I found Gemfix online when I was looking for a ruby for an engagement ring. Many people swore by Andrew’s work, and for good reason. I was still a little nervous at first, purchasing a stone I never got to see in person, but Andrew took the time to describe the stone’s appearance under different kinds of light and the specifics of the cut. I have no doubts I went to the right place for a beautiful stone.

Andrew was absolutely wonderful to work with. I don’t live in San Diego, so I was initially worried about purchasing a gemstone on the internet – particularly as I was primarily interested in Montana sapphires, which invariably color shift.
Once I got on the phone with Andrew, though, my worries quickly evaporated. He described the appearance of several stones in various lights. Then, when I still couldn’t decide between three sapphires in particular, he offered to send me all three (fully insured; I paid for the shipping, but it was very reasonable, considering), on the understanding that I could return any/​all of them that I decided against.
After that, the only difficulty was deciding between such beautiful stones (the cuts are just incredible; far, far better than any other MT sapphires that I’ve seen). I would highly recommend working with Gemfix, whether or not you live in San Diego.

I had decided on a Montana sapphire for my engagement ring and after some research, my fiancé found Gemfix. We made an appointment and met with Andrew to check out his selection of loose stones. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. You don’t feel pressured into purchasing anything with him. My fiancé ended up going back a week later to purchase an unheated cushion cut Montana sapphire. So in love with it! I highly recommend checking out this spot if you are looking for a diamond alternative or just a stone to have set in jewelry.

I found Gemfix online, browsed their extensive selection, ordered just the right stone after some very helpful advice over email, and couldn’t be happier with the experience. I felt very confident with their return policy, but luckily the stone was just right and I didn’t end up needing it. I would highly recommend them.

He was extremely helpful and has a great selection of all kinds of gemstones –at good prices – which are all on display. That makes it SO much easier to find anything you need or want. He was courteous and knowledgeable, and encouraged me to view stones in different lighting (very important to being 100% happy with a gem.) My wife still receives weekly compliments from friends and strangers on the beautiful sapphire purchased from Andrew at Gemfix. He also has a great selection of other stones like emeralds and rubies. If you’re in the market you owe it to yourself and your significant other to stop by!

I found Andrew on Pricescope after researching affordable, precision gem cutters. My fiancée and I made the drive from Vegas to San Diego for a weekend trip and stopped by Andrew’s shop.
We gave him our desired budget, color, and size requirements. He has a nice offering of blue and fancy sapphires and showed us everything he had that met our needs. More importantly, he didn’t try to upsell us.
We narrowed it down to two stones and viewed them under different lighting. Andrew was so helpful! He encouraged us to view the stones near the sunlit window, standing in the dim hallway, under the florescent light, and in the shadowy corner of the room. We finally decided on a lovely violet-​blue, mixed round brilliant sapphire.
Andrew even let us know we could return the stone if we changed our minds. We left very happy with our experience and will order from Andrew again!

Fiancée found gemfix via pricescope forums. Andrew is awesome! He was very easy going, honest, and was helpful every step of the way when we were looking for a blue sapphire for an engagement ring. He’s been in the business for awhile, and he definitely knows his stuff. We initially purchased a sapphire, but returned it later because it wasn’t the color we wanted (I think there’s a 7 day return policy if I’m not mistaken) without any problems. His inventory isn’t as big, but if you’re able to find something you like, you won’t be disappointed with the quality and price. We finally settled on a sapphire and couldn’t be happier!
