Spectacular! I can see why this place is often overlooked during breakfast/brunch — it’s right next to Snooze! But, that’s why it stood out to me because while there was a two hour wait there, D Bar had none! Plus, I’m more for enjoying brunch with savory selections rather than over sweetened, border-line dessert pancakes. I had the short rib hash with eggs. Portions were huge, but somehow I got this down… quite hardy, but not too greasy and the short ribs weren’t not too fatty either. The waffles on the side provided a savory balance, but were kind of meh. Our friend also ordered coffee which came out in a french press! So classy and a bit different. We even went as far as ordering a pitcher of mimosa. Our waiter let us know that it was good for just over 5 pours(the perfect amount for our party of 5)! Everyone was well satisfied with the food and experience here! As a note, I’ve also gone during dinner before(on V-day with the fam bam for my birthday dinner) and the soufflé was absolutely divine. We had to order it ahead of time because it took 20 minutes to cook(which we were informed of at the beginning of the dinner), but well worth it! I am just now looking and it says this place is closed?! OMG, business in North Park is tough to come by, but that rent must have been killer. Sad to hear this! Good luck to Chef Keegan and his crew! :(

Wait, D BARISCLOSED?! NOOOOOOOOO!!! I loved this place. Their chicken waffle sandwich was great. Kobe sliders too. The desserts as well. I thought the restaurant was doing well, but I came home from a two week trip to New York and lo and behold — d bar is closed?! I am so sad, please reopen.

I LOVE this place. Only mistake we made was not sitting at the bar. If they have it available… DOIT! My fiancé and I checked this place out as an after dinner dessert place. Apparently they also serve food, but their desserts were on point. We ordered 3 desserts(cookies and milk, cake and shake and bananas imposter foster). The vanilla shake really was to die for. Also, side note… SOSAD to see that they are now closed? This restaurant was really cool and would definitely be at the top of my list when returning to San Diego… hopefully they’ll be reopening or opening a location in a different area. Either way, it was excellent. Sad to see they are now closed.

When I found out they were closing, I had to come here at least two more times! The first evening, there was a birthday party and the dessert chef was slicing the cake for the party, but it was a round cake and the way she cut it, made the slices rectangular… but the excess she was throwing away… that’s when she heard me whimper: «she’s throwing away caaaaaakke…» I didn’t know she could hear us whimpering, and laughing… and then it happened, she plopped down a plate with a couple small pieces of cake! Yes, we can have cake before dinner! Came the night before they closed for good. Met a former coworker here and even though they were closing, the service was great! The food still delicious! I will miss having d bar in my rotation. I will also miss the friendly servers! Thanks Keegan!

I’m giving it like a 4.5. First off it was a Friday at 8pm and we had no reservation, the hostesses were nice enough to find us a spot at the dessert bar(full service there too.) Bf got the burger and he said it was amazing, he devoured it so I believe him. The fries that came with it, just regular fries. I got the Mac n cheese with bacon and added the lobster tempura. It was to die for, only criticism is that it could have been cheesier. The bread crumb sort of soaked it all up and wasn’t as moist anymore. Still delicious though. The real winners here were the desserts! The Nutella beignets. Home made churros with chocolate sauce, and a madagascar chocolate cake slice with a vanilla shake. WOW! Is all I have to say. Do you’re self a favor and go just for the sake of those desserts! Service all around was nice and efficient. Definitely will be back.

Can’t say I was even a bit dissatisfied with my experience at D bar. The food is delicious and I really just love place itself. Very spacious and open. We started off with the Brussel Sprouts. It is amazing. The flavour is to die for and I’m in love with the idea of siracha and honey on everything I eat now. Of course it probably won’t be as good but I’m going to try it anyway. My main course was the Southern Fried Belgian. Pretty intense and way too big to fit into my mouth. I ended up eating most of it with a fork and knife. My friend had the Baller Style one and couldn’t finish it. I had an iced tea which came in a tall, skinny glass. Felt a little bad that the waiter had to fill it 5 times, plus my water. I was a bit dehydrated for the night before. So… I’d recommend they get larger glasses. Our waiter was friendly and outgoing. It took a little longer than expected for our food to arrive, but we slowly worked on our appetizer until they came. I’ll definitely be back!

It was our first visit, a couple of weeks ago at D bar. Not a bad place but again nothing stands out to me. We had cake and shake combo. The cake was really big but the shake was small and taste A-OK… I love that Hillcrest area has so many new & hip places but I hate the parking situation. We had to park in the structure and that was at 9pm at night. Street parking is almost impossible so if this place was in another location then I may go back.

:Updated Review: I came back here for dinner and of course dessert. I’ve been here before and I think the food is just«ok». We originally wanted to go to another restaurant but the wait was long so I suggested going here. I made reservations to sit at the dessert bar. :Food: I didn’t take any pictures since I did not plan to write a review because I wrote one already but the customer service was really great so I decided to update my review. From what I remember, we got the Duck Confit Nachos, Southern Fried Belgian, and unfortunately I can’t find what I got on the menu; maybe they don’t have it anymore. Our dishes was just«ok». I really didn’t like my dish though, it was fish and pasta. The flavor had a sour taste that I didn’t enjoy. :Customer Service : The exceptional customer service from Cali and Chuck! I didn’t like my food but I decided to just eat what I can and not mention anything to Cali. After eating, I noticed Cali talking to one of the staff who happens to be Chuck. A few minutes later, Chuck came by and asked how everything was. He also asked me if I liked my dish and I told him, not so much. Chuck apologized and suggested to pick another dish but I wasn’t hungry anymore. He told me next time, I should tell the staff so they can get an opportunity to fix it. Chuck removed my dish from the bill. Cali was amazing! She was observant and becsuse of her actions, she truly cared about us enjoying our dinner. Thank you Cali and Chuck! :Highlight: Cali and Chuck! Superb customer service! :Rating: I still think the food here is still just«ok», maybe I’m not ordering the right things. Which leads me to giving the food 3 Stars. I didn’t eat dessert on my most recent visit but I’ve had their desserts before which I give 3 Stars and presentation 4 Stars. Customer Service on this recent visit was 5 Stars. I most likely would not come back here to eat but for desserts — I would consider it. :Tips: ~Call for reservations ~For a more detailed review please read my original review.
