Went here with my UTA friends for comfort food here. I really love the beef noodle and other dishes here it tastes pretty authentic and service is reasonable. Normally doesn’t have too many people l, which is a shame bit better for people like me who like this place alot though :)

My UTA friends recommended me to this place and it is super good! Legit Taiwanese food for reasonable price. This is the best sesame cake(蛋捲餅) I’ve had around SD

One of the only Taiwanese restaurants in town. It is authentic. The menu is huge and distracting especially if you’re not Chinese. I would highly recommend coming with a Chinese/Taiwanese friend so they can tell you what to order. The beef rolls are really good, beef noodle soup, minced pork and rice are all delicious. The stinky tofu isn’t very good, but that’s to be expected. The food sometimes takes a little longer than usual. Service is decent and they are nice enough ;)

I don’t know what happened to this branch, but the food is just awful, from the dishes that I selected. I had the combination appetizer(pig ears, tofu, and peanuts), and the guy just DROWNED the dish with sauce. Tasted like I was eating saltwater to be honest. I also ordered their special sesame noodles, and that too was just way too damn salty and had barely any sesame taste that I wanted. The noodles were also very starchy and not pleasant. I liked the beef roll, that at least they got right. I’ve been to other Liang’s Kitchen(Cupertino), and the food is much better over there. Don’t go to this restaurant. No wonder this place is always half-empty.

It’s ok. No waIting in peak time. Recommend the fried turnip egg wrap /蘿蔔乾蛋餅.(P.s. The smell there is a little bit not good)

I’m a regular who stops in almost 2 – 3 times a week for lunch. I get the exact same thing every time. Most of the staff knows my order. I arrive today and let the server know I’d like chicken noodle soup, he says for here? I say yes. 15 minutes later he comes and asks me if I’m ready to order. Needless to say I was shocked he didn’t understand that I ordered already. I repeat my request for chicken noodle soup. He says he doesn’t think they serve that… I point it out on the menu and circle chicken noodle soup, without circling the rice noodle option. He beings me the rice noodle option, and then I inform him that is the wrong one, be brings the menu I circled, I point out that there are two options. He says no, there is only one option. I was so frustrated that I just left that at point. Lunch break is long overdue, no food.

WOW I don’t need to go back to OC or 626 area for amazing beef noodle soup anymore. My favorite beef noodle places has been A&J(Irvine), Bull Demon King(Diamond Bar), Chef Hung’s(Irvine), and Bobee 5(Rowland Heights). After trying Liang’s Kitchen, I would say A&J and Liang’s Kitchen are my top favorites now. Like A&J, you mark the quantity or number of that certain dish you want with a marker and then just hand the paper to a waiter/waitress. I ordered the beef tendon noodle soup with the thick hand made noodles. OMG I’ve never had noodles that thick and wide before. It actually tastes awhile to chew, but it was so good! I like how the noodle soups are served in a bowl that looks like a mixing bowl lol yea the noodles itself took up half the bowl. It was so fun to eat. The beef and the soup were amazing as well. I usually can’t drink a lot of the soup because it’s usually super salty, but the soup base here was so good that I could actually drink most of it. It was definitely super filling and satisfying. It was also only about $ 8 so it was really worth. I can’t wait to come back!

Okay so if you want an authentic hole in the wall you found it! I’ve only tried their soup but the Shanghai wonton soup was delicious and perfect to match the lame ass overcast weather outside! The broth was very flavorful but not in that overpowering MSG way! They were pretty liberal with their wonton portions and the size was perfect for a mouthful of Shanghai juicy wonton meat. English is not spoken so well but they are very accommodating and the food was fast and hit the spot. For the prices I will be back!

I used to like this place a lot until today. The service was below average Their food doesn’t taste as good as before. I came for stinky tofu and ox tail noodle but both item were out. I finally settled for the tender fat noodle bowl. It was ok but very greasy than usual, until i saw 2 hair inside… Yuck! It will be my last time.

Liang’s Kitchen is one of the few Taiwanese places we have on Convoy… and it’s honestly such a big disappointment. I’ve only had one thing here from their establishment and that’s their beef noodle soup. What’s cool about this place is that they give you the option to use«freshly» made fat noodles instead of the typical thin noodles you typically get. I say«fresh» because i’m not too sure if it’s really fresh or not because of how they maintain their restaurant. The seats are somewhat dirty and dingy, the menus need to be wiped, and tables had stains on them… In addition, service was really weak. We were neglected a few times for extra water and the check. The beef noodle soup lacked a lot of flavor. The broth felt pretty weak as it didn’t offer the earthy, comfortable feel as it should provide. The few pieces of beef also has the texture of rubber — way too overcooked.

