I give Bubs(5STARS) mainly for the Steakums and the fantastic servers. My wife gives Bubs(5STARS) for the chicken tenders. I honestly haven’t had anything else because they are so good.

Bubs is the #1 spot I want to go to before watching a ball game! There’s no crazy cool happy hour or cheap prices. But there is great bar food and a great drink/draft selection. The bar is a search yourself place so if you get there during peak hours you will most likely have to hunt down a seat. The vibe in the place is pretty dive but still great. You can’t come in and not eat here, the wings and tots are a must! My personal favorite are the garbage wings which are all of their wing flavors mixed into one. The Nacho Tots, buffalo tots, and artichoke Tots are great as well. The staff is pretty friendly for the most part as long as you’re cool of course. This location is much better than the one in PB. PB is smaller, more dive, and full of a bunch of PB college kids.

Been here twice for the wings that everyone rants and raves about. Not my favorite wing joint, but I’d pull up if my friends were gathering and I got an invite.

Such a fun sports bar in the Gaslamp district. Food was good and there kitchen is open late night. The wings were awesome, so many sauces to choose from, loved the Caribbean Jerk. The Wrap was nice and big. Great selection of beers on Tap. Good job guys! Lots of good looking people in this establishment, a must go after a Padres game or when partying around Gaslamp!

Need a fun and exciting sports bar near Petco Field? Look no further than Bub’s at the Ballpark. Bub’s is a quintessential Gaslamp District sports bar. Television screens can be found within any line of sight, the menu is gargantuan and centers around the drinking culture, plus everyone(including the staff) seems to have a genuine good time from early afternoon into the wee hours of the night. The Beer list is commendable and offers craft varieties for the initiated and the associated costs are not out of line with the locale — the average drink will set you back roughly $ 8.00. The Padre’s were away the weekend I went to San Diego so my party crept into Bub’s for a round and an order of their«World Famous» Wings(by World Famous they mean«rather popular in San Diego County»). The wings arrived at the table within 10 minutes piping hot. Upon first bite I realized we had a problem: The heat level of their Buffalo Style Wings was off the scales. I can tolerate a decent to incredible amount of heat but these Wings were hot to the point of inedibility. Perhaps the cook was having a bad day, maybe they mixed my order up with another patron that asked for a plateful of searing stomachache — whatever the case — the spiciness if these Wings rendered them a one and done affair. It is a damn shame too; they nailed the temperature, mouthfeel and moisture level down pat. Sadly, the most anyone in my party was able to get down was two before throwing in the towel. The B-Lo Wings disappointment was not nearly enough to bring down our spirits so I would have no qualms returning to Bub’s for another round and the chance to get the star count to 4 for this Gas Lamp District staple.

Came here after a Padres game, where we found out that they don’t have any deals during game day. Which sucks, but it is what it is. I had ordered Jameson on the rocks, and it was about 3 ounces… For $ 10. Which was whatever. Probably cheaper than most places in downtown anyways. My friend and I ordered chicken tenders,(which came with crinkled fries), and sweet potato tots. I thought the sweet potato tots were a little sweet at first, but they definitely grew on me. The chicken tenders were lightly breaded, and it’s not a thick piece of chicken either. The crinkled fries were a little too soft and soggy. I had ordered another Jameson on the rocks, and this one came out way bigger than the first one… Which was so weird. It was actually bigger in ounces than the previous order.

Stopped in here for lunch with my mom before the Padres game today. Solid spot for pre-gaming, for sure. The menu is above average bar food and fairly priced. We got a Woody Burger with onion rings and a grilled cheese with tots to kind of share half of each plate. The food came out super fast and was tasty. The beer menu is decently extensive, but I’d love to see more porters/stouts on the menu. I did have an amber ale that was pretty darned tasty though. The girls behind the bar were friendly, attentive and fast. For a busy game day, I was impressed with service. I’ll definitely be bringing in the hubs for some pre-gaming this summer!

