this is how to do it, case you are wondering about coffee shops. el kinky nut, me thinks is worth it. can’t say I will spend 4 dollars on a coffee drink more than a handful of times a year but this place I willingly pay for the great drink, the service, the humor, the twist.

This is such a cool little coffee shack! After a disappointing breakfast experience across the street, we passed by the shack and I was curious about it. Just reading the menu made me laugh. Yes I am immature and laughed when I read«crackhead». The girl in front of me ordered the crackhead chai latte and I couldn’t help but laugh. I tried very hard to keep a straight face because I wanted the same drink! Chatted a bit to the barista and he was very nice and he made an amazing drink! One of the best iced chai lattes i’ve ever had. It had a good balance between the chai tea and the latte taste. I don’t like when one overpowers the other. Hung out at one of their tables for a little bit and I noticed the hula hoops. Umm yes of course I want to hula hoop on the street corner! Lol. I suck at it now. I’m definitely a fan of this little Meshuggah Shack. Hopefully I can come back again and visit soon.

Cute little spot but kind of bummed they removed the swing in the back. Coffee was too sweet, too. Good effort, though. I’d like to someday try the location at Qartyard but it always seems to be closed.

A little hut located on the corner of Ft. Stockton/Goldfinch. Unique in both decoration and drinks names. I always think it’s great when small businesses like this experience longevity and success. The barista was friendly and got our orders out quickly. I ordered the El Kinky Nut which totally hit the sweet tooth this morning! Curious to give the Eric’s Bad Boy(I think?) a try the next time I’m in the neighborhood… But the sweet ones are certainly sweet, so choose wisely.

Awesome coffee shack in mission hills. Tried them out during the taste of mission hills and all their drinks were fantastic! Cute seating area outside, definitely a fun spot to read the paper or chat with you girlfriends.

This is a crazy little corner shack that gets points off tops for sticking it to big name brews like Starbucks on another nearby corner. Lots of creative coffee combos with descriptions that will draw out a chuckle like Jumping Judas, Crackhead Chai, Dirty girl and many more. All available in iced or hot there are plenty of reasons to go back for other flavors or in my case find that one. I got the El Kinky nut and wow did it hit the spot. Sweet and flavorful I’m already eager to go for another. The server was real cool and does all the mixing right there in the shack. The décor is wild and clashed, kinda reminds me of a metal band setting up shop in a religious charm store and then end result was Messhuggah. So the décor wins out too. I suppose there is more than person on busier days but my only complaint is the one guy having to solo serve a growing line. Still a very literal sweet experience I enjoyed.

Parking 15 minutes walking distance from work can be a drag but parking by this shack helps. I look forward to trying a new flavor each time. They have a great variety on the menu! Try the Iced Coconut Latte. I added Ghirardelli chocolate syrup for free for checking in on Unilocal! The shack is decorated with saints and dolls – some things to stare at for the wait. Expect there to be a line because there is only one barista! There is a .50 charge for card purchases under $ 8. I forgot to ask if they have a loyalty/stamp card! I’ll be back!

This is one of my happy places. I live close by and look for any excuse(especially sunny Saturdays) to sit curbside with a cup of coffee and some reading material. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a business where literally every single staff member I’ve ever dealt with has been totally kind and attentive. Sometimes people have bad days, right? But I’ve never experienced that at this business and you’d think after 100 visits, it would just be a matter of time? But nope. 100% great service and coffee and other chocolatey goodness.