Been here four times now. Had the beef and thick noodle dish once dry and once before ln a spicy soup. Seriously good food! Hot spicy wontons also delicious. Deserves to be much busier. Very few non-asians come here maybe in part because the menu is not easy to decipher.

Let me just say first the food itself is about a 3 star. The noodles here are honestly not bad. The broth is flavorful, although a little too oily, and the meats are cooked well. Why the 1 star? Horrible horrible service. We were a table of 6 friends coming in for dinner. The place was not busy at all, with only 2 other tables still working on their food. When we were ready to order, no one came by our table. My friend waved at the waitress who was walking towards us, got completely ignored! I raised my hand super high and held it there the second time, still got ignored. There is no effing way that she could not see that, I mean the restaurant was not big at all, she was maybe like 15 feet away from our table. Eventually, we finished our dinner and was about to pay. We wanted to do separate checks but the guy at the counter said 6 credit cards were too much. We were like, Okay, how about 3 credit cards we will just pair up. The guy said, no, the people who ordered the same dishes has to pay together… WHAT? After much arguing, we had to end up paying with 1 card. If you don’t want to pay for the extra credit card processing fee, just straight up tell us, don’t go in circles and confusing us! He actually cussed at us in Chinese, which some of us understood, that we were a bunch of bubble heads! Just Wow! I mean I understand some Chinese restaurants can have less than desirable service, but this was just outrageous. He was an old asian man with grey hair, avoid at all cost! Makes your dinner experience shitty as hell!

Came back here a second time because I fell in love with the beef tendon noodle soup. I love the wide noodles, and the tendon is by far the softest tendon I’ve had anywhere! There are some pieces that you could literally swallow without even chewing! My only disappointment is that they weren’t as generous with the tendon as they have been in the past. That being said, you’ll still get a filling, delicious meal for under $ 10. Atmosphere is the typical family Chinese restaurant, so it definitely doesn’t have that young, trendy feel of many other restaurants on Convoy. If you can squash that desire to only be seen dining at the hottest, newest establishments, then I think this place is worth a try!

A quick alternative for an asian place in convoy if the other places are too crowded. Being right next to Tajima, parking may be tricky so you may need to go to a different lot of park on the street. When we walked in on a Saturday at 6pm, we were quickly seated in a ¼ full restaurant. Ordering is kind of neat since you order on a marker-erasable menu. I got the beef noodle soup with thick noodles where as my friend got the spicy beef and tendon noodle soup with regular noodles(you pay 0.50 more to make it spicy). Our bowls came out really quickly in these nifty silver bowls. We had to wait 10ish minutes because the soup was burning hot. The food itself was standard. Nothing stood out to me but I had a pleasant time slurping up the broth, and chewing the thick noodles. I will say the meat was a bit on the tough side, which was pretty disappointing. Overall, not a top tier place in Convoy, but definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a new place or if other places are crowded.

Liang’s Kitchen is a decent place to get a beef noodle soup. I always leave full but they tend to make things a bit more salty than I am used to. I’ve only ever gotten the beef noodle soup with the thick noodles and I have to say that it is just okay. It’s doesn’t «WOW» you but it isn’t a waste of money, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have gone back. Liang’s Kitchen is a good place to eat beef noodle soup on a cold day and a cheap place to catch up with a friend.

Liangs used to be one of my favorite spots in San Diego, but the quality of the food is always a hit or miss now. It’s a good spot to go to if you’re in a hurry, but not if you’re looking for good quality Taiwanese food. The environment also doesn’t feel very clean, but it’s bearable. Try the pork rolls and dry beef noodles if you decide to try Liangs out.

