Came across this shop while taking my kids to a birthday party in Mission Hills. I’ve never seen a place like this. I was surprised at the array of items. Small price and pieced items and then some really high-end pieces of furniture. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of furniture and selection of unique items at the lower price point. My Son wanted this brass door knocker. So we have it on his bedroom door and my Son was also impressed by the ropes they have in the yard. The lantern lamps are stunning. I couldn’t leave without one. Yes pricey, but you pay for quality. This is not TJ Max or Tuesday morning, I expect this piece to be a staple in my home for years to come. They do custom work as well. I was asking about some of the furniture pieces and they mentioned the custom pieces of furniture they’ve made. Their stuff is one of a kind pieces and looks high quality. The brothers were happy to help me pick out a lantern and discuss price options. There were very straightforward and knowledgeable. I took their card and told them I would be back. So cool to finally have stopped in this store. I’ve seen it off the freeway for years, but wasn’t sure how to get there. Just my lucky day that I drove down their street on San Diego Avenue looking for that birthday party.

Went there today and its a REALLY cool store that has, unlike a prior review indicated, a good selection(at least when I went). It’s pretty much 100% nautical items so if you’re not into that then this isnt the place for you(evenso I think most would at least say its a neat shop). Lots of lighting, nets, bouys, oars, maps, and other cool decorative items, and some other more expensive stuff. The only minor drawback was some of the smaller, less expensive stuff, and a lot on the upper floor, wasnt priced. I also would have liked the guy sitting at the desk to come out and see if I needed any assistance, and even try to sell me something(he asked as I was walking by his office). Based on his business card I grabbed off a counter he does Real Estate and I think hes one of the owners. Maybe too busy w his other endeavours;). I didnt buy anything but will in the future, and when I have more time to spend there.

I’ve been eyeing this place for quite some time and was so excited to come in and finally check it out. The theme in my house is nautical so I figured it would be the perfect place to check out. Granted, they do have really cool stuff, but wasn’t able to stay for very long and check everything out because the employee drinking the beer referred me to the consignment shop down the street, and to ebay for knock off décor because he assumed I could afford anything in his shop. I was so offended that I left. Its such a shame because I don’t mind dropping bills if I feel the piece is worth it. But the customer service was so bad, that I’ve decided to not give this place the time of day.

This place is one of a kind! nautical antiques are a rare specialty. this place creates and recreates furniture on site at their underground wood-shop. I went in there to create a ‘nautical atmosphere’ for my home and was helped out by the Maidhof family themselves. A family, small business, is something rare these days and I highly appreciate the history behind this incredible authentic store. Anyone looking for nautical products should come check this place out. Its a beautiful sight to see. :)