I’ve patronized this establishment for YEARS and tonight I was treated with the utmost disrespect. I will NEVER return due to the fact the employees refused me service based on my ethnicity and physical handicap. I’m permanently disabled and was told I was«too wobbly» to enter. I worked a full day, walked to the game as well as up and down the stairs with a meniscal tear so bad that all the cartilage in my knee had to be removed so sorry, if me shifting my weight caused me to look«wobbly». Yet the big titted blonde slurring her words in front of me was«sober». Never again. Bubs is a racist discriminatory POS establishment. If you support this place, you support mistreatment of people who deserve better. *mic drop*

We had dinner at Bub’s before heading out to go drinking on a Saturday night and it was a solid place at which to kick things off right. Décor: It’s a pretty standard sports bar with lots of TVs, an assortment of tables, neon lighting and a pretty open layout. We set up at a highboy table for all(eight) of us and had more than enough room after pushing two tables together. The music is kept at a decent volume but you’ll still need to speak up a bit while chatting with your friends. Bathroom: Again, pretty standard for a sports bar. Staff: Our waitress was very nice. She was quite busy with the handful of tables she had, and at times it was somewhat difficult to get her attention if you needed something, but once you ordered she returned quickly and didn’t miss anything. Food/Drinks: We had beers, of course, and food. The beer/booze selection is standard for a full bar and the menu, while being rather extensive, has all the usual suspects. That isn’t to say that there are not a few«Bub’s only» specialties but you know what you’re getting into here. I had the wings(buffalo style) and they were very meaty and sizable! They say they are grilled but I beg to differ… maybe they just didn’t leave them on long enough to crisp them up but I am very sure they’re just baked. Either way, they were very enjoyable and filling. My friend also got the Caulifornia Wings which is cauliflower prepared to resemble chicken wings — and it was very tasty! I’d certainly recommend it! And how can I forget the tots! These things are delicious too! Value: The prices are not crazy here so you can expect to pay about what you would at any other sports bar. The wings really hit the spot and set up as a great base for a night of drinks. I’d recommend Bub’s(already have!) and would come back in the future.

«The Different Style of Chicken Wings is Worth the Visit« Bub’s at the Ballpark is within walking distance to Petco Park(duh, hence their name) and it gets real packed it gets during an actual game! At the time we went, there was a guy at the door to check ID and then we were left to finding our own table since it was open seating. Bub’s probably has some of the BESTWINGS I have ever had that were not deep fried! They have so many flavors to choose from too and everything is decently priced for the huge portions they give you. They also have an very large drink menu with a bunch of different mules! If I lived in downtown San Diego, this would be one of my regular places I would go too… and they have a bunch of games like Jenga and Connect Four to entertain you, making this place a fun place to go before a Padre game. I want to start by saying that I have been to this Bubs hundreds of times, even on busy days during Padres, Chargers or NBA games and have always had a fantastic experience. Today was soooo disappointing that I literally do not think I will ever go back. Joanne(or Joanna– I wouldn’t know because she didn’t introduce herself) was my server today and she was literally the biggest brat, I can’t believe she’s a server! I ordered«tortilla soup to start», and asked specifically that it be brought out first. My uncle then ordered a turkey burger, my boyfriend ordered the steak-ums(which we always order) and I got the cilantro bbq chicken wrap. Not only did my soup not come out to start but it actually came out AFTER everything else that we had ordered. I was in the middle of a sentence telling our server that I no longer wanted the soup because I wanted it as an appetizer when she rolled her eyes at me and walked away– leaving the soup on our table and still charging us for it, even though I never touched it My boyfriends steak-ums usually come on a bed of veggies but for some reason today they came out plain and just on a skillet. We waited a while, hoping to tell the server, but she never came back to check on how we were doing. My uncle was happy with his turkey burger. My wrap came out with a side of ranch, which the server spilled all over my meal when putting it down on the table. She didn’t mention it and I didn’t eat it– a soggy ranch drenched wrap defeats the purpose of ordering a healthy wrap to begin with. She also never returned to refill our waters and the only time we saw her again was when she dropped our $ 60+ check. As a waitress for over 10 years myself I can say that the service is equally if not more important than the product, and today was the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. Yesterday I would have recommended bubs to anyone looking for a cool place to go in east village, today I would tell them to save their money and check out the new Social Tap down the street.

We stopped at this place before the Padres game and there were very few people in the place but by an hour before the game this place kept filling up with people and when we walked by after the game this place was in full force and packed with people. We only had drinks but the staff was friendly and the place had a fun atmosphere. The sides of the bar go up so you can sit outside but even if you sit inside you can feel like you’re outside with the set up.

This place is seriously awesome. Went here for the first time yesterday for wing Wednesday and I will be back every Wednesday if I can! A lot of places offer .50 wings on a certain day, but a lot of those places are offering poor quality food. Bubs has great deals like this and still manages to maintain great quality! My brother and I got 40 wings and 2 beers and our bill was like than $ 30. You cannot beat that. Our waitress was incredible as well as the rest of their staff. Whenever we needed something, they came to our table before we even had the chance to waive them down. My only complaint was that it was insanely busy and it was seat yourself so it was a little awkward walking around a cramped restaurant trying to find our own seat. But I know what it was so busy now! I’ll for sure be back, Bubs!

