I have bought all sorts of books from this store for 17 years. I have no complaints of the service, or staff. I order from them when I need something in a hurry — it comes and the price is reasonable IMHO. When I don’t need anything else in a hurry I order and it comes in time also. The person taking the orders is very personable, friendly and easy to work with. She has a lot of knowledge about the book industry and which editions are new or due out and anything else like which addition has additional materials. They still provide scientific and computer science books if you ask — I do and am very happy. Moneywise I still think they are good value — Online book stores have shipping costs too and if you get the wrong book — you end up spending more — I have not have that experience with them in 17+ years The owners do their utmost to accommodate and help the customer — I remember them calling Mission Valley Border or Barnes and Noble book stores at their cost to ask if they had a book in that store for a customer standing in the owners store who needs one now. You don’t see selfless customer service like that — they make nothing on that. As human beings we all need to learn something about self-less customer service from these folk. I hope to see them and buying from them for the next 17 years if I live that long also.

Nice selection of books. I usually go here when i don’t feel like waiting for a delivery from Amazon. I would have gave it a 4 or 5 star rating if the HOURSOFOPERATIONDIDNOTSUCKSOMUCH. For example, as a software support engineer, I was really looking forward to going there on Saturday to browse for a few hours, but ran into this sign. «EARLYCLOSING We are closing early at 5 pm Friday, May 28 for the Memorial Day weekend and will reopen with our normal hours on Tuesday, June 1.» It’s been that way with them since the 90s. It’s too bad. Us engineering types tend to have OCD and hate to defer gratification by waiting for Amazon to deliver — a place like this could really rake in more $$. I guess the owner has a life and likes to take time off. I do admit, It’s probably unfair of me to complain about the hours — It’s a small, privately owned business and don’t have the resources of a WalMart. .

They use to be San Diego Technical Books. They have a good selection of construction and building related materials. HVAC, Plumbing, Code Books, License preparation books, green construction, etc. Gone is the large collection of communications, software, and computer books. Prices are on the high side. The owner has a dog in the store. It is very large, but friendly.

Cool store. Used to be in the location BookOff is now. There’s only one problem… With the hours they keep, HOWISANYENGINEEREVERSUPPOSEDTOSHOPHERE?! Those few times I have managed to make it in, I have been impressed with the selection and deterred by the prices. Amazon seems to be a way better deal. But if you need it now, you need it now, and they may have it in stock.
