I came here to pick up a couple of breakfast burritos on Saturday. Because I just got back from the east coast, and I was craving San Diego Mexican. Man, my burrito did not disappoint. It was so FREAKING amazing. I’ve had a couple breakfast burritos that didn’t impress me much from various places in San Diego, but this just knocked my socks off(lmao ew that’s such a corny saying). ANYWAY. I can’t wait to come back and try some other things, it was hard not to order everything on the menu when I was there that morning.

This place is super convenient for me, I literally live up the hill from here and when I’m craving taco shop Mexican, that’s totally a stand alone category, I force myself to walk down the hill and back to earn that burrito. First trip there I added on a Pico De Gallo fruit salad(for nostalgic reasons) to balance out the second carne asada burrito of the weekend. The fruit salad was a bit over priced and the quality was just medicore… the burrito wasn’t bad but nothing to write home about. I did go one other time there for Menudo to cure a hangover and that was pretty disappointing, there was no flavor to it and I wouldn’t be surprised if it came out of a can… so don’t come here for that but everything else was ok. I’m sure I’ll be back for its sheer convenience and pretty good food.

A little disappointed with this place. Really had no flavor in the carne asada burrito or the fish taco.

First time eating from here and I did the delivery option. The food took a little less than an hour which was right in the range they had said(45 – 60). The delivery guy was nice and quick dropping off the food. I haven’t eaten all of the food I ordered because I had to order at least $ 15 worth of food for delivery. So for tomorrow or later this evening I have a bean and cheese burrito which is HUGE and fruit which looks really yummy! I ate the cheese enchiladas and then I got the gauc and cheese fries. Everything so far has been good! Not the best Mexican I’ve ever had but for the price, being able to deliver and being open 24/7, it’s worth it!

I can only judge the place from my own experience here which, admittedly, is limited. On two different occassions, I’ve ordered combination plates at lunch and both were crap. One was a taco/enchilada plate, and the other was a chile releano/enchilada plate. Prices were too high, portions too small, salsas were awful, food itself was lukewarm and bland. If you’re looking for items like extra napkins, they keep those hidden the counter like it’s gold. Same with the Tapatio. Also, this is yet another place that charges you 35 cents for the«convenience» of using a credit card. A real business doesn’t do this, but increasingly I see this being done at these crappy little shops in strip malls. None of them inform you of it before hand. Santana’s at least has a virtually unreadable scrap of paper taped to the side of the cash register informing you of such a fee. Well, wasn’t that nice and thoughtful on their part. Sorry Santana’s but overpriced, lousy Mexican fare is becoming the norm in SD, and I can get it closer to my own home, if I’m that hard up.

*This review is based on delivery. I had ordered delivery one day and the estimated time of arrival was 1 hour, if you can wait that long delivery, it’s a convenient way to get your food. The time of arrival was accurate and the delivery person even texted me that he was on his way to deliver the food which is a plus giving me the heads up that it’s coming.(Thanks delivery guy thumps up to you) I ordered the Carne Asada fries. Still hot and fresh when I received it I did tell them I wanted a lot of hot sauce they did give me a lot, but it was not enough to cover 2 carne Asada fries for 2 people who like their sauce. Wish they had gave a bit more but I’m not docking points of that just wanted to give you guys a heads up if you want a lot of hot sauce be really specific on what a lot is to you. Well anyways back to the food it must have been really good or I must have been really hungry because I inhaled the Carne Asada fries like a boss lol! Nothing was left so therefore Santana you haven’t seen the last of me I will be ordering from you again! Ok thank you byyyee! Lol.

Open 24 hours, I hit this spot on my way home from a late night to stuff my face with some comfort food after a long day. I ordered for myself and my roommate… A surf n’ turf for me(delicious) and a grande burrito for him. Word of warning: I know being called grande one would assume it’s a big burrito, but it was roughly the size of my calf. It was three burritos in one. It should not be edible for a normal human. The regular burritos were respectably hefty, the grande is just absurd. Everything was good, tasted super fresh, the salsas were pretty tasty as well. I would definitely recommend this place.

Don’t want to sound Bias because I live up the street but this place is my go to Mexican food spot. They have been consistent every time and give you a good amount of meat. TJ Tacos is where its at

This was always my go to mexican food place during the weekend. I love love love their fries and their burritos. I was not disappointed until today ! My boyfriend and I had gone there today and ordered rolled tacos and a surf and turf burrito.(Mind you we usually order a surf and turn burrito) but this time it was pretty much a rice burrito. There was way too much rice & we were expecting fries, not rice. My boyfriend asked the cashier if she could exchange it for fries and she was so rude ! She started arguing with him telling him that that was what he had ordered and she even asked him. That sure wasn’t what we asked for ! Even if it was a misunderstanding, she shouldn’t have been so rude about it right ?! The customer is always right, no? We ended up leaving and not even eating the food. This place just lost one of their regular customers oh well. I gave them two stars for all the other times they weren’t rude and got my orders right.

