Excalibur Cigar & Scotch Lounge

Great cigar lounge tucked away within the same shopping center as cheetahs. I didn’t stay to have a drink bit it looked like they were stocked full of excellent whiskeys and hard to find liquors.
The guy who was working was really personable and helped me find the flavor of cigar I was looking for.

Cigars and scotch are 2 of my favorite things in life and I was excited to stumble across Excalibur!
Family owned and operated, they’ve created a very personable experience for patrons.
They have a great selection of cigars and scotch and the prices are decent.

Visited Excalibur today with my dad at the recommendation of Chris Merrill (You suck Merrill) and had a great time. Probably the best selection of cigars in San Diego, great beer and scotch selection and hospitality is second to none. I never had an empty glass in front of me and he gave me a good price on some Oliva Serie V.
On my way home I discovered that he is opening up a new lounge right by my house in Rancho Bernardo.

I came in here to buy a gift for my father. I don’t know a thing about cigars. I met with the owners nephew, he knows everything there is to know about cigars. I told him I’m looking for something for my father’s birthday that wouldn’t break the bank. He did everything he could to help me stay on budget while at the same time not being cheap lol. I left with a box of 10 Padron cigars, a lighter/​torch, and a Byron cigar holder which also acts as a cigar hole punch.
This place is beautiful inside!

Wanted to try a different place to smoke cigars or three. Came to Excalibur for the first time on 4÷1÷2016, and was thoroughly impressed. I had heard by word of mouth that this particular place was an «all boys club», Regulars here are very territorial, and that I would be looked at very differently by the same regulars… that was not the case AT ALL.
Tom and his staff are very professional, very friendly, and willing to answer any question you have pairing certain cigars with a good scotch. Gotta admit, I don’t know much about scotch, but, I wound up having two double shots Dalmar Cigar Malt… it was worth it!
Comfy seats, great staff, and the regulars turned out to be really cool. So if you have any reservations about coming to Excalibur, do yourself a favor and give them a try. You won’t be disappointed… I GUARANTEE. (BTW, they also have bourbon, hard root beer, several beers on tap, sodas, water, AND, I wound up purchasing several sticks.)
I’ll be coming back again!

The cigar selection is beyond anything I’ve seen anywhere else in San Diego, and the liquor selection is top notch. Nothing beats a good Scotch and a cigar on a Friday night! The staff are the best, always going out of their way to make sure your experience at Excalibur is enjoyable. I cannot recommend this establishment enough!

My favorite place in town to relax. Super friendly staff. Excellent cigar selection at very reasonable pricing. Great beer and wine selection. What else can you ask for to relax!

This place is awesome! Tom and his crew make you feel very welcome! The atmosphere is amazing and and the selection is as well. I’ve been coming here off and on for 10 years. It’s nice to be greeted by friendly and helpful people after a rough day at work or just anytime. Do yourself a favor, ditch your therapist and come here, you’ll feel so much more relaxed. Awesome place!

Staying at a hotel nearby, I felt like having a nice scotch while having a smoke. Luckily for me, you can do both of these indoors. They had a pretty good selection of scotches, and they even gave me a few small samples of a few of them. The service was solid and very friendly. I highly recommend this joint to anyone who wants to unwind with friendly company.

The cigar I BOUGHT, not smoked, mind you, was from here. The year was 2011. I was almost 19 years old at the time, and it was an Alec Bradley Prensado Gran Toro. Prior to that, it had been mostly Swisher Sweets, if you can call those cigars.
I learned quite a bit about cigars after my first couple trips in. Different seeds, wrappers/​fillers and flavors therein. Not just from the cigar expert on retainer by the establishment, but from the customers who frequented the joint– It’s a place where cigar aficionados congregate and are not shy about sharing their wisdom with a then newbie, such that was, then.
Here I am some 4 years and change later, and I still visit Excalibur every now and then if I want something special or celebratory to puff on.
Their selection of cigars is really great, and more importantly, they keep it fresh in a fabulous humidor room, of which the temperature, and humidity are expertly regulated. You can even have them calibrate your own hygrometer, so you can maintain your cigars properly, if you ask nicely. Large selection of cutters, lighters, and Humidors/​accessories, etc to choose from although they tend to be a little on the expensive side.
Stop on in and have a smoke!

Awesome lounge owned and operated by a very good guy. Service service service is great. Also good crowd, easy to get to. This place has awesome deep leather chairs, hd tv private lounge and the best selection of cigars I have seen. I highly recommend this place. DC

Whenever I am here I feel like Don Draper from that show about Donny Drapes. I always get a smoky scotch on the rocks like Donny’s favorite, he’s my hero and this bar is my hero by proxy.

I was on the neighborhood and I was so thirsty ! If you like intimate place, this is a place for you! It’s dark, you can smoke inside, drink wine and beer. I went outside because I can’t smell tobacco odor but my ice-​tea was very good!

