This place is awesome. It is really not much I can ask for with such affordable price. Of course to some people, this place is too ghetto and beat down. But consider for less than $ 10OTD with stomach full of delicious food, it is seriously a bargain. Their Bun Bo Hue(BBH) is amazing. Pig feet, pig blood jelly, etc. All the authentic goodies a BBH should have is inside. This is one of my top choice for Vietnamese food fix, I’ve been a regular to this place since last year.

The Bun Bo Hue here had an odd odor and flavor. The broth also lacked spice, which was disappointing. The thai tea had a nice, long, black hair floating on the inside that luckily I saw from the side of the clear cup before I drank it. I would not eat/drink from here again. I should have taken a picture but I was literally so disgusted that my boyfriend took it and showed the people working there and we immediately left.

Best bun bo hue in town, tastes very close to the bun bo hue in vietnam! Their banh bot loc & banh nam were also very good! The only down side is that they’re close pretty early.

The mi quang and bun bo hue is delicious. The broth was tasty as heck and thinking about it makes me hungry again. Too bad I live in TX. The parking sucks and you have to park behind the restaurant so we thought we were in the wrong place until we were front of the plaza. The servers were nice and kept our waters filled. Also he made sure we knew there was pigs blood on the soup, which btw sounds scary but pretend it’s firm tofu. It’s so good. I’m pretty sure everything’s good so just try. Don’t let the weird parking discourage you!

Place is pretty dirty, but the food is good. Specialty on Bún bò Hu, you can find all kinds of Bún bò Hu there. Delicious Bún bò Hu.

Best bun bo in town! I live in OC and we drive down to SD for their food! My son loves their banh beo! So much shrimp on top… Their mi Quang is awesome too! They give great portions and comes with lots of meats… Also the vegetables that comes with the noodles soup are fresh, unlike some other restaurants which vegetables were not fresh… I also like their meatloaf and their chili paste!!! So good… I just wish they are closer to me so I don’t have to drive so far to get there! But it’s so worthed… :)

Definitely my favorite place in the area for bún. They are very friendly and give you a lot more meat and veggies for a really reasonable price.

You MUST try their banh canh tom cua(crab and shrimp udon) and banh beo! It’s not as great as it is in Vietnam… but the broth isn’t as watery as others I’ve tried in SD. It’s hearty… comforting…and filling! Banh beo will fill you up as they give you like 10 pieces in an individual order. Oh yeah and they can even make you a whole pot of soup to go(you bring your own pot!) for like $ 35 – 40 depending on the soup. Not sure if you have to call it in first. Awesome! P.S…no shaved ice til the summer months(May and on).

I was in San Diego for the weekend and was carving some bun bo hue. Found this place on Unilocal and saw that it had pretty good reviews. The parking is horrible here though! The bun bo hue was okay but I wish I had more flavor and spicy. Overall, I left with my craving unsatisfied.

. I live in RB so I gotta hit this place up when I’m in the area(which isn’t often). The BBH is consistently good; tastes delicious just like the first time I’ve tried them. The fiancé generally gets the #14 which is the hoai hue rice dish and he says its delicious as well. Parking is a pain in the ass but if you’re down to have some bomb ass BBH then who cares! Can’t wait to visit this place again

Big improvement since the last time I’ve been here! Came here for a quick lunch with the BF and order 2 bowls of BBH. I have to say it tastes so much better than the last time we were here. I’m glad to have given it another try!

Anyone who’s Vietnamese Knows that this is THE place to go to when you’re craving bun bo hue. I’ve been going here for years and the quality is always amazing and tastes like ur grandmas homemade cooking. I recommend getting the banh bot loc too, those things are addicting. The service is definitely a lot better than ur typical Asian restaurant. I wouldn’t say it’s amazing but everyone who works there is very friendly and sweet. The décor inside is whatever but holy moly their restrooms are modern af! I think the restrooms used to be nasty but they definitely fixed it up. Parking sucks. Last time I went was last Saturday afternoon and it was poppin’ Only thing I’d have to add is that I agree with the other people about the msg. It really puts you to sleep. Once I got home from lunch, I literally KOed for 4 hours!!! Omg

Food: The food was good but for some reason it put me to sleep. From the reviews it seems there could be a large amount of MSG but I don’t want to be presumptuous. I may have just eaten too much haha. It wasn’t bad but I prefer my bun bo hue a little spicier. Service: I ordered to go and my food came out really quickly. The employees here seemed relatively young and spoke perfect English, so if you’re not Vietnamese, it won’t be impossible not to order. Parking: Absolutely terrible. It’s in a little plaza with limited parking that appears to have most spots reserved for residents. Comments: Worth a try but I’m not sure if this is the«best spot» in SD. There’s a spot in linda vista that may be better.

