Great school compared to my initial elementary school in the Bay. When I first attended Jerabek in the second grade, I was really behind all the other students. They were writing paragraphs, and the most I had written was a sentence. I also hadn’t read any books other than picture books with large print. I quickly caught up though. Students are regularly tested on their reading and writing levels one-on-one with their teachers. In fourth grade students have different math teachers based on competency. All students also take music, where they sing, dance, and learn to play the recorder, as well as other instruments like the drums and xylophone. Each grade performs in a concert for parents. There are many events like this on campus related to the different subjects of study. There is also art corp led by several volunteer parents. Many parents chaperone numerous field trips, such as to the IMAX theater in Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, and the Whaley House in Old Town. Children can participate in extracurriculars on campus, such as the morning mile club, band practice, Spanish lessons, choir, and school government. The cafeteria has a salad bar. The teachers are very nurturing at Jerabek in particular and there is a liberal bent. One of my fondest memories of Jerabek was the day everyone in the 4th grade shared their heritage with the class as well as a dish from that country(The students are predominantly Caucasian). Also, I was recently reviewing my old schoolwork and noticed that a large percentage of assignments were pro-environmental in theme. And we learned about Native Americans every year. It was somewhat redundant. Jerabek is a cute and safe school in a highly family-oriented neighborhood. Just the school Jerabek itself is a large reason why many parents move to Scripps Ranch.

Awesome school… excellent highly quaified teachers… outstanding students. School programs(music, art, et cetera) are out of sight. Proud to be a part of this school.
