Solid taco truck fare. But not as good as El Prieto up the street.

Fav dish — Tacos de Pescados(fish tacos) I guess this taco truck has been here a long time and I haven’t checked it out. So sad though becuase once I tried it, I come here at least 3 – 5 times a month for lunch. They only sell mariscos(seafood). Shrimp, Marlin, fish, etc. Their prices are pretty good too. My usual is the fish tacos(breaded fish) $ 1.50 ea or the shrimp tacos(breaded) $ 2.00 ea. Three good things I like about this taco truck. 1st, the food is good. For the price, its really good. 2nd, the price is right on and they don’t charge tax. Got 3 bucks on ya? Well its as good as 2 fish tacos =) 3rd, its in a convenient location to my work. Yeah, a block away from the 905 border. One note though. Be prepared to learn food truck Spanish. They don’t speak English but they will understand your hand signals. If you wanna eat like me, just toss up a peace sign and tell em «Dos tacos de pescados y salsa crema par llavar por favor» :)

This taco truck is still here, and it’s the easiest way to Mexico without actually crossing the border. If you’re a fan of Mexican street food, or willing to give it a try, this is the most-authentic Ensenada street food north of the border. Take the new I-905 to the Otay Mesa exit, the last before the Mexican border, and turn right twice to reach the street they park on(just down from the Comfort Suites driveway). There are typically four or five other people standing around eating tortilla chips from a giant bin and waiting for their orders. The first time I stuck with the basic«camarones tacos»(small shrimp lightly battered and deep-fried). They came topped with pico and a creamy sauce. The corn tortilla was fresh, and they had plenty of condiments out to dress things up. After reading another review here, I tried the camarones enchilados, and was in food HEAVEN! The shrimp were in a spicy, creamy sauce that was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Seriously. Their hours have expanded, and now they’re here for breakfast until about 5pm.

I was excited to be the very first reviewer of El Guero Mariscos, the taco truck that hides on Otay Center during lunch hours. I was shocked to find someone else with the first review stamp! I’ve been here numerous times, but never thought to review it – but here it goes. Regardless of first review status, this is one of the best Mariscos places in all of San Diego, and it’s funny that it’s mobile. Check out the photos! It’s TJ style. You walk up and order what you want from the cooks and choose if you would like to eat on the spot or take it to go. They typically ring you up first if it’s to-go, or if you aren’t a regular. The quality and taste is astounding. So much flavor and awesomeness from one little truck! I am sure many of you will never try this place because it’s so out of the way, and not many people know about it, but if you ever find yourself on the streets of Otay Mesa, check this little hidden gem out – and believe me, sometimes it’s parked between trucks and you won’t see it unless you’re driving down the street. They’re usually there from 11 – 2PM. I bet they make a killing on their awesome tacos. I usually get four tacos because they’re so good. My personal recommendation is for the Camarones – or shrimp tacos. The fish tacos are pretty damn good, but it’s been hit or miss for me.

This is not a restaurant, it’s actually just a taco truck that parks in the same place every day. The shrimp tacos are AMAZING. Be sure to order the camarones enchilados and the camarones gobernador con todo. The tacos are three bucks each. Unless you want soda, bring your own drink; they don’t sell anything besides soda. They’ll give you a plastic plate – just pull the plastic bag off of it when you’re done and hand it back. Dear God, these tacos are simply the BEST in San Diego – a hella long way to drive though – but absolutely, without a doubt, worth it.
