mousse tastes like a rich chocolate mousse, no surprises there. The hostess was really sweet. Our server was friendly but somehow came off as a bit insincere, but whatever, she took our orders and attended to our needs. I just wish the water refill was more frequent. Several times we had to flag her down for more. Also she seemed a bit irritated that we did not order any drinks. I understand restaurants profit the most out of beverages, but they also have to respect customers not wanting anything other than water sometimes. The décor was rustic, warm and fun. We really enjoyed the candle with all the melted wax. The chairs were hard so they weren’t that comfortable, so probably not a good place to have a long chat with your old friend unless you have a very cushiony butt… Overall it was a great night. I’m curious how other dishes taste like, and given that the prices are still $$ and the food is decent, I’ll probably be back!

Went for Restaurant Week but honestly if you’re looking for FRENCHFOODAVOIDTHISPLACE. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that actually serves French cuisine. I should have known better when I saw that this was part of Irvine Hospitality Group. * Went with the escargots and they were not in their shells. When I ate one, the shell was still on it. My husband ate a few and could taste sediment still. Wherever they’re getting their snails is not purging them correctly. * Raviolis Maison. You anticipate that when you see RAVIOLI, you’re gonna get pasta right? WRONG. ITISANEGGWONTONWRAPPER. WHYISMYRAVIOLIMADEWITH A WONTONWRAPPER. I’m staring at the menu right now and the description does not mention this ATALL. It tasted so bland and me dousing salt on it did not help. * Pain d’Epice — Alright but the bread was burnt. I haven’t written a review in ages and felt the need to do it for this place. AVOID. DONOTEATHERE. THEYARETRICKINGYOU. Just because the exterior looks fancy doesn’t mean it translates in the food.

This place is now one of my top restaurants that I have dined at in a while. It was packed at 7pm when we arrived for dinner indicating early on, that it was a prime choice. The ambiance was great and we were more than impressed with our waiter and the food. We started off with the Gnocchi a la Parisienne which were out of this world. The smoked duck bacon made this appetizer. For the main, I had the Tartine de Steak Hache and the wife had the Boeuf Bourguignon. They were both amazing. The flavor pairings and the aesthetics of the dish made the dinner just right. Paired with a few of their cocktails and the evening was perfect. If you are in San Diego and looking for something a little less mainstream, come check this place out.

12.11.15 First place we went to after we landed in San Diego. Give me my French bistro food, stat! We started with a very reasonably priced bottle of cab. Quite the deal at $ 32. I was also a fan of the table-side candles to set the mood(although dangerous if there were children present). The french onion soup had a thick layer of cheese, which blended well with the layers of onions underneath. It was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the rest of the party seemed to enjoy it. The lobster crêpe caught my eye, and did not disappoint. It was light yet flavorful, and sat on top of a criss cross of asparagus. Like. There was a really big(and noticeable) gap between the soup course and the entrees. Thankfully we had great company to make the time fly. Total damage for four: $ 220

Came here for restaurant week. Everything we tried was so good! Definitely worth it. I am dreaming about that steak still. Every single bite was perfectly cooked. Apps: Beef Tartar & Gnocchi Entrée: Steak & Salmon Dessert: Cheesecake and Bread Pudding Also got their Vietnamese Ginger Champagne. 100% would eat every single dish again. Also the sauce with the salmon was to die for!

Torn between a 3 or 4 stars, maybe more of a 3.5 closer to 4… I came here last year for their regular menu, this time I came for their RW menu and I was pretty disappointed in the entrée. I got the mussels, which were good, my BF got the charcuterie board and he was disappointed because it didn’t come with cheese, which I was fine with. The portion size was more catered to RW, it wasn’t the full board. He got the pork chop and I got the beef bourguignon. My beef bourguignon was very tarty, my BF said its because they didn’t cook off the wine. It was verrrry tarty and the beef wasn’t the best. I didn’t enjoy it because it was like eating sour beef. The pork chop was good. Dessert… I had bread pudding with mango and he got chocolate mousse. The mango pudding by itself wasn’t flavorful, it did however go well with the chocolate mousse though.