Parking is hard to come by near this corner so you better ask the parking fairies to provide you front row if you’re not on foot or bike. And bam just like that a parking spot opened up in front of tops. To be honest, this was not planned, we went to get pizza, and as we were walking back to the car we saw the Holiday lights turn on the Meshuggah Shack. Could it be another sign? I looked at my husband and he need not say anything he advanced his steps toward the menu board. We were greeted by a sweet young hip chick named McKenzie. She had a spicy sense of humor after I told her I wanted a chai tea without reading the actual menu name. She said oh the crackhead chai latte. I said excuse me? My husband reads it yep it says whore on the description too. Yep that’s what I want… I guess. McKenzie said I knew you wanted that I could tell when you walked up. Love the raw personality. Basically we closed the shop up that night. I checked in and received the free shot of espresso so my husband got a double shot Mexican Mocha. We asked if she does anything for kids. McKenzie told us parents get their little ones steamed milk with a bit of vanilla for flavor. The first sip our son took his face was gleaming. I think he had a crush on her. I’m a Mission Hills native and to think this run down ATM machine on the corner became a popular hip coffee shop years later is unbelievable. With outdoor seating, heat lamps, hula hoops, chalks, games, potted plants, mosaics, artworks galore, nicknacks, random findings, bright colors, and religious items(take it how you will negative or positively) it’s a coffee shop relax! Do you know any other shops exactly like this one? Probably not. The uniqueness of it from afar or close up will make you think twice but when it comes down to it you’re really there for the caffeine or the drinks. Our drinks tasted so good but then again we like sweet. We got to meet the owner for a brief moment before they closed. The lights were just put up that day so it felt super cozy during the cold night. We would go back just to see McKenzie and try some other hilarious menu options.

So cozy and nice place. I really like everything with it. If you are looking for good coffee and a nice place to relax on, this is your place. Meshuggah shack have friendly staff and their menu are great, I tasted a coconut caffe latte and I loved it. My friend had a ice coffee, which also was great. Also if you have to eat gluten free products this place will don’t let you down. They have a few choices of cookies that you can eat. I tried one pice and its was really good. Although Meshuggah shack is a great place is not a place to recommend if it’s a rainy day. Of course can you drive by and take your coffee to go. I loved it and I will definitely take a coffee break there soon again.

It’s a little quirky with its décor and menu, but truly a great neighborhood coffee shop. I mean, they had a Jesus mer-man and a tattooed up baby doll as decorations which definitely put a smile on my face. They have a pretty unique coffee menu. I tried the latte with mocha and Sriacha. The Sriacha wasn’t too overpowering flavor-wise, but there was a definite spicy kick to it. It was different from what I normally gravitate towards, but it was a nice surprise. The baristas were really friendly and helpful. While waiting on my coffee, I took advantage of the hula hoops they have hanging by the lamp post. I know, it all sounds very hipster, but I didn’t get that vibe at all. Just give it a try and experience for yourself this magical neighborhood gem!

Forget about Starbucks! This place is the way to go for your morning coffee! I started working right around the corner about 4 months ago, and every single time, I’m welcomed by the friendliest of smiles. Great location and the best coffee in the area! Let me just be clear that even though I’m not into the whole hipster trend, this place is just something else. It calls out to you. It’s a warm and happy place. Every one is different, yet everyone is the same. As a customer who’s worked retail for many years, their customer service is phenomenal. And for their loyal customer(like me), they have a punch card where for every 10 drinks you buy, you get the next one free! This place has better drinks than most coffee places, and at great prices! My recommendation is «The Philly», it’s some sort of vanilla with a hint caramel frap. It’s delicious! Anyways, like instated before. These guys are freaking awesome! I’d recommend it to anyone from the mission hills area!

Kathy T. You just reminded me to write a 5 star review about my favorite Mission Hills coffee shop that has the best heart, class and fun in the city. On any given morning or afternoon this place puts a smile on my face. Loaded with quirky tchotchkes and random surprises, you’ll get lost in the wonderland of the shack. Before you know it your order is up and you’re indulging in coffee or tea bliss. Try one of their bars, heavenly. This is always on my go to list whilst in the Mission Hills neighborhood.

