Dr Mitchell S Shulkin Optometrist

I’ve been going to Dr. Shulkin since I was a kid. His staff is the friendliest people I have ever had to deal with and the doctor is super laid back and easy to talk to. I moved out of state, but will continue coming back here. I greatly recommend going here!

Dr. Shulkin is extremely approachable and answers all your questions. I’ve been wearing glasses/​contacts for almost 30 years and have seen it all in this industry. You won’t be disappointed in going here. It is not a cheap, chop shop like the chain places. You get real, human service from a doc who cares about his work.
Sometimes I have lots of little, stupid questions, even straying to how the equipment works, what certain charts mean, etc. In my past experience eye docs get annoyed by this and just want to get you out the door. Not Dr. Shulkin. He’s old school in a good way.
He also let me try different contact lenses for free before I purchased.

I have been loyal to Dr. Shulkin for over 10 years and for good reason; he is always friendly, talkative, composed, and understanding. I almost don’t believe the one star review written here, maybe it was a bad day, maybe the customer was unreasonable, maybe it’s a sabotage mission, but I have moved four times since orginally coming to San Diego in all different parts of town, I have switched dentists and doctors, but Dr. Shulkin will remain my optometrist as long as he is in business.

DO NOT GO HERE if you don’t want a crabby, unfriendly, and unprofessional services. It’s my first time there and will never be ever again. Unfriendly and bad services from the girl receptionist to the doctor. Made appt to get contact lenses; only got the comprehensive exam done and doctor was running out of time so asked me to come back another day to do the contact lenses exam & fitting eval. I had a question and the receptionist said will ask the doctor and call me later, but never called. On my 2^nd appt, doctor let me try some contact lense brand that I have not heard or seen before, so out of curiosity I asked is this a good brand. He said yea with an attitude. I tried to let him know that I was just curious of the brand am getting and want to know more about it, not because what he thinks I meant to say that his contact lenses are «crappy». Told him that doctor should explain to patient if patient are uncertainty and not to be defensive. He freaking get mad or something and told me exactly as «now go and put on that *DAMN* contact lenses» I was lil stunt but still calmly said «you’re a professional but why did you talk like that?» Doctor then even bluntly said «I can say whatever I want, if you don’t like it you can leave» Now this is really heated me up. I was speechless for 5 sec and thinking to myself if he wants to push a customer away, then why do I need a doctor like him, so rude and unprofessional. I don’t appreciate a doctor like that. He can be a good doctor but with a manner like that, heck no who would wanted to stay. So I just stood up and left. Told him am wondering how others would review you. Now that I see i will be the first reviewer.
Dr Shulkin = Sucking.
