This is my go to spot mostly because it’s literally 2 blocks from my house. All I’ve ever gotten is the chimichanga but it’s been good to me so far. Although, my compares have sampled their California Burrito & tacos and I’ve heard no complaints so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Just had the california burrito. Not bad, but nothing special. Good size and price didn’t skimp on the meat. Salsa not hot enough.

So I’d say this place is between a 3.87 and a 4.13. I got the California burrito and it as super good. Would get again :)

I have been going to this taco shop for about 3 years, They are consistent– consistently polite and produce good food. The california burrito is my favorite, they put potatoes instead of fries, which I love as a steak and potato girl. I also love spice and their hot sauce is perfectly spicy(probably too spicy for some) but it is good because then you don’t have to use as much and can still taste the delicious food.

Tried their carnitas chimichunga. The carnitas alone was nothing to write home about, but the presentation was just beautiful. A massive burrito with a perfectly golden fried tortilla, and it comes with refried beans, sour cream and guac! Along with the fantastic salsa roja that comes with the complimentary chips, all the extra ingredients really brought everything together. Also, it was almost more food than I could eat for less than $ 10. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu.

I love this place I always come here when I want Good Affordable Mexican Food. Mauricio’s has always been very kind to me and my family. No matter who was working. Their food has always been very good. We love their breakfast sandwiches and bacon burritos. When it comes to lunch or dinner we can’t help but have a California burrito and carne Asada fries. We might switch it up and have pollo Asada fries l can do that here because all the food is great! Thanks for being here.

One of my favorite local taco shops in San Diego. Cannot go wrong with the California burrito. Or if you want to save a couple $ the rolled tacos are awesome and inexpensive. Definitely a big enough menu for all types of Mexican food and burrito lovers.

Love the California burrito! Affordable. Mauricio and the staff couldn’t be nicer. Head over and support a local business on the Avenue.

We were doing laundry next door so decided to stop in for breakfast. We both got burritos. It was great that they put whatever I wanted on it, they didn’t mind me straying from the menu. They weren’t expensive at all and were super tasty. My only gripe is that is was hot hot hot inside. No AC and it was a hot day and we just left the hot laundromat.

I was deciding what my last meal should be in San Diego before I headed home, and ultimately decided I need some good Mexican food to hold me over on the 4 hour flight back to Chicago. The place itself isn’t anything spectacular but they do have a good number of tables. They also have a small parking lot outside, but don’t expect to get a spot if it’s busy inside. I recently found out that I love California burritos and was thinking about getting that, but I saw someone eating a chimichanga(basically a fried burrito) and knew that was what I needed. the order came out pretty fast and there are complimentary chips and salsa if you dine in. As for the chimichanga, I can only say I kinda knew what I was getting myself into, but really I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. The thing was pretty large and I could barely eat more than half. It was jam packed with meat! It comes with sides of sour cream, guac, and beans. I was a bit sad it was too hot to eat it with my hands like a regular burrito, but I was still highly satisfied. It was really good to try and I really liked it, but it was a little bit too much. I’ll probably get regular burritos in the future, but if I’m feeling it, I’ll have a chimichanga come my way.

On a burrito tour and I got a Cali Burrito here. Carne was BOMB and fries were on point. My only head scratcher was that there was sour cream INSTEADOF guacamole in it. I don’t think a burrito can truly be called«Cali» unless there’s avocado in it(without having to pay extra to put it in here). They also only do potatoes in their Cali burrito and charged me extra to substitute French fries in it. Probably best if they just call it a carne asada burrito with potatoes and sour cream. Other than that the service was awesome. Free chips and salsa if you eat there. Not sure if I’ll be back though.

This place right here is the REALDEAL. Yes! Now I know Mexican food and taco shops and there are quite a few that are good, but only at a few items on the menu… booo! They don’t skimp you on the ingredients or flavor here. After reading the reviews and biting into my carne asada burrito, I am convinced that everything on this menu is good. If you’re one of those healthy folks with a «cheat day». Homie… this is the spot. Enjoy! This is the place you want to bring your out of town guest whom you don’t want to disappoint, who has heard that San Diego has the best taco shops. Yes, yes, yes folks. Forget«taco shop». Let’s call it a taco shoppé because unlike most, after you order they kind of wait on you and bring you chips and salsa, which is nice. I could have drank that salsa by the way… yum! The staff is super friendly too. There’s a patio, but it lacks shade. We started out there but moved indoors because it got too hot. Umbrellas would be a good investment for them. Bathrooms are for customers only and they’re located in a hallway with a screen door, outside of the restaurant. You must ask them for a key to access it. There’s a little shared parking lot, but like many places in North Park, you’re lucky if you score a spot in it. Street parking is the alternative. What more can I say? This place is too legit to quit. Mauricio, we love you… yes, we do.

came back dined in with #14: pork and salsa verde, and their flan. Their salsa and chips were delicious(especially the salsa). The pork salsa verde is super tang and very scrumptious. The flan was good and light, not as thick as traditional Mexican flan.

