They took a deposit of $ 2,000. Signed a contact, and cancelled with less than 30 days notice. They have decided to no longer do any events in the San Diego area. They have promised a check for over 2 weeks, but it has not come– and they are rude on the phone. The food may be great– but something funky is happening– and you cannot count on them. Unfortunately, we aren’t sure how to resolve this and get back the money we paid.

I was at an event last week were the main event in terms of food was supposed to be the Green Truck. Unfortunately they never showed up the rumor was that the truck broke down, but they kept saying they would just have the truck towed to the event. Well needless to say they never showed and they never confirmed that they wouldn’t be there so at 6PM on Tuesday 140 hungry people gathered around… the event hosts swung into action and arranged for food at the Coronado Marriott! I think everyone can understand that things happen, but the way the Green Truck handled was completely unacceptable and unprofessional! Very disappointed! KT

UPDATE: email from Andrea Chavez at The Green Truck — unfortunately no check as promised. Good Evening Darryl, You should receive check within 2 – 3 business days. As truly apologize for the inconvenience on today’s event we would like to inform you that we have issued full refund. For your convenience I have attached a statement showing two separate refund, there will be a refund to your American Express account within the next 2 – 3 business days with the amount of $ 1,823.04 and the balance of $ 1,517.50 will be mailed out to you via check. At this point all I currently need from you is your mailing address to where we should mail check out to. Once again we apologize for the inconvenience today and look forward working with you in the future! Best Regards, Andrea Chavez I hired the Green Truck to cater my event for 140 people on May 6th, and paid in full(signed a contract). They called at noon to say that they were packing the truck, but at 2pm they called back to say that the truck had broken down. My event started at 5pm, and despite multiple calls which they did not respond to, at 6:05pm(with my event ending in 25 minutes) they called me to say that the truck would not be there. I had 140 people and no food to serve them. While the food may be ok, I could never recommend hiring this truck for an event. Even though they promised a full refund, I have not seen it yet.

I have stopped by here quite a few times. And gotta say that I love this little food truck at Hillcrest Farmers Market! On my most recent trip, I had the butternut squash soup. It was delicious. And they have a really good beat and quinoa salad. The salad you can order in two sizes. Which is good so that I can leave room to order something else if I want. If you order their sweet potato fries it ends up actually being fresh sweet potato chips that are deep fried. SOTASTY! i need to explore their menu more. So far each item has not disappointed me. The staff is really friendly. They also offer daily specials so that the menu does not stay the same.

I decided to try this place again only because the owner read my first review and wanted to show that they really do have good food and would remedy the quality issues I had at my previous visit. I believe in second chances so I agreed. I have to say the owner David delivered on his promise. Today I tried the chicken salad sandwich and sweet potato fries. The fries were more like chips but still delicious, they came with a side of beet dipping sauce. I don’t like beets but the sauce was really tasty almost like a mayonnaise. The sandwich was on a toasted bun along with coarse ground mustard which made this sandwich stand out. Some bites were a little dry but adding some of that beet sauce gave it moisture while adding a nice flavor. My friend had the beet and quinoa salad with arugula. I tried a bite and it was very good. I don’t like beets but the freshness of the beets with arugula, feta, quinoa with the lime vinaigrette was quite tasty. It gave me a whole new outlook on beets. Food quality and portions were a much improved I had to share my sandwich and fries with my friend as well as a neighbor at the table with us. I couldn’t finish it all and don’t like wasting food. Sharing is caring. He seemed to enjoy the sweet potato chips/fries. Thanks David for changing my mind about your truck. Good work. .I’ll be back

2.5 stars Every week, Green Truck is near my office and I seldom actually purchase lunch from them because pricing is high for the small amount of food given. I’ve had the Chipotle Cheddar burger, the grilled cheese w/bacon, and the sweet potato fries. The food has been OK, but not worth the price you pay. The items are small and for $ 9 plus tax, so pretty much $ 10, you get a burger or sandwich that leaves you unsatisfied. Portion sizes should be much bigger for the price. I understand that fresh, organic ingredients typically cost more, but really, that much more for a few pieces of arugula in a burger or a few broccoli florets or one slice of bacon? I don’t think so! The burger I had recently was very small and didn’t seem like it was 1⁄3 lb. The beef was overcooked, I barely tasted cheese, and there wasn’t much arugula on it. The chipotle sauce was fine, but if you’re expecting an extra kick, you won’t get it in this sauce. The focaccia bun the burger comes on is really good though. The grilled cheese is pretty good… you can definitely taste the cheese! The addition of broccoli makes me think that I’m eating healthier…(who am I kidding). I liked the grilled cheese and with bacon it even tastes better. But again, for the price and the small portion, I just won’t get that too often. The first time I ordered the sweet potato«fries», I expected fries… nope they are chips! Highly disappointed they were chips. The bright pink beet sauce was OK, not what I was craving though. One of the times I ordered from Green Truck they advertised on their chalkboard that you get a $ 1 off if you purchase a sandwich and sweet potato fries… they didn’t take the $ 1 off, so just make sure that they charge you correctly. Green Truck isn’t worth the price for the portion size, but if you have no other option for food besides the work cafeteria, it’s nice to be able to feel like you are eating healthier every once and a while.

