Awesome little neighborhood coffee stand. Staff is always super friendly, the beverages are always super delicious and refreshing, and I never have to wait more than a couple minutes. Try the iced chai latte with a shot of espresso – AMAZING!

DAFUQ is acai? Who knows, who cares? It’s freakin’ delicious. I’ve been through a few different bowls here and I’m torn between«The Drifter» and«The Chronic» as my favorite. Topped with fresh fruit and finished with a little coconut and honey it’s more of a mid-day snack for me rather than breakfast, which I assume is their busiest time of day. Super fast service, really affordable and seeing that they share a parking lot with the mariscos truck, Fern and Hawthorn may be my favorite little detour when running errands. Oh, there are some reviews that say«cash only.» Bulls#it! Swiped my card, suckas!

Really cute little place and one of the things that makes this neighborhood unique. Also best place in the neighborhood to get a breakfast bowl along with your coffee. Glad this place will survive and isn’t being forced out by Target Express.

Favorite coffee shop in all of SD. Kind of bummed they only take cash– bc I always forget. But it’s all good. Really great daily brews, breakfast bowls and friendly staff. — plus they keep your punch card, so if you’re like me, always forgetting things, they’ve got your back! Oh, and they have free dog treats!

This is the best coffee in South Park. I’ve never tried the acai bowls but my girlfriend loves them. There’s a toy chest close by that my 3-year goes bonkers for. It turns out Captain Kirk is actually this funny short dude named Bob Allen. He’s a real character. I recommend striking up a conversation with him if you have the opportunity.

Great outdoor atmosphere and great different selections on acái bowls. Me and my girlfriends first visit there, we met Captain Kirk. He asked us how we were doing and how we enjoyed our meals. Everything on the menu taste great. From the coffee to the bowls, you guys are amazing. The customer service is always great and I love the seating area. You get to bring your dogs and they have water and toys for them too. Also, Captain Kirk told us that the plastic silverware they use for the forks, spoons, and bowls are all made out of recyclable things. Which is awesome!

My old coworker introduced me to their acai bowls and I love them! The 420 bowl is my favorite here. I wish it was closer to where I lived but it’s not so I don’t get to stop by as often as I’d like to. Whenever I’m in balboa park for a morning jog or at the zoo, I stop by for an acai bowl. Give it a try!

Best acaii bowls you can find(that aren’t in one of the beach towns). They have a large selection of acaii bowls and smoothies. Their coffee is great too. The only thing to be aware of is that they can take a while, so don’t go if you’re in a huge hurry.

I loved this place! I had breakfast here three times and lunch once while I was visiting San Diego. The food is super fresh and delicious and the service is always friendly. I find the menu a bit overwhelming, in that they have like a dozen acai bowls that are different combinations of the same 6 ingredients. I ended up getting one pitaya bowl and a few Hawaiian acai bowls, all tasty.

After giving it a couple of attempts, I’m still strongly disappointed. While I’m sure their Acai bowls are fantastic… My coffee experience has been awful. Each time my iced coffee was severely diluted with creamer where I couldn’t even taste the coffee. Once the girl offered to make me another one(which I appreciated) and after two attempts wasn’t any better. Each and every time it’s like that. Not sure why iced coffee would be that watery?! The girls that work there are extremely friendly but unfortunately their coffee is not so great.

I got the Hulk bowl. It was delicious and one of the best ones I have had here in town. Thanks Captain Kirk!

I came to visit the new express Target and when I was heading to my vehicle I noticed this cute little coffee place so of course I wanted to see what they offered. I ordered the Green Chai Tea Latte as well as the Purple Monkey Smoothie. Loveddddd the Green Chai Tea Latte so I will definitely be ordering again(the smoothie I will taste later on today but I loved the name). The barista was super sweet and although I didn’t bring my fur babies with me they offer treats for dogs so I thought that was really nice.

I came here based on the«amazing acai bowl» but I was incredibly disappointed. It took at least ten minutes to get my soupy bowl of acai that was mainly granola, frozen fruit(that probably comes from a Costco bag of frozen fruit), and some sprinkles coconut flakes. Acai bowls are not supposed to be soupy. It was so gross and expensive. I literally just threw it away. 2 disgusting acai bowls and a frozen frappé was $ 18! I didn’t even order the large acai bowls. Do yourself a favor And go to one of the many OB coffee/acai shops if you want good real acai.

I can sum up the acai bowls here in 3 words: hit or miss. Unfortunately, it’s mostly miss. The ratio is about 90 percent granola and fruit, ten percent acai. Props for the ample fruit portion, but the amount of granola is disgusting. I dug to the bottom, and couldn’t find a single acai-only bite! It’s just soggy granola through and through. I actually wanted to take it back and ask for a refund but I don’t live in the neighborhood. Bummer. The lesson here is to get it without granola, and if they still gipp ya, time to find a new venue.

Skip the coffee and go for the acai! The best acai bowls around. I’ve even converted a few people that were previously devout lovers of other acai places. However, the coffee is sub par. Almost every time I order any type of coffee drink, The espresso drinks tend to be on the luke warm side and the various coffee urns are cold if not empty. I’ve learned my lesson over the years and usually only go for the acai and then make another stop for coffee.(#sadface) Please Step up your coffee game! It’s a sad day when I’d rather hit the Starbucks! Sidenote: I’ve noticed a new barista who is coining the phrase: «what can I get for you SUPERSTAR!?» it’s highly annoying. Just a normal greeting would suffice.

Captain Kirks offers more variety of açai and pitaya(dragon fruit) than any other place I know of. I’ve been coming here since they open and the food, choices, and experiences have only improved over time. My favorite is the Drifter(acai with dark chocolate chips) and the iced vanilla nut coffee.

Ordered the 420 bowl, staff was nice but acai texture was runny like a smoothie, just not as thick as it should be.

Captain Kirks is a tiny shack nestled in the super cute community of South Park. The shack is decorated with Star Trek memorabilia, of course! Captain Kirks is my go-to spot for acai bowls! The acai bowls is the perfect serving size– you are full from the bowls but not over stuffed! I love the different types of bowls that they offer, as well. My favorite is the drifter: acai topped with hemp granola, strawberries, bananas, chocolate chips, coconut and honey. It’s divine! REMEMBERTOBRINGCASH! It is CASHONLY!

Cute coffee shop, friendly service and delicious food! I had an acai bowl and it was delicious and filling. The Mexican mocha is also very delicious. If you are in s hurry this is probably not the place for you. They have dog treats so bring your dog and sit at one of their tables and enjoy your coffee and acai bowl!

Who doesn’t love a place called Captain Kirk’s? This place calls trekkies from all over with a name like this, genius! They held me there with the tasty acai bowls! I ordered the chronic with peanut butter on top. Totally recommend this for any bowl, top it with PB! It was so freaking tasty. I also got a coffee drink that was on special, an egg nog something or other. It was good but a little on the sweeter side. I think it was the egg nog, I don’t normally get egg nog drinks unless they have liquor in thems. Just remember to bring your cash and there is little seating, keep in mind it’s all outdoor but it’s a great little spot. You may just want to stop to pick up breakfast and a great coffee on your way home. Don’t forget the peanut butter! The girl and I will be back for some acai bowls!