Solid little taco shop that offers big portions for a decent price. I ordered their carne asada burrito and had them add cheese to it. the carne asada was very tender and the guacamole was delicious they also give you a side of chips and salsa which is a nice perk Oh did I mention they offer beer here so you can enjoy and kick back with a corona while eating your burrito. thumbs up!

The breakfast burritos are amazing. Ham, sausage or bacon are options. Mix them up with eggs, cheese, beans, and wrap them in a tasty tortilla and you have a Mauricio masterpiece! The homemade salsa has a small bite and it is delightfully chunky !

I’m surprised I have never seen this place pop out to me after passing by on Adams so many times on my way to Dark Horse. Mauricio’s kinda hides out in a little strip mall thing off Adams, they have quite a small parking lot but I was lucky enough to come on a very un busy Saturday night. The place isn’t too big or spectacular inside, but when I came the place was really clean and spotless. Their menu( )( ) consists of usual items you’d expect from a San Diego place but they do serve a lot of breakfast options, all which aren’t available after 11am. This is very unfortunate because some of us love ending our nights with a big burrito full of eggs and bacon. I ended up leaving this place getting takeaway for home, they kinda resisted me asking for lots of hot sauce but they finally gave into my pleas for their delicious sauce by giving me extra. Their hot sauce is quite tasty here and I happily drowned my burrito in it. The California burrito( ) here was on the average size of burritos, it came stuffed with meat, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and fries( ). While some people got major hate for pico de gallo in Californias, I say go elsewhere because thats how they are suppose to be in San Diego. The ratios of all that wonderful stuff just clicked here, they did a good job at making sure it wasn’t a french fry burrito by adding lots of meat. The carne asada was flavorful, juicy and cooked fresh. It wasn’t simply warmed up asada. As far as rolled tacos( ) here go, they aren’t a let down at all that is if you add all kinds of extra stuff. They up charged me to add lettuce and pico de gallo, which should come standard in my opinion. Putting that aside they were good tasting rolled tacos with lots of real guacamole on top. None of that stupid sour cream guac here, they throw on the real stuff. The hot carrots( ) at Mauricio’s cost extra, but are definitely worth it. They were soft and spicy yet didn’t reek of vinegar. Mauricio’s is definitely a good one in my book with a few negatives of course. They have great hot sauce even though they don’t have a self serve salsa bar. Not serving breakfast burritos all day? That’s a major disappointment. Then the upcharges for lettuce on your food isn’t cool either.

Bit of a hybrid Mexican restaurant and taco shop. With Mauricio’s, you get fast service that of a taco shop but with food quality you’ll find at a Mexican restaurant. Prices also seem to be a tad bit higher than your average shop but their menu is a bit more extensive. Not to mention they have tables throughout the place. I’m one that loves caldos and they serve really good caldo de pollo here; it’s one of the better ones in the area. Big pieces of chicken and very flavorful broth. Doesn’t taste like there’s anything that came from a can… very homemade taste. I’ve come by after work, walked up to the counter to place my order, find a table and wait for my food to arrive. They serve complimentary salsa and chips while you wait for your food. Love that salsa which you can taste does not come out of a jar and is made natural spicy ingredients. Chips are above standard and not greasy. The tables are clean and I like that it’s pretty spread out. You can actually sit down and enjoy a meal without feeling too, too rushed.

When I’m super hungry and lazy to cook this is my go to Mexican restaurant. I’m not sure what it is but I like this place and gets pretty packed during dinner time. I haven’t ordered everything from here as I always like to stick to the fish burrito or the chicken plate. Their carne asada I have to say is always over cooked. I never order it but the bf does all the time and each time its over cooked and dry. I’ll stick to the fish and chicken as its usually cooked right. If you sit there and eat they do give you chips and salsa. That’s always nice and unexpected from a casual place like this. If you’re in the area it’s a great place to just grab food and eat, plus they have a nice little area to the side to sit outside, but since its part of the parking lot, hope you don’t mind all the cars passing by. Yay for fish burrito. :)