I had the Chipotle Cheddar Burger. I would not recommend it. I’ve tried this place twice. Portions are small. Burger is overpriced. Wasn’t properly cooked all the way. I like a little more to come on my $ 10 burger other than arugula, cheese, and tomato sauce. Not at all filling, was still hungry and grossed out to see uncooked meat. Had to throw half of it away for fear of getting sick. The flavors were bland, nothing wowed me about the part I could eat. Just one note flavor of chipotle. Couldn’t taste the cheese. Argula is horrible on burgers. Stop trying to be so fancy, listen to Jimmy Buffet’s Cheeseburger in Paradise, that’s how you make a burger. Sides are ala carte and also over priced, $ 4 for sweet potato fries. I won’t be eating here again. Two strikes and a walk.

Green Truck just catered our wedding last weekend(5÷3÷14). They did an amazing job! Not only did the cook us up a healthy, filling, and delicious 4 course meal, but they really went above and beyond in their customer service. Communication was excellent and there wasn’t a single mis-step. I highly recommend Green Truck for any catering needs. You won’t be disappointing and the food is much better than other food trucks out there that serve heavy, sup-par food. Thanks again David and team! For reference here’s what we ate: Sweet Potato Chips Thai mango & papaya salad Moroccan Vegetable tagine Duck with curried lentils and orange gastrique Churrasco con chimichurri

A few months back, Smoothie and I ran into this food truck at the Hillcrest Farmers Market. We had the breakfast tacos(I think it was a special that day) and vegan burger. Both were fantastic. Now the truck is coming to my office building almost every Wednesday. Although I can sometimes resist the urge, it got the better of me today! I again tried vegan burger with it microgreens and beet sauce. And I ordered the«sweet potatoes fries» this time for good measure. They didn’t tell me that the fries are really chips, so apparently this is the UK in reverse(where chips are really fries)! Name confusion aside, the chips/fries were seriously orgasm-in-your-mouth-inducing. Wow. And as for the burger, I didn’t miss the meat one bit. What I did miss was the 13+ dollars cash in my wallet(I eschewed the credit card to avoid the additional fee charged by the truck). Not a cheap lunch, but good enough to make it a worthwhile occasional splurge.

I once saw this truck in a Food Truck Event and in the early years by my work place. I guess there wasn’t enough business generated by my area for them to stay. Or the place they go is not walking distance for me. But on this day, I went to my bank which is close to work. And there is the Green Truck in the lot by an area where the Bank’s building has several tables and chairs. It was beckoning me to give them another try. I look over the menu and as I remember, it wasn’t a vast amount of choices but as the name of the truck indicate, they are into organic and healthy type of food. They are not strictly vegetables because they had fish, burger and even the veggie style. But to me, what attracts me is usually something I would normally not make at home. So I went for the burger. Well done because I always want to make sure my meat is cooked thoroughly. They were pretty good,. I also ordered the sweet potato fries(or I thought it was fries, they were chips — handmade). The chips were good but some of it were crispier than others. The food overall was delicious. Pricing about the same as most food trucks. It was different but because of the limited selection, it’s not something I would drive to the same place often to get my fix.

One of my favorite food trucks around San Diego! I randomly decided to try them out at a random block party near Petco Park. And I was pretty amazed at the quality of food and ingredients that they used. My boyfriend and I got the Cashew Crusted Sea Bass and Roasted Pumpkin Tacos, and a Heirloom Beet & Quinoa Salad to share. I’ve never had pumpkin tacos, so it was a very yummy experience. The sea bass was really fresh, and they used zesty ingredients to compliment the delicate fish. Unfortunately, these tasty tacos aren’t on the current menu; but the menu changes throughout the season, so keep an eye out! However the beet and quinoa salad is always on the menu, so give it a try… if you like beets. The quinoa is cooked perfectly, yummy peppery arugula, creamy feta, and the zesty lemon vinaigrette ties everything together nicely. Overall, I loved my experience and I will be on the hunt for their whereabouts!

I had a groupon/living social deal for here, so went and checked it out when it was by my office! It’s a bit healthier than the other food trucks around. I tried the mother trucker without bun, the 3 people that ordered before me all got their sandwiches without bun and I felt compelled to keep the trend up. And an order of their sweet potato chips/fries. The mother trucker is their own veggie patty, and it’s really good cuz it’s not just fake meat or whatever, it’s made with grains and a bunch of other stuff. The beet sauce was interesting, very pink. Haha. Definitely one of the better veggie patties I’ve had(it’s only been a few), this burger was good. Sweet potato chips were ok, not bad but I’ve had better. The truck was friendly. It’s healthy(relatively speaking) and yummy.

