Doug’s Cab and Limo

Doug is the man! I was stuck at La Jolla beach after my kayak flipped with no phone. Someone called Doug for me. He came in and took me back to downtown SD for 20 $ (phenomenal)
The awesomness is that he knew my phone died in the water so he actually dropped me off, went to his place and gave me a bag of rice to try and save my phone! Doug is the man!
Definitely recommended, really pleasant guy, was fun to ride with him!

I have no idea how this guy stays in business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND RISK HAVING NO RIDE WHATSOEVER… Unprofessional and does not commit to agreed time. I asked if he could pick us up 15 mins later and he texts back with a lecture saying he has more important customers than me that he can’t risk losing. This was an important event of driving the wedding party to a reception. He says he can only wait 5 mins after the agreed time. We were there on time and he wasn’t just because of us asking if he can wait 15 min. The wedding party had to drive their own vehicle to the reception. Not a cool thing to remember on your very special day. Thanks for trying to ruin a very special event. It would have been perfect if I had just called another town car driver. He needs to learn to be more professional and reliable. Doug, do everyone a favor and get another profession you enjoy because I don’t think you enjoy this one. Does not deserve even 1 star, but had to 1 to write review should be –5 stars.

I can’t comment on the service, but we contacted him to schedule an appt. Another taxi came on time, happened to be looking for someone with the same name, me and my boyfriend hopped in thinking it was all good.
Nope, after a very rude phone call of him hanging up after I apologized, he sends harassing text messages to me, calling me an idiot, literally, and I clearly texted back that he should stop texting as it’s becoming harassment, and he has the nerve to call me an idiot! So I give good old Red Cab a call since I’ve always had good experiences with them, and they tell me he was fired over a year ago! No wonder. I’ll edit this review with screenshots when I’m at my computer. For the love of God, if I wasnt leaving this city I’d file a harassment case!
Stop false advertising, Red Cab fired you for good reasons!

I had to call a cab for our recent trip to S. F. After reading about several different ones, I chose Doug and what a GREAT surprise!
Doug is friendly and on time! We happily chatted our way to the report and immediately knew we had chosen «wisely». His town car is comfortable and pristine too! Plus very fair rates.
We decided to book our return trip back from the S. D. airport to our home. Doug was again prompt and on time after we picked-​up our luggage.
Couldn’t have been happier with his service! We highly recommend him.

The bf and I took a random taxi from the line in front of the Solamar. We said we wanted to go to Point Loma and he drove along and started heading away from the water. Come and find out he was heading to Point Loma Ave. He had no idea there was a place called «Point Loma» and a place called «Cabrillo National Monument.» Over $ 40 for what was supposed to have been a 10 mile ride. Ridiculous.
After visiting the fabulous Cabrillo National Monument, we decided to ride the bus back. Alas the bus doesn’t run on weekends. WTF? So I Unilocaled and found the fabulous Doug who for $ 20 flat rate delivered us from Cabrillo NM to the entrance of the Midway Museum. I can’t say enough good things about the prompt, affable Doug, a long-​time SD resident with a good sense of humor and lots of little tidbits about local history and the idiosyncrasies of SD.
Do not hesitate to call Doug, he rocks! And his Towncar was pristine and tidy!

Doug was on time, very clean car, and was a great way to get around in a private car. I would definitely use his service again.

Other cab companies have harried dispatchers who don’t care and impersonal drivers in old, musty rides.
Doug’s Cab and Limo has… Doug, a really awesome guy who is on time, friendly as all get out, and provides a great service at reasonable prices.
We had an international flight and needed to get to the SD airport from Hillcrest. Doug got to our place early and drove us to the airport, all the while cheerfully introducing himself and chatting about stuff he’s seen in San Diego. When we came back to the US from abroad, we called Doug and asked if he could pick us up, and he was at the airport early again. All it took was a confirmatory text message, and we were on our way. It was a flat rate of $ 20 for each way. That’s cheaper than the Super Shuttle or other cabs!
I almost don’t want to add to the awesome Unilocal reviews because I want to keep this guy a secret. But Doug deserves all of the praise he’s getting. If you need to get anywhere in central San Diego, Doug’s your man.

I have used Doug two times to go from my mother’s house to the airport. He has been on time (450am) both times and he is pleasant and easy. A very comfortable ride to the airport, esp that early in the morning as a single woman. The only concern I have is that Doug makes a living off of this job. He is so good, I don’t want to loose him! thanks Doug!

Twas the night before Christmas
Reservations were made
For a ride to the airport
The very next day.
I in my pjs and the boy
With wolves on his sweater
Had just settled down
In the brisk San Diego weather.
When all of a sudden
From the bedroom I flew
Cursing and flailing
Not knowing what to do.
The reservation was actually
Set an hour too late
With no ride to the airport,
We knew not our fate.
I called late that evening,
Poor Doug was sleeping
His phone set to silent
And not even peeping
The message was left
In his voicemail with care
In hopes that it reached him,
The suspense I could not bear.
That morning a text came,
I read it with glee
Doug could come early
At 4:43.
He was timely and kind
On that cold Christmas day
We were thankful and grateful
For a ride, anything we would pay
It was only 20 dollars,
A bargain indeed
Doug is amazing,
The only driver you’ll need!

This is by far the best taxi experience of my life. He was 5 minutes early for a 5:15AM pickup. He was awake, cheerful, and appeared to enjoy his work. The vehicle was IMMACULATE. It smelled good. I will never take a traditional taxi again. To review: 1. On time. 2. Pleasant driver. 3. Clean fresh vehicle. I cannot rate this high enough.

Doug is super cool and laid back. Really cheap too! Other cab companies wanted to charge me $ 45 – 65 from UCSD campus to the SD airport, but Doug took care of it for $ 25!

Called around for a cab going from downtown to SD International Airport.
Got quoted $ 55.
Was informed $ 55 did not cover complimentary massage and tickets to Disneyland.
Hung up.
Called Doug.
Was informed there was a flat rate of $ 20 to anywhere within reason.
GAME TIME.
Picked up promptly at 5:00am.
No wait, no lag, he even texted me at 4:59 to let me know he was there.
HIGHLY recommend.

I am a big fan of Doug. Local and self employed. You call him directly and he is on time and super pleasant. I almost didn’t want to write this review because he is too awesome to share!

Doug is amazing I’ve used him several times. The last time I used him all I had was cash and he didnt have his credit card machine on him. He let me pay him the next time I needed his service! Pretty amazeballs if you ask me especially in city filled with rude cab drivers.

Doug totally saved my ass today. I had a super short ride with him. Less than $ 10. I left my phone in the back seat. (Mind you I’d never met the man before this cab ride). I found his business card in my pocket, and called him just hoping beyond hope that I get lucky.
He was already with another fare, but they had found the phone in the back seat… He was so happy I had gotten in touch with him. He finished his fare, and forty minutes later, he came back, parked and waited on the street while we tried to find each other in the comic con crowds…
Thank you Doug… You are not only a great cabbie, but a righteous human. You’ll have my SD driving around business always.

Ive used Doug many times. He treats you like a King Or Queen, is keen about the San Diego area and has very fair prices. I will call Doug everytime I need a ride and you should too!!!

This guy is awesome. He was prompt, friendly and the thing that really impressed us was that the cab was very clean and smelled great.
