«Polo Field at Qualcomm? Is that where they keep the unicorns?» It is the venue no one has ever heard of but there it is behind Ikea, next to the Trolley tracks in the southwest corner of the Qualcomm parking lot. This venue is basically a big grass field with a string of porta pottys down one side and couple of food booths on the other. The bar is in a coral which you cannot leave with your drink. The only beer offered was Bud so I am glad we went to Oggi’s first to drink real beer. There was a pretty good crowd here Saturday night for Bob Dylan but moving around was easy. The stage was a good height so you could see from pretty much anywhere. The sound was excellent. A video screen would have been nice, especially for those stuck in the drinking pen in the back. Overall we had a fun time and if someone I liked was playing here I would go back.

«I know you want what’s on my mind. I know you like what’s on my mind. I know it eats you up inside…» Stone Temple Pilots at Concerts on the Green = mini-Coachella If you’ve ever been to Coachella, you know the following: — a wide variety of people(rockers, cougars, potheads, kids & other) — glorified porta-potties all lined up in a row — small lines for beer — food tents with cheap food — great music Scott Weiland still puts on a great concert despite his efforts to remain sober. A few tragic misplacement’s(ahem, the white-contact lens Marilyn Manson reject and the obnoxiously horny cougar) made the concert all the more… colorful. With all the space, it was semi-easy to move around to a spot where: a) you wouldn’t get hit on by old rockers holding onto their teens b) you get trampled by a headbanger(seriously? STP?) c) you’d be blocked by the huge pothead trying to bum some green d) you’d be around 1 of 2 annoyances mentioned above. The bad? $ 15 for parking! I highly suggest taking the trolley to avoid the exit traffic handled by thespian rejects. Parking fees should have 1 star subtracted, but I figured I’d be lenient.