«Yes, I’ll have a burger. It’s vegan? Hmmm… I guess I can give it a shot.» Oh, the conversations I have in my own head sometimes. I don’t know why I look down at non-meat but I do. That’s just the way I am. So when the Green Truck was the new option at the Tuesday Food Truck in Torrey Pines, I opted to try them out. Good choice. My «Mother Trucker Vegan Burger» was hot and juicy and loaded with a truckload of flavor. And the hand cut sweet potato fries(more like chips, but let’s not get technical) weren’t greasy at all. The little pot of beet ketchup was bright pink(like Pepto) but was a neat little touch. Everyone in the office breakroom wanted to know what it was! Yummy! Give them a try!

Okay how is it that I’ve not done a review of my great experiences with Green Truck? Perhaps it was because I was in a complete food euphoria. Well, now that their new head chef is Marguerite it’s even more to die for goodies. Warning: only go to Green Truck if you love — not like — but LOVE good healthy grub! Check our their San Diego food menu monthly. It changes because, they are GREEN and that means their menu changes with what they can get on the menu locally. That’s one of the BIG reasons I love this truck. It’s a great date with my hubby on Wednesdays when I can head up to his neck of the woods in Kearny Mesa! Here’s whats happening in February 2013! Berry Rosemary Chicken Salad or wrap, Vegetarian Parikash, Spanish Fish Tacos, the new Beet & Goat Cheese Burger, and more. DELISH!

2 burgers + sweet potato fries for $ 24ish. The burgers were OK — the patty wasn’t too flavorful but the bun is definitely what made it. The sweet potato fries were completely soggy(womp womp). It seemed like they didn’t have the temperature high enough or something. My friend told me that his wasn’t as soggy the last time he ate there so it seems like they have some consistency issues.

A solar-powered cooking oil-fueled all organic eco-friendly food truck? It’s rumored that Captain Planet funded this food truck. Their chipotle burgers aren’t too pretty to look at, but they contain healthy and fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The patties come off as a bit dry, which is a shame because the quality of beef they use is pretty good. Their meat is actually a bit TOO lean for our hero’s tastes — a burger’s gotta have some fat in it to have a juicy consistency and top notch taste. The concept of the truck is great and our hero loves it, but the lunches leave our hero and his friends still feeling hungry after finishing, despite dropping $ 8 on just a burger itself. PROS: — All organic menu with lots of vegan options. — The most eco-friendly food truck ever! CONS: — The menu’s on the pricey side, with most mains coming in at seven or eight dollars and not leaving you feeling full afterward. — Burger patties are a bit overcooked.

It’s not easy being green. On the contrary, it’s *very* easy *eating* Green.(Food truck, that is.) Lunch at the Green Truck was my latest roach coach adventure, and it was an absolute delight. Here’s the details: I kidnapped wifey, and the two of us headed over to the Green Truck, which happens to be parked on the corner of John J Hopkins Dr & General Atomics Ct on Thursdays. At ~11:45am, there was almost no line. Score. The menu has a drool-inducing mix of veggie and non-veggie options made from local and organic ingredients. The packaging is compostable, too. Heck, the truck itself runs on vegetable oil — impressive. Admittedly, it feels less impressive when you realize how big of premium you’re paying for both the organic ingredients *and* the roach coach convenience.(Then again, inflated prices seem to be typical of all food trucks nowadays). Eco-amazingness and prices aside, the Green Truck has some delicious eats. As per our routine, we ordered a few things and split them down the middle. The portions sizes are reasonably generous, which makes them ideal for sharing. The guy taking orders is incredibly friendly, and he’ll cut all the sandwiches into splittable portions if you ask. Here’s the round-up of what we tasted: 1) Heirloom beet salad with quinoa, arugula, and feta. A very light and refreshing starter. Beets are among my favorite veggies, and these beets were awesome. I don’t recall the last time I had beets this sweet and juicy. When mixed with the more starchy quinoa and creamy feta, they became even more delicious. The only thing that I was indifferent about was the arugula — it didn’t have much flavor to me, and seems like more of a filler than anything. 2) Chicken pesto wrap. A fabulous wrap. Sometimes, items called«pesto» have no pesto flavor, but that’s not a problem here. This chicken is smothered with so much delicious pesto that the sauce drips out of the wrap. The veggies were fresh and enjoyable too. 3) Chipotle cheddar burger. Definitely the star of the meal. Who knew that a veggie-centric truck could make such an amazing burger? A perfectly cooked patty, lots of cheese, and a multigrain bun(just to mix it up and make you feel like you’re eating healthy). I could’ve eaten this burger all day long. Yum. Moral of the story? It’s very easy being green at the Green truck, but their purples, browns, reds, and yellows are pretty damn tasty too.
