Children’s Specialists of San Diego

This is a dental clinic run out of one of the suites inside the Children’s Hospital complex. It’s your basic pediatric dentistry, and the parents are allowed to stand over the dentist and child as the procedure and checkup are going on. There are no private rooms (helps to cut down on costs) so if you’re not the type to want anybody else to see your kid, you’re kind of SOL here, but the quality of the dentistry is quite good and my kids have never left here complaining about pain from a cleaning or check up.
The cost is very affordable, a lot better than you’d find from private dentists with posh private rooms, and one thing I really like about this place is that they all wear surgical garb, masks, have their hair back, etc. and they make sure that sanitation is a top priority. Since the chairs are in a large open office they also make sure that you are in and out of there in a good amount of time, so they’re not going to sit your kid down, leave the room, and then come back in 15 minutes later. They take your kid in, make sure xrays are current, then they go straight into the exam and findings, and they discuss the procedure with you (right there beside your kid) and you sign papers, they do what they need to do, and then you are discharged. Both of my kids were there a few weeks ago and we were all out in under 40 minutes.
FORTY MINUTES??! Hell yeah. It probably helped that neither of them had cavities and only needed a cleaning and fluoride treatment, but that was just really efficient and it made me a happy Mama.

My son sees Dr. Bastian in the allergy/​asthma clinic. The staff there, so far, are excellent. Quick service, professional and caring.