I wanted to dig this place. It had that vibe like it was a cool laid back spot to eat and drink. Came here after the SD Half Marathon and it was busy. The overflow of the downtown crowd came here after the race. I get it that food could be a bit of a wait but it took about 45 minutes to get our meals when we were quoted 15 minutes. That’s too long. I could’ve excused 25 minutes. But 45? The meal I got was good. It was the redneck special on the breakfast/brunch menu. Not sure if the 45 minute wait for food will bring me back though.

Went here to watch the Warriors play. It was a Saturday and there was a Monster Truck rally going on that night. So Bubs was extremely crowded, It was first come first serve so you have to find your own table. We got lucky and as people were starting to head over to Petco for the event. They have a good amount of TVs here so you can watch pretty much any game you want. The game was on ESPN so I’m not sure if they have NBA tv or NFL network for those games. A cool thing that have is a speaker box. Depending on what game you are watching they could give you a speaker for the table so you can listen to the commentary while watching. And what do you do while watching the game. Eat and drink of course. They have a decent beer menu and limited liquor but enough get your through the game. The food is regular bar food nothing special. I got the turkey burger and tater tots. You can’t miss with the tots and the burger was ok. Over all a good place to pregame before heading into Petco as it 100 yards from the entrance.

My friends and I actually came here to watch the Super Bowl game yesterday. A few friends were lucky enough to grab a few seats and then a table opened up. AWESOME! I would highly recommend arriving early. It got packed pretty quickly! The game started at 3:30PM but my friends came in around 1PM. Yeah, it was a looooong night. There were Sunday pitcher specials that were priced around $ 15. Not too bad. I love wings and they had some pretty good ones. According to my Unilocal app, it said check to check-in and get free tots but the waitress said they no longer do that. She had to ask her boss who said they will just do it this one time for us. Ummm, remove the free tots from the app then. Other than that, it was an overall great experience!

So we were at Hotel Salomar and trying to decide where we were going to eat. We kept looking through Unilocal reviews, but something stood out. Or maybe I should say, we just looked out. Our view from our window was wonderful, but Bubs’ sign for tots kept flashing at us. YUP. We decided by looking out our window and seeing what was in front of us and we were not disappointed. For some reason, I just want to eat biscuits and gravy wherever we go. Don’t worry, it’s just once in a while. K, I’ll get to the food: –biscuits and gravy plate –The Little Hammer(breakfast burrito) Both were awesome, both of us were happy, both of us will be coming back… because now I’m looking at your dinner menu and I haven’t eaten! Biscuits weren’t mind blowing but hey, I’ve been to Pine State in Oregon and frequented Nick’s in Iowa for biscuits, so I’m not gonna be that harsh. Plus, your cheesy eggs and potatoes are delicious and I made another meal out of them. My husband very much so enjoyed his burrito, which I was allowed a bite of it was wonderful. I’m sorry if this was too much reading for a review, but I was feeling wordy tonight.

I’ve been here a few times now. .so, I’m ready to write my review. First of all, I don’t like mainstream sports. And this is a major sports bar. Big tv’s with sports on them everywhere! They have really cool sports themed games to play. Like video golf, and some kind of hunting game. They also have a caged in basketball hoops game. I think there are more, but I haven’t really ventured all over the restaurant. I’ve played the hoops game and it was fun. Also, my kids enjoyed the shooting game a lot. The service here was really really good! Everytime I’ve come here, I was in a irritated mood before I got here. .but the great beer selection and fun atmosphere is pretty fun! Also, I’m not a fan of tater tots. But, they hit the spot! Not bad. Served hot, fresh, crispy outside, yummy on the inside. Their secret is in the toppings, shhh.

This place is great. Living down here in the East Village and having a million restaurants and bars to go to this place is consistent and solid every time. And I hate the word«solid» but thats the best way to describe it. I hate the Gaslamp as the service and food is usually hit-or-miss and seldom consistent. We have come here and they actually remember you if you’re a local and there pours are consistent and the food is always top-notch. The wings are literally phenomenal. I believe it’s Thursdays where it’s ½ price wing night. They have awesome flavors and could rival BWW any day of the week. If you buy a drink here you actually get your moneys worth and not this Gaslamp $ 12.50 Tito’s pour that consists of .5oz of vodka. Here you actually get the drink you’re paying for. We’ve had wings here, burgers, grilled cheese, soup and it’s all been amazing. Definitely worth checking out. Staff has been great from the door guys to the bartenders.

