Great service. I have been here many times. Everything was delicious. Thank you, Chef Sung and his team for great food. I love to eat and I think Full Moon is one of the best Japanese restaurants in town. Yummy!!!

Last night I tried Full Moon for the first time, and it will definitely not be my last! In fact I already have another reservation made for next week. The service was superb. The atmosphere was stylish, natural, comfortable, and clean. Last but not least… THEFOOD and DRINKS… I tried the New Moon, Thrid Quarter, Waning Gibous, Garlic Edamame, Ahi Poke, Sesame Seed Ice Cream, Mochi, and a smooth razz fizzzy signature cocktail. Not only did everything taste like a dream… they looked like one too. Wow. Mind blown. Thank you Full Moon. Best sushi I have ever had. New favorite restaurant in San Diego.

Not for sushi snobs. If you think a California roll with extra cream cheese is sushi, then this place is for you. If ambiance and bump’n music is more important than the quality of the food, go to Full Moon. This place is 90% flash and 10% substance. Great for youngsters on their way to the club. Quality is OK for rolls, but double the price of much better places outside of downtown like Sushi Ota. If you’re on a budget, get away from downtown. For top quality sushi in downtown, go to Taka. It’s the ONLY traditional sushi bar in the area.

Thank you again Unilocal community for finding the best sushi in San Diego! This was terrific. Sat at the bar with the sushi chef and that was a treat. Picked fish off of the exotic fish of the day menu. Flying fish, grouper, black snapper. Best toro I’ve ever had as well. And the crispy rice is as good as everyone else posts. Cool spicy tuna on top of a bed of crispy sushi rice. A total twist. I love it. Chef Sung has created something worth savoring and returning to again and again. He clearly loves his craft and we all benefit! #fullmoonsushisd

Food quality is fantastic, the service is slow and inattentive on a Friday night. The prices are a bit higher than usual.

Great on appearance, weak on food. Unfortunately, the four and a half star Unilocal average steered us into this place, but we were disappointed with the food. The salmon sashimi was good, the garlic clams were good; However, the nigiri fatty tuna and fatty tuna roll were disappointing. On the bright side, we enjoyed warm sake and the vibrant patio environment.

Super great Sushi … Great service and reasonable price. I will visit again, loved the selection, make sure to look over the whole menu before ordering, there is a lot more to choose from than just sushi.

What an awesome atmosphere this place has!!! I’ve been in the San Diego area for a year now and am a huge sushi lover. This place met and exceeded my expectations, food and service wise. Food; I’ve definitely had my fair share of sushi in San Diego and this place is beyond first place in my book. The freshness of the fish and sashimi here is proven through the product, you will be blown away by it! Also when sitting at the sushi bar, you can literally watch the chefs make your food and the experience is next to none. Service; The service here is great as well. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out a few rolls that ended up being absolutely amazing! This restaurant has the feeling of upscale dining but the music and décor ad a certain chill and trendy atmosphere here that just makes dinner more fun. And obviously being downtown the prices are a little bit higher but in my opinion I think your really paying for the high quality of fish and not the location.

Honestly some of the best sushi Iv had compared to anywhere. Iv tried nearly everything. All the sashimi is spot on. It’s super fresh, and you can easily tell that they care about the quality they buy from fish markets. Compared to other basic sushi places. You come here for quality not basic. Favorite roll has got to be eclipses and full moon. Each has a really unique flavor that is super addicting. Can’t go wrong with a drizzle of truffle oil on a sushi roll! I can eat there spicy tuna crispy rice all day long! I’m not exaggerating. Tried multiple other places and no other crispy rice hits home. Service is excellent! Always made me feel like Iv known them for a long time. Perfect for a date. Fellas. If you’ve got someone you’re trying to win there heart over with dope sushi, start at crispy rice and work your way up from there.

This place is the bomb! Can’t believe I’ve been in San Diego for over four years and haven’t been here before. The drinks are spectacular and so is the sushi. We started with the edamame, miso egg plant and the clam soup. I don’t particularly like egg plant, but for me, this was a clear winner. Incredibly well developed flavor profile. The sushi did not disappoint either. We ordered a whole bunch of different kinds of sushi and they readily accommodated our request to customize them. None of them disappointed. We ended up ordering fresh uni as well. This was the star of the night. Absolutely phenomenal. highly recommended! I was skeptical initially because I thought it was weird looking, but I couldn’t be happier about having tried this. This was a new revelation. The mochi ice cream was pretty incredible too. Needless to say I’m going to be a regular at this place. Five stars!

