Julien Cantelm

Julien is one of San Diego’s top drummers and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him in the jazz trio setting since 2010. He’s mastered a wide variety of styles from jazz, Brazilian and Latin rhythms to funk and drum & bass. He’s got an awesome sense of groove and the reason I love playing with him is because he is so musical and interactive.
We’ve taught several clinics together including CSU Summer Arts in Monterey. Julien is everything you can ask for in a great teacher. He’s extremely knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and he knows how to give constructive criticism in a way that motivates students to excel. To top that off, he’s one of the most humble and kind people I know.
If you’re looking for a drum teacher, do not pass up the opportunity to work with Julien.