One of the best places to go while in San Diego. Tom did it right. He has a huge humidor with an great selection of cigars. A nice variety of wine, beer and liquor. A large lounge and a membership lounge with multiple TVs. Great atmosphere. A must visit in San Diego.

This is a great place. I have to admit, I’m old school. So there’s another cigar place I like if I’m looking to toke a stogie in the afternoons. It’s got an old timey vibe that fits me better.
This place is more upscale and hip, and has a younger, hipper crowd. But… it’s open later, and has a full bar. Nice selections of whiskeys (although I’m usually ordering a diet soda when I’m there, while my friends get buzzed on the booze).
An amazing selection and huge humidor. Great set up for watching the NBA playoffs. And two different days, I met lots of really interesting people (even though I was with a crew I do a radio show with).
Quite simply, this place rocks. And to put into perspective how much I enjoy it… never once am I tempted to go into the strip club right next door. Seriously. I’m not. No… you gotta believe me. I’m here for the cigars and male bonding, not exploiting tattooed women that are «trying to pay their way thru med school.»
That’s it.

PROS:
–full bar and an interesting way to smoke inside
–large selection of tobacco and booze. (Less of a wine place, and more a whiskey bar)
–attentive staff
CONS:
–quite place. Most high on tobacco watching the game. One or two groups talking, most quiet. (May be a plus for you)
–furniture is arrange for tv watching over socializing
THINGS TO NOTE:
–fits into the shopping centers «gentlemans club» vibe. Large leather arm chairs. Sports on tv. Female staff that socializes. Mostly men in their 40s-​50s. (There’s a strip club in complex.)
CRITIQUES TO MANAGEMENT:
–If you have half a serving of alcohol that a customer orders, just give it to them for free after they reorder.
They were only able to poor half of my beer choice cause they ran out. That’s fine, I ordered something else. I saw my original beer sitting to be poored out and I asked if I could have it (for free). If the customers asks, it’s pretty standard to give it– kinda a sorry for management dropping the ball. The bar tenders response wasn’t rude, but it was very much «wait? You want two drinks? Oh well, if I’m gonna charge you if I give (a half full beer) to you.» In the San Diego bar scene, bar tenders pretty much always give messed up drinks to the customer, especially if they request it because they don’t want to see it wasted.

This place is fantastic. The owner is cool his nephew is a great bartender and knows a ton of really good jokes. I had a blast getting drunk smoking cigars and laughing my ass off. Great place.

By far the best Cigar Lounge in all of San Diego. premium sticks, great selection of Scotch and Cognac, good people, and the hospitality you expect when stepping into a fine gentlemen’s lounge.

I guess they’re closed on Valentine’s Day? I was about to buy my man a cigar today for a last min gift but oh well. I’m pretty disappointed their reviews seem so good I’ll have to update it when I actually buy something here. I hate Valentine’s Day.

Friendly staff, giant walk in humidor with large selection of cigars. Full bar and nice patio if you prefer the outdoor option.

Tucked away cigar bar, that pleasantly surprised us.
Signage was different. Had more of the photo window stickers but works for this area.
It’s surrounded by other shops and restaurants (male focused shopping center).
The barmaid will get you food if you get hungry. Very nice of her.
Very knowledgable manager and great selection. Humidor would make any cigar lover smile.
Not smoke filled at all, so no exaggerated movie mob scene smoke. Ventilated and chill.

Service was great and friendly. huge selection of cigars. only place in SD that serves Premium drinks. Excellent old fashions. $ 20 per drink… not cool. $ 18 for beer bottle of Chimay? not cool

My brother and husband love to smoke cigars. Me? Not so much. But, this place was pretty fantastic even for me, and I’ll tell you why. This lounge is really lounge-​y, comfy leather couches that’s great for multiple small groups, nice air flow so the smoke doesn’t linger in one area. We sat near the door and the air was very breathable. It’s very low-​key with incredibly friendly staff. The cigar selection is extensive. There’s a bar where you can order drinks and I had the Mule. Great drink. Peter was über friendly and had great drink recommendations as well. The cherry on top: Mama Excalibur had made some chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels. She walked around the lounge to offer them to the patrons. Such a hospitable and friendly group of owners.
We will be back again (and will be bringing friends)!

I got a chance to check out Excalibur on my visit to sunny San Diego. This place is a smoker’s dream. Great selection of stogies as well as bourbons and whiskies. The wine selection was pretty impressive as well.
The diversity here is awesome. Everybody here was enjoying their smoke, great conversation, and enjoying the San Diego Chargers game. The seating was great and the location was pretty cool as well. After all, how can you not enjoy San Diego. I would definitely recommend this place. 5-​stars.
