Freddie is the best! He has been a smiling face for over ten years and has made the Magic Market better each year. The sandwiches are a perfect compliment to what may be the best beer selection in all of Pacific Beach.

Tried to buy a $ 1.19 pack of m&m’s here with 20. didn’t work. Then if you use a credit card you get the 50 cent debit card fee??? Which by the way most real businesses now days don’t pass on to the customer. Its rude and unacceptable .So I left the m&ms cuz he doesn’t have enough business in a 12 hour work day to give me change for a stinkin pack of M&Ms guess I won’t be going there anymore! thanks for passing on your ridiculous work ethic to me when i just wanted a treat. and thanks for being you. Least now I know where NOT to go to buy snacks in pb.

If I could give the Magic Market 100 stars, I would! After 13 years of living down the street, I still frequent this awesome store at least every other day, however, it is more like daily, as they provide anything you might need. The best part is the friendly, welcoming smiles that I receive when walking in. The Magic Market and their family are true gems. Thank you for being there. I love you all very much, and am extremely grateful to have you as my neighbors and dear friends. :)

lunch for me is almost always a sandwich I can eat at my desk so I have tried every sandwich place around here. I keep going back to the little locally-owned place because of their bread. They use their own house made bread and it’s fantastic. You can get any kind of basic turkey, ham or roast beef sandwich here but ask for what’s on special, it usually comes with a cup of homemade soup or potato salad.

I have lived in PB for about 5 years now and am sadly moving away… Without a doubt the thing that I will miss the most is MAGICMARKET! In a time when its hard to afford a small business anywhere, they not only run a local corner market with everything,(including toilet paper)… but do it with competitive prices. Their wine & beer selection is excellent. The deli is fantastic! Personally, I think the real Magic there is the people who own and run it. They are friendly to everyone and quickly develop a report with their return customers. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone over and asked for something ridiculous, and magically it appears. I will miss this place profusely and I truly wish there was a Magic Market on every corner, but I doubt it could ever be reproduced. :) P. S. Mike S. is either a liar or an a**hole because if he’s shopped there as many times as he claims he’d know that they would go out of their way to be as helpful as possible in every way to anybody… with the possible exception of huge jerks. And if he is so petty, that he has enough free time to get pissed off and go out of his way to complain about $ 1 worth of roast beef, who cares.

No stars. They wouldn’t sell me a quarter pound of roast beef. They said it had to be half a pound. i only need a quarter to keep it fresh. Ridiculous business model. Ill go down the street. Good luck with your old beef that will eventually spoil. Such good management thinking of the bottom line. I used to come here often, but I won’t be back.

This place is awesome! Best staff, friendly, funny, and really nice! I love coming here and make my beer and cig stop. Oh and they have Deli!!! They make really good sandwiches. You won’t regret it. If you want a six pack of beer, you know that magic market got you. Freddy and George are the best.

I’ve been living right around the corner from Magic Market for a little over a year now. It takes me two minutes to put on a pair of flip flops and make it through the entrance from my place. This is the definition of convenience. Whenever I enter the store I’m met with a pleasant greeting from the cashier or ladies working behind the deli section(which I’ll get to later) at the front. It’s a family run store, and they are always polite, regardless of how ridiculous the items are that you’re buying. I’ll admit, I usually only go in to buy a 6 pack of beer or a bottle of Cabernet. This leads me to my favorite part. Magic Market offers up a robust selection of craft beers from local micro brews like Ballast Point, Stone, Coronado Brewing Co., etc. The wine selection is located in the back of the store and it doesn’t disappoint. I tend to go with their middle of the road Cabernet. It hasn’t failed me yet. It’s J. Lohr in case you really wanted to know. Aside from the booze, you can find your typical 711-like items. There’s also that deli section I eluded to earlier. They carry Boars Head deli meats/cheeses and they also do breakfast sandwiches. You aren’t going to get a gourmet meal here, but the quality of sandwiches here definitely surpass some crappy hot dog that’s been rolling on a heater for 9 consecutive hours. Overall, Magic Market is an average convenient store. However, when you include the beer and wine selection, it becomes slightly above average. Even though I’m drinking an ice cold Levitation Ale from Stone Brewery as I write this review, I assure you, I AMNOT under the influence.

Very nice family run market. Great sandwiches. Good prices. They have a little of everything so I find myself skipping the hustle and bustle of the grocery store & picking things up here.

Although I’m sure the people that work here are great and all… I’ve been coming here for a while now, recent events have turned a negative light on to magic market for me. This place is really conveniently located for me, and has a decent variety of food/household products/alcohol and they have their own little deli section near the front that makes sandwhiches and alot more. It’s not the cheapest of all little liquor stores/markets but it’s the definitely the most magical… I went in for a bag of chips(«DIRTY’S», BBQ flavor), a gallon of water and a juice. As I got to the register the man behind the counter said«I think those chips are expired…» as he reached into my bag of chips and grabs half. I was kind of shocked… he still charged me full price. and chuckled in my face… good job. in conclusion, I would prefer not to return. If I do, it’s probably for 99c toilet paper.

I love Magic Market!!! Freddy and George you are legends — friendly, helpful service with a smile, always. This place has everything you need and great Boar’s Head sandwich deals which include chips and sandwich made with love for only $ 6.99! Zico coconut water at only $ 1 beats most supermarkets. Best of all is the wine cave in the back which Freddy stocks himself, great for popping by when you’re headed out for a BYOB someplace nearby or just for shits and giggles at home. Beer selection is also great and everything reasonably priced. Well done Magic Market!!! Peace

I thought had all the ingredients I needed to make Spanish Paella… but I was wrong! Imagine grocery shopping twice already and then prepping the food all afternoon just to realize you forgot a crucial ingredient… A short phone call and a 2 minute walk down the street… I had my missing ingredient. Thank you MM! A truly magical place :)

As far as liquor stores I have no complaints and I feel like I usually get a smile when I come in. Beer is typical prices by the beach, always more expensive then inland. I come here for beer and the morning naked juice.

7 – 11 can go to hell. Freddy and his family are our family. Family dammit! This place is down the alley from my house, so needless to say, it’s been our haven for all things essential: beer, smokes, and yes, emergency toilet paper runs. I actually feel good about paying my sin taxes at the Magic Market. I walk in, select my sins of choice, sally up to the counter, where Freddy is there to make me smile and absolve all of us sinners… God bless you, Freddy. God bless you Magic Market. One final thought, how about beer delivery?