This is located in the same plaza as Tajima. My sister and I were originally going to eat there but when she saw Liang’s Kitchen, she literally cried tears of joy. Unilocaler’s, if you are trying to eat here, just make sure to be prepared to fight for parking. I am not sure how packed Liang’s Kitchen gets but they do offer two designated parking spaces in front of them. When walking in, It looks and feels like any authentic Asian place, old and grimy. Beware though, I walked into the restroom and I found a nice surprise in the toilet, gross. Anyway, onto the food: –Scaillion(green onion) pancake: This dish I love getting, if you’ve been to other Taiwanese restaurants, this is like a quesadilla minus the cheese. It’s such an addicting dish to eat because it’s so light and flaky. –Beef noodle soup with tendon: Yuummmmm!!! You can truly never go wrong with this dish! Great thing about Liang’s Ktichen is that they handmade their noodles! Their noodles is a thicker rustic authentic style that gives such a good bite. Their broth is pretty darn good as well. For all you Unilocaler’s that’s ever had Vietnamese Bun Bo Hue(BBH) it’s similar to that minus all good that spicy goodness that BBH has. Pro’s of this dish, they give a good amount of cabbage and meat! –Shanghai wonton: Nothing memorable about this dish. It was decent but lacked flavor. Would I order this dish again, not really. I think the one that everyone talks about are the wontons with the chili oil. If I do get the chance to visit this place again, I think I would have to try that one. –Taiwanese cabbage: Sorry Unilocaler’s, I forgot to take a picture of this, but it’s good simple pickled veggie plate. Mainly all cabbage and carrots. Delish!

First of all, parking is terrible, but luckily there was a lot of open spots on the street. Liang’s has two or three parking spots? But once we walked in there was only two other people together there. Go figure. Sat down, and noticed that the wall behind us was all beat up and had chipping paint and looks like someone beat it with something. There was also no A/C. The door was held open with a chair and there was one single standing fan on top of the counter that wasn’t even enough to reach the whole room. Maybe 30% of the room. We were given two menus, another menu with the prices, and a marker. Naturally, we just thought that you would mark what you wanted on the menu with the prices because that’s what the format makes it seem like. The marker had very little ink, not even legible. There I sat thinking, «Oh, no. Now they won’t know what we want and we’re gonna starve.» Don’t know what the marker was for, but oh, well. We ordered the beef noodle soup, spicy beef noodle soup and beef pancake roll. The beef noodle soup was good. The beef was tender and just had the right amount of fat, but some pieces were harder than others. The boyfriend got spicy beef noodle soup and that was pretty good. I did notice upon trying both of them that the taste of the broth is totally different. Even if it’s the same soup and just a spicy variation, it tasted nothing alike. Also, my boyfriend’s had more beef in his(sad face). The beef pancake roll had a nice crispy to it and it had a nice amount of beef, but the flavor wasn’t enough for me. I liked the beef pancake roll in Alhambra better. Let me start on the service: there was none. Waitress took our order, gave us water, and she was never seen again. The guy who brought out our food set it on the table and never said a word. He then sat behind the counter and proceeded to walk around and didn’t even bother to check on us, even if we were the only people there. We finished our food and didn’t exactly know how it worked for them. Should we go up and get our check? Should we just wait here and see what happens? Should we just make it seem like we’re done and give it as a cue to have our check? We sat there for a good while, and nothing was done. I still had some leftover beef rolls and wanted to take it home, and since we weren’t getting the attention that was needed my boyfriend stood up and we got our own containers. That’s when the guy finally stood up just to give us our check. Food is decent, customer service is terrible. Don’t know if I’d come back. Maybe, maybe not.

Not a bad lunch spot on Convoy. I was worried I wouldn’t get a seat at this restaurant, but Tuesday 12pm, it was empty! Only myself and 2 other customers. I got the pork chop rice bento box. It was pretty A-OK. Nothing spectacular but it filled me up. I like the variety of Taiwanese lunch boxes. Came with ground pork topped dome of rice, sauteed cabbage and carrots(a bit salty on some bites, but overall not bad), half a stewed tea egg, and some pickled mustard greens for $ 7.99. I also got a Love’s milk tea for $ 3. Total bill was $ 11.79 before tip. Overall, this wasn’t a bad meal, but it’s far from the best Taiwanese I’ve had from restaurants in Silicon Valley, Irvine and LA area. I’d return to try their noodle soups.

Mmm nothing like hearty Chinese food. While there were lines out the door of usual restaurants in Convoy, Liang’s had plenty of seating and some parking and is honestly just as good as a lot of the other places depending on what you order. The service isn’t always the most attentive but the place is clean. You must order the beef noodle soup($ 8) and beef scallion pancakes(~$ 8) when you’re here! There’s a reason why everyone gets this — they are both AMAZING. The broth in the beef noodle soup is soo flavorful and the beef is fatty and tender. Also get the wide hand pulled noodles instead of the ramen! The beef scallion pancakes are very filling and savory. We also tried to wonton soup(~$ 8) which was just okay. I found the broth to be pretty bland in comparison to the other dishes. Overall get the beef noodle soup and beef scallion pancakes and you can’t go wrong!
