Kirby Vacuum

This review if for my Kirby G5 vacuum, not for this particular dealer.
I purchased my vacuum 20 years ago and have used just about EVERY attachment that has come with it! The attachment I use THE MOST is the zip brush. This attachment is studly at getting pet fur off furniture, carpets, stairs and I love it for my cars. Where most other vacuum hose attachments don’t do a thorough job at getting that deep down dirt out of your car mats and carpet, I found the zip brush does the best job (even my neighbors have come over to borrow my vacuum for their cars!)
Some things I do not like about the vacuum: It’s very heavy!; The wands crack, therefore don’t stick together as well, so plan on replacing the wands a few times; my vacuum, when I have it trailing behind me while using the hose and wand to vacuum my hard wood floors, it doesn’t follow behind me very easily and falls over.
Overall, I have been very pleased with it. Never had any mechanical issues until now (20 years later) but it’s just for the «drive shaft» — When I have it in «drive mode”(not neutral) it sticks and is jerky, Hence I will be taking it in for service now.
I know it’s an expensive investment, but my Grandparents had one their entire life, so that’s why I knew it was a good investment to make for us when we purchased our new home.

we purchased out VERY EXPENSIVE Kirby one year and one month ago. It has been used once a month and never cleaned a carpet… other than their demonstration. Today the motor quit. So, let me get this straight… for $ 1000 you can expect 12 uses and don’t bother with the carpet cleaning.
Hmmmm! I am thinking, what does that say?