Whenever my husband and I are in San Diego visiting Full Moon Sushi on 5th is a MUST! The restaurant is cozy and romantic and the hospitality from all who work at Full Moon is always so friendly and helpful. Even though this last visit we arrived on a very busy weekend evening, we felt so welcomed by our server and our order was placed almost immediately. This is as good as it gets with great company(my husband), friendly service and AMAZING food! The sushi is always FRESH! We love the custom touches to classic dishes that Full Moon offers. We love the extra ‘love and care’ with each piece of sushi that the chef’s puts in to create a work of art that EXPLODES in our mouth. The entire menu satisfies and never disappoints. My husband tried their lamb and noted it was cooked and marinated so well it melted in his mouth. The food is especially good when the weather outside is perfect to dine on the dog friendly patio. We just love visiting San Diego and we love to eat at Full Moon before we make the trek back home. I highly recommend this venue for anyone who enjoy’s great sushi! Thank you Full Moon again for another great wrap to our San Diego venture, til next time! Ciao!

Nothing special. Staff was not overly friendly. did not make an impression with me either way. Sushi chefs did not talk to us(sat at the sushi bar), hostess was disinterested, and our server was polite enough. We ordered the exotic fish platter to share($ 50). I felt like I was eating at a discount all you can eat sushi place for how thin the slices of sashimi were. The mixed drinks were average at best. Atmosphere is trendy but not enough to make up for lackadaisical sushi.

I would give the venue a 5 star. It is a very trendy spot that is fun to hang out at with some friends. The lounge and the bar are actually a cool place to sit. The menu was pretty much all rolls and a few sashimis. Not many options outside of that. We started with the garlic Edamame. They were delicious. A hit of garlic and a bit of spicy. The problem is there are about 6 pieces of Edamame. Like really?! The portion was tiny! We proceeded to get 2 different rolls and a side of rice and a meat skewer. The rolls were very similar to anywhere else. On the skewers there were 2 onion slices and 2 tiny cubes of meat. I felt like I was being put on a diet. Food tasted good but totally not worth the price! Cool ambiance, good food, but not worth the price. Value isn’t on point.

The décor, food, drinks, and service are all awesome. I found this place based on the Unilocal reviews and I really am glad that I chose this place. The sushi is delicious and unique. We really enjoyed all the rolls. I don’t think you can choose a bad one. I definitely want to return.

The hostess was extremely disrespectful. We were polite and asked for a change of order and she actually made back-handed comments. Owner was nice and tried go fix it but that just ruined the experience.

My boyfriend and his mother and I had a really lovely dinner over the weekend here. I will start off with a warning that this place is very expensive, but for a special occasion or a treat, it’s very good. As with every other place downtown, parking can be tricky. But once you’re there, so worth it. The décor is really lovely, although if you’re sat at one of the high-top tables, the chairs can be a little hard to get in and out of(and I’m a fully-able-bodied young adult!). The projector displaying the slideshow images… yeah, I’m not really sure I «get» it. It doesn’t really add anything, but it’s also not distracting because it’s way above eye-level, so you may not see it unless you’re looking for it. Service was outstanding. Our server was Jaris(very sorry if I misspelled his name!), and he was awesome. He made recommendations, was happy to explain the menu, and was very quick with drink refills. Please give that man a raise. Now the food. Probably some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. We had two orders of the assorted sushi and about four different rolls between the three of us. Everything on the menu is excellent and melts in your mouth the way quality sushi should. The portions are a little bit on the small side, so be prepared to order/budget accordingly for your party size and hunger levels. Thanks for a really great experience, Full Moon!

Really huge space and fancy décor and the wait staff is excellent. The food is so amazing too. Really tasty.
The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the value for what you get. Tiny portions with huge prices. I’m guessing they can charge more because they’re in the Gaslamp but I think i’d rather go a little farther out of downtown to get better sushi prices. 16 – 20 dollars for an 8 piece roll. And a full 8 dollars for a simple California roll. That’s kinda crazy.