Let me start off by saying i love bubs. I mean you can’t beat a sports bar with a basketball hoop inside. Plus the connect four games all over. Drunk adults playing connect four and shooting hoops= hilarity. Wing Wednesday is a heaven sent in my mind. I can live off the Sriracha and Carolina gold wings. Now you may say why not five stars? Our recent brunch killed that fifth star. Everything«mehhh.» Ordered a michelada and the lil hammer. My gf got some cucumber drink and the steak hash. We ended up sending both drinks back. My side of breakfast potatoes came out icy. But luckily the burrito was at temp. My girlfriend’s skillet had the same problem. Some parts of the skillet were cold. Im guessing we got the same batch of cold/old potatoes. Very disappointing brunch.

Came here to watch the UFC fight’s when I was visiting San Diego, the chicken wings were delicious, the chicken wasn’t deep fried but grilled which made it very juicy. Our waiters were pretty attentive and fast for how busy it was. Overall i was very happy with coming here and I would return next time I come down and visit!

I took a late lunch today and decided to stop into Bub’s for a quick bite. Bub’s has been here for a while and is a must stop when catching a game in downtown sd. They have multiple tvs where they have the games playing. They also show the ufc fights on sundays. I believe it is no cover as well. I decided to order the totzone. Which is tater tots smothered in mozzarella, parmesean, with pepperoni. It was fantastic as a little guilty pleasure. Tater tots are their signature dish, and you can’t really go wrong. Shannon was a great help. She was very kind, energetic, and very personable. She always had a smile on her face. The wait wasn’t too long and the ability to take it to go definitely was convenient. I’ve been here on several occasions, but usually just for the drinks. I’ve stopped by for their cobb salad during lunch. Their cobb salad has the main ingredients: hard boiled egg, bacon, tomato, blue cheese, onions, and grilled chicken over a bed of greens. I’m not particularly a fan of ranch, it’s definitely not the first dressing I go for, but I love their ranch dressing. Their grilled chicken is cooked perfectly and seasoned well. As some of the other reviews have mentioned, they definitely don’t skimp on any of the toppings. Lunch is never too busy, so there are always tons of options of where you want to sit: bar, table, booth. I wish I had taken a picture. I know I’ll be back, so I’ll make sure to take one next time. Salad was just too good to wait!

Tots, beer, mini corn dogs… Yeah, that’s an easy 4 stars. This is always such a good spot for pre-gaming, or just gaming. They have tons of beer on tap and a really good cocktail menu that will please everyone. Depending on what season it is(baseball, football, etc) will determine how screwed you’re going to be for seating. Baseball isn’t too bad, but football… you’re screwed. There is tons of room so your chances of finding at least 1 seat is pretty high. The food is great and definitely adds about 3,000 calories to your daily count, so be prepared to run for 3 hours the next day. They have some games in the back like a basketball hoop, darts and a few others, It’s all kinda fuzzy to me because that’s what Bub’s does to my head so don’t mark my words. The patio is a great spot to people watch if the Padres are playing in town, so grab your beer, a basket of tots and find a patio seat cause it’s about to get humorous.

I always plan to make a stop here before games and it was just a few days ago that I actually sat and ate their food. It was crazy crowded because of the game however I was able to get a table quick(lucky me). I heard so many great things about their wings so I went ahead and ordered half buffalo and half bbq plum. WOW they were amazing!!! I was a bit hesitant at first bc I’m very picky with wings. I usually like mine crispy but man, these wings were perfectly cooked! extra meaty too! I highly recommend getting them. I also ordered their mule that was spicy(i forgot the name of it) but it was alright. Service was good. Pretty basic considering its your typical busy sports bar on a game day. I’ll make sure I grab a bite to eat the next time I come back and not just order drinks haha.

This place saved me from the madness of Comic Con and gave me a chance to have a couple beers and relax my feet. It was the perfect get away to grab some food and take a breather. I sat at the bar and service was immediate. All the girls that worked there were super nice. They even helped me out with a phone charger. So anyway on to the food. They had a big thing going on with loaded tater-tots, they were doing a cross promotion with Minions. So I went with the Buffalo Chicken Tots. They were good, had a nice amount of cheese with chicken tossed in buffalo sauce. I felt like they could have been hotter. Like maybe one part of the meal was done before the other while the other just sat. Price was decent for drinks and food though. They could have charged more especially being in downtown by the ballpark and the convention center. I would pop in here before a Padres game for sure. And next year for Comic Con I will be back her to enjoy a little quiet time and a couple brews. CHEERS!!!