Parking is a pain in the ass here! We circled around the whole entire lot and FINALLY a found parking right in back It was a Sunday morning and the wait for 4 people was only about 10 mins. Good size Vietnamese restaurant. We tried their Bun Bo Hue here so many times before and it was ok. A plate of veggies came out that consisted lettuce, mint leaf, bean sprout, lime and chili. Noodles came out and we were turned off by how oily it was. We weren’t used to seeing Bun Bo Hue that oily. Broth was tasteless and heavy of MSG. The small bun bo hue was a true miss. …seems like they ran out and had to make the broth from scratch as it was quite weak… just spicy… Noodle portions were minimal and meat cuts were decent. This place used to be good, but through time, the quality of the meals have diminished. What a shame.

So I’ve been here a few times already. This place is known for their Bun Bo Hue. If you don’t know, BBH is a special noodle soup dish from Hue(a city in central Vietnam). It’s pretty good from what I hear and many reviews tout this place as having the best BBH in San Diego. Funny thing is I have never ordered it. I guess the times I’ve gone, I just wasn’t in the mood for BBH. My wife has tried the BBH and thought it was just okay. She is a tough Vietnamese food critic though because she’s tried a ton of cuisine in Vietnam. I have tried their Banh Beo Chen, Banh Bot Loc, Banh Nam, and Com Hoai Hue. I really liked them all. **Banh Beo Chen are steamed rice cakes topped with ground shrimp, pork rinds, and green onions. They are accompanied by a sweet fish sauce. **Banh Bot Loc are steamed pork and shrimp tapioca dumplings wrapped in banana leaves, also served with sweet fish sauce. **Banh Nam are steamed rice dumplings with ground shrimp wrapped in banana leaves. Of course, served with sweet fish sauce. **Com Hoai Hue includes a BBQ pork patty, fried shrimp, a fried egg, and a crab/shrimp patty served on top of rice. Parking can be challenging to find depending on when you go. Employees were friendly and service was fast. The place could definitely use some TLC, especially the booths, but I’d return if I was craving BBH or steamed rice cakes. 4⁄5 — Food 4⁄5 — Service 3⁄5 — Décor /Cleanliness

«Best place to go for Bun Bo Hue in San Diego» according to my whole family. Get it for there or to go, it’s delicious either way. AMBIANCE: A small little hole in the wall, but there are quite a bit seats and always a wait. If it’s your first time, its possible it’ll be hard to find. Also parking is a nightmare. Spaces are small and spots are limited, you’ll be lucky to find a spot, or you can also just parallel park on the streets. SERVICE: Like any asian restaurant, service isn’t great. A few times we wanted a refill on our water’s half way through our meal and didn’t get any water until we finished and kept asking for it because it seemed, each time we asked the waiter, he would nod his head, then he’s forget and go about his busy way taking orders. So make sure to get what you need when you have the waiters attention while ordering! FOOD: A small bowl of BBH is fairly big, so I always order a #3a-g bowl that’s $ 6.95. I really enjoy their crab/shrimp meatballs, beef, and tendon. The combination of flavors and broth are very rich. The broth is somewhat oily but oh so yummy. The flavors are like no other, i’m certain there is MSG, but that’s probably why it taste sOoOo gOoOOod! The large bowl can feed two! Their other foods are also good, like the banh beo and banh bot loc, but the BBH is the best here. And be warned, you will smell like BBH when you leave.

Not a huge fan of Bun Bo Hue but according to my lovely girlfriend, this is the only spot in SD where you could order a bowl of Bun Bo that would taste like your mom would salved all day in the kitchen to make! Sure, you might be able to get it elsewhere but the broth and flavor won’t be as rich and tasty. My last visit, I ordered the Hoai Hue Com Dac Biet(the works rice) BBQ pork, crab cake, grilled shrimp & an egg. & banh beo Chen for appetizer! Filled with unique favors from the mother land! The place has a very homey feel with Asia decors. The wait staff is super friendly and always has a nice smile! Overall, I love this place and will be back again soon!

If you’re looking for the bun bo hue spot. This is THE place! I’m a big fan of bun bo hue and once you walk into the place, stop and take a deep breath. You will intake all the special smells of what a true bun no hue should smell like! I wasn’t kidding this place is really known for it and it is delicious. The best I’ve had in my entire life, well aside from homemade but this is pretty darn close! The broth is very flavorful and doesn’t taste bland like other places and yes they are not scared with the spice level! They really throw a kick in it! If you really want or is a bun bo hue fanatic like I am. I highly recommend this place. Bön bo hue for you!!!