Do not be fooled by the exterior and interior of this restaurant; it is amazing. I ordered the Surfing Cali Burrito — carne asada, shrimp, fries, cheese and tomatoes. I also added sour cream which made it even better. The burrito was HUGE and absolutely delicious. It was wrapped well and incredibly flavorful. The carne was tender, the shrimp cooked to perfection and everything came together perfectly. If I was from the area, I would frequent this restaurant.

The best fruit salad north of the border… Almost the way it’s done in TJ! Burritos were good as well; Fresas con crema were superb, and my 11 yo approved the raspado

It’s your typical looking shopping center casual Mexican joint… but it’s much better than most: — free chips and a half dozen awesome salsas, from mild to mucho inferno — add a can of soda for a whole dollar, not the $ 2+ others charge for a drink — wider than avg. selection — large portions… couldn’t finish my burrito — meats seem to have been quality… not fatty/grissely In short, get stuffed with some tasty grub for under $ 10 — and that includes drink tax and tip!

I’m so lucky, because this place is open 24⁄7 and it’s just walking distance from where I live. Super convenient for my late night hunger calls! I always crave their Surf and turf fries!!! The Surf and turf fries are theeeee best! Lolita’s has been my favorite Mexican restaurant, but I must say, this one might even top it. Their California burrito is delicious too. At Lolita’s I’ll normally get the two in one burrito, which consists on two rolled tacos in a California burrito. I’ve asked them to do the same thing as well, additional cost of course and it taste just as good! Grab a bag of free tortilla chips too, and you can pair it with your fries! Their fountain drinks they put outside their counter, which includes horchata and the tamarindo, which are my faves!!! Free refills! A little weird since the soda tap is behind the counter, you’d figure they’d switch the two, but I’m not complaining. Def a must try!

Quick Tip: Surf & Turf Fries. You’re welcome! I live pretty close to Burritos Santana and there are several Mexican food spots in the area, but this is my go-to! This is theeeeeeee best spot for Surf & Turf Fries. I’m not kidding. My #1 spot for Surf & Turf Fries!!! From the fries, to their toppings, to the melted cheese… all together it gives you gooey goodness of euphoria in your mouth. Sometimes I ask for a flower tortilla on the side so I can eat it with my fries, I even throw some on the tortilla to have the best of both worlds. I got a lot of my friends hooked on their S&TFs so I know I’m not trippin’ when I say Burritos Santana as the best S&TF in San Diego. Before this spot Lolita’s Tsunami Fries were my favorite, but they are shady on the shrimp and carne asada. Burritos Santana gives you a good amount with both. Great ratio to fries, sauce, and meat. If I’m not eating their S&TF I’m ordering their Cali Burrito/Carne Asada Burrito and I tell them to add two rolled tacos into it. I got the idea from Lolita’s 2-in-1 Burrito, but there aren’t any Lolita’s close by and Lolita’s isn’t 24⁄7. I like to add the rolled because it gives it that texture that I’m looking for, depending on my mood. If you’ve never tried this, I highly recommend it… live a little bit. ;) If you eat good food, then you will never eat bad food again. @dmagicp

This place is so convenient! Not only is it open 24⁄7 but it’s close to home! I really like their burritos, they give a lot of meat! Portion sizes for it are huge! I personally like their carne asada burrito with cheese. I’ve also tried their chicken enchiladas. The sauce had a nice spice. They have a nice selection of salsas in their bar which are complimentary with chips. I love that they sell Mexican Coke by the liter too! I’m really interested in trying out their desserts, everything looks so fresh! Service here is also good, the ladies that work in the front are very friendly! They always greet me with a smile. Will be back soon!

Came back to satisfy a carne asada fries craving. Again I was overjoyed at rediscovering the salsa bar with a variety of salsa with varying degrees of heat(I like to mix the two spiciest with the green mild one). My craving was satisfied and they got my order correct with extra pico. Only complaint is that they used one of those togo trays that has segments for different foods when carne asada fries are just one happy deep fried mountain.

Cheesy goodness meats heaven… this is probably an accurate description of what a quesitaco is. It’s crisp melted cheese with shrimp or meat taco. It’s my new go to fat kid meal and extremely dangerous because it’s so close to work. I’ve also had regular tacos and quesadillas here but my personal favorite is definitely the quesitacos. I could probably eat them everyday, the investment in new pants would be so worth it… don’t judge till you have gone! People are always nice and the salsa bar has so many options. They don’t point and stare when I serve myself alllllllll the salsas with the complimentary chips close to the register. They may quietly point and comment but at least I don’t hear it. Thanks guise! I also love that they carry Mexi cokes. There is nothing like a couple quesitacos and cokes after a night of drinking and fun. Maybe I will see you there, I’ll buy you a quesitaco ;)

Chamango! This place serves my favorite drink, nearby my apartment, and their food is pretty good! Husband had their shrimp burrito with beans, rice, and sour cream. It was delicious — my husband’s exact words. I had their chicken flautas with guacamole. I think it should have been eaten right there because by the time I ate it at home, they had gotten a bit soggy. But, was good nonetheless. A plus to this establishment is how nice their staff is and how quick they were able to get our order out. This place needs more advertising because it’s pretty good! Give it a try whenever you’re in the area.