The Tater Tots Rock here! I like coming to Bub’s, the food is good and the service is good. This place offers up a fun atmosphere with sports bar feel, games to play. A pretty decent sized venue. Open air seating. A good selection of beers to choose from. This place gets pretty busy during events at Petco. I enjoy it more when there are no events. It is less crowded. Recently, I tried the cauliflower wings. And was amazed at how delicious these are. A neat choice over chicken wings and the same sauces can be ordered. The service has been good each time that I have been here.

Don’t be fooled — while the common and often accurate preconceived notion of broad menu contemporary brewpubs surrounding baseball parks is that they’re overpriced with mediocre food — Bub’s at the Ballpark is very much not that at least when it comes to their Lil’ Hammer breakfast burrito. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? This is difficult to judge considering I strolled in right at Bub’s opening at 1000 in the morning on a Saturday. I was one of very few people there, and while my two breakfast burritos took a good 20 minutes to dish up, they were made fresh to order so I really can’t complain. This looks to be a great spot to grab and brew and watch a game if you can’t make it into the park, but I’ll let the other reviews speak to it’s sportsbar-ability: I got my order to go. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $ 10.50 for a breakfast burrito?! This better be the largest breakfast burrito I’ve ever see… … … oh. oh my. Whelp, indeed this is one of the largest breakfast burritos I’ve ever seen, and is very easily two meals in one. Packed full of egg, steak, potato, onion and cheese, this is an absolute gem that I’d gladly pay for. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I’ve probably reviewed at the very least twenty or so breakfast burritos over the past few years, and more often than not they succumb to one of two dealbreakers: 1) They aren’t any better than a sum of what are typically some pretty standard parts 2) They don’t have crispy potatoes inside Outside of being huge, Bub’s Lil’ Hammer breakfast burrito succumbs to neither of those pitfalls, and is an excellent summation of high quality and high flavor ingredients. The eggs are cooked in with the steak, which flavors the entire filling and is brought together by just the right amount of cheese. Additionally, while there are breakfast potatoes on the side, the burrito is filled with marvelously crispy hash brown style potatoes, which, in my opinion, really put this burrito over the top. Well done indeed. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Bub’s dishes up the best breakfast burrito I’ve had in San Diego, but I’ll need to go again to see if everything else is up to snuff. Furthermore, while it’s sizable, $ 10.50 is nothing to snuff at for a breakfast item. No Star Granted.

Burgers! tater tots! tater tot skillets! wings! What’s not to love? Oh yeah, they have a good selection of beer and a full bar as well. This is a casual spot with a basketball net and a couple of video games. The tables are seat yourself and they have two bars as well as an outdoor patio. I have to admit I come here a lot. It is one of my «go-to’s» for a number of things. When I’m in the mood for a simple burger and tatertots, Bubs. When I am looking for a spot to grab a late night snack or meal, Bubs. When I want a large selection of Wings, Bubs. It is simple and comfortable. The wings Archie!!! Get them. I do not know the true origin story for them, but it is a combination of buffalo and honey mustard plus a secret ingredient. I am also partial to the Hawaiian plum and the buffalo. Barbecue is good too. The burgers The woody burger is a regular cheese burger. The difference is Bub’s uses brisket, short rib, and sirloin to make its beef patties. I love all those things! The Carolina Bacon is their BBQ Bacon burger. Also very good. The tots I love tots. I know they aren’t fancy, and«true foodies» would turn up their noses at me while eating their fois gras, but I don’t care. I love them anyway. School cafeteria lunch had a profound effect on me and it manifests itself here(and a strange unrequited urge to have chicken patties from time to time.). Bub’s tots can come alone as an appetizer. They are one of their«red baskets» so after 7pm on weekdays they are half off. They also come with the burgers. They are usually crispy on the outside, warm and«potato-y» on the outside. They also have a good selection of skillet tots. Even if you have never been here or seen them you can guess what they are, but I don’t think that does them any justice. Crispy tater tots served on a hot metal skillet topped with a variety of things(usually including at least one type of cheese) and typically with a theme. For example: Pittsburgh Tots — basically everything that should be in a philly cheese steak, but on tater tots instead of in a roll. totzones — tater tots covered in marinara sauce with mozzarella, Parmesan, and pepperoni. I’m working in trying them all. My only wish is that they had more for happy hour. On non-game days, they have a few beer and drink specials and half priced red baskets which include tatertots, fries, onion rings, or sweet potato tots.
