One star because customer service on a simple return of 2-​pair of pants was SO difficult. They denied me a credit back check — just a store credit. Then an hour later in emails and phone calls they relented and sent a check!

I had 2 items to return that I received for Christmas. I don’t live in the San Diego area but this was the closest one and I happened to be in the area today. I went to their website to verify their hours and it said until 10pm on Sunday. I arrive at 7:45 to see that pretty much everything is closed. I went to the store and noticed employees cleaning up and opened the door. A very rude employee told me the store was closed. I said that the website said it was open until 10pm. She came back with an even b!&$*er attitude and said those were the Christmas hours.
Well if that was the case, then they should specify when it’s regular hours and when its holiday hours. There was no I’m sorry we’re closed or anything.
The only 5 star review makes me think it came from an employee’s friend and not an actual customer.

This store at UTC Mall is magnificent! The employees go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They are friendly, the prices are great, the products are better than you can find anywhere. I highly recommend this place for your outdoor products.

Although this store is not as large as the ones in Virginia it still has a good selection for women, including sweaters, jeans, pants, and accessories. The men’s section seem to have lots as well, maybe even more jeans. The clearance section was a bit small compared to what I’m used to but I did find a cute shirt among the clearance items.
They do carry First Ascent, unlike a previous reviewer stated, but maybe because they closed the other store since that review was given.
This is the only Eddie Bauer store in the San Diego area without driving nearly to Mexico but it was easy to get to.
The staff was super helpful and friendly. I think every employee asked me if I needed help. I was there for 2 hours shopping and I was carrying a backpack so either I looked lost or I looked like a thief! Either way they were cordial and professional even if they were wary of me; they disguised it well!
I don’t know what it is about their clothes but I cannot walk out of that store without spending just a bit more than originally planned. Luckily they have great sales often!
If you love the classic casual look then this store is it. They also have lots of jackets and coats which I could only imagine in this area having to buy one if you are heading north. But they are nice coats nonetheless.
They also do a 10% military discount!

Came here looking for long underwear… or «base layer» as the cool kids call it.
Figured Eddie Bauer store had to have that, right?
Nope. Not this location.
In fact, this location doesn’t have much of anything. There’s a couple nice people in here. And I guess they have a few shirts and a few jackets. But it certainly isn’t what you expect to see. It was quite frankly a waste of my time, and forced me to drive to another location.

The people here are friendly and helpful, but they don’t carry the First Ascent line — Eddie Bauer’s mountain gear thats actually pretty good.

This is a shop for those who have the style that is outdoorsy, comfortable, casual style.