10÷3÷15 — In response to John’s comment: I find it interesting that you addressed the inappropriate going-ons at your shack, yet you do not address the poor service, nor the bad product that we received. This speaks volumes to me that you do not care one iota about delivering a brand that everyone, regardless of their beliefs, is entitled to when spending money at your shack. And for your lame attempt at a reply, 1 more star deducted :) Good day, and goodbye. No love lost. _______________ REVIEWTHATJOHNRESPONDEDTOFOLLOWS: It’s a shack that I’m not impressed with… In any way, shape or form. My Daughter and I were shopping in the area, when I remembered I had a card(coupon) for a free drink, it was time for some caffeine, and we decided to try it. Boy, that was a big mistake. Whomever thinks this place is cute obviously hasn’t been anywhere good for coffee, tea, etc. One star deducted for the bad treatment we received. The girl wasn’t friendly at all. I will even go so far as to say she acted like she didn’t want to be helpful to us in any way. Since it was our first time here, we asked if there was a menu. She said there was none.(Upon returning home, we discovered a menu online.) For reasons known only to her, she also steered us away from what we asked for, making excuses that she couldn’t make it because everything is already pre-made. What? I’m looking behind her at all the machines that make whatever your heart desires. Say again? No menu? Can’t do that? Ummm…I’m pretty sure judgmental people work here, because of her tone and because of her not wanting to satisfy our requests. It doesn’t matter whether or not you have a free drink card, because these people pass their worthless free cards out to everyone who walks by their corner. Why the attitude? I get it, unfortunately. After seeing all of the references dissing religion and seeing Barbie dolls glued together and engaging in sex, I can see it all.(BTW, there was a couple with a child old enough to know what the Barbie dolls were doing.) Second star deducted. I’m far from being a prude, but since some parents are onboard with exposing their kids to this stuff, I feel very sorry for the negligent parents raising them. It’s kind of like the punk kid who tried intentionally tripping me with his skateboard inside a Panda Express. And I do know who he is; I’ve seen his picture here on someone’s profile on Unilocal.:/ When teens are already acting out like this, I have to wonder where the good parenting is, and I have seen plenty of teens turn out bad when they are already acting like a punk as a teen. Yes, I’m being judgmental myself in saying this, but it was an incident that was not provoked in any way by me. I can’t get past this. We’re going to end up with a bunch of bad apples that spoil the rest of the bunch for the kids raised with class, morals, integrity and dignity when the negligent parents keep exposing their kids to the wrong stimuli. They’ll most likely be bullies. The free ‘concoction’ she made for me? It was trashed. Third star deducted. And for those who say it’s all in fun? Stay classy, San Diego. Sadly, I don’t think San Diego can when such shacks exist. Pass.

Saw Unilocal reviews and was looking for a coffee spot early this morning. This came up and was in the vicinity. Found parking right next to the place. I was expecting a building of sorts and had to do a double take that this business was an actual«shack.» The barista working was a cool dude. I ordered a small«dirty gurl» coffee. It was indeed dirty(that means it was good). Considering it was a small it was enough to keep me wired. It was very sweet but just to my liking. I ordered a dark cherry muffin and it was also very good(and gluten free). There appears to be a lot of good coffee shops in this area. May have to look into what else is around here. But this is a good spot to stop over. Not much seating out here so this is more of a order and go kinda place.

I haven’t tried their drinks yet… but i’m writing this review on their friendliness & location. My friend and i were walking the streets of Goldfinch and came across a few hula hoops. Being the free-spirited, adventurous humans we are, why not hula hoop? We started to show off and do our thang. The staff working at the shack became our fan LOL and took a video and photos to post on their site #Famous… They’re very chill, cool and friendly. He gave us a comp coupon so were definitely coming back. perfect area for coffee & tea.

I adore this little coffee hut. The coffee purveyors at Meshuggah have the best attitudes on the planet. The menu is truly inspired with items that range from weird to weirdest(but all very delicious thus far). My favorites: Pussy Ray Johnson(tastes like Neapolitan ice cream), Denise’s Coconut Latte, El Kinky Nut, Mexican Mocha, Teresa’s Sin and Salvation, Dainty Cowboy. I usually get these drinks slightly less sweet. While you wait, enjoy perusing their collection of kitschy items that range from a singing pickle to dancing jesus.

Thought I’d be adventurous and try the Chai sparkle that the two men in front of me ordered-you had me at lavender!!! but alas, it was too sweet, scratch that, WAY too sweet for my taste. Kindly, the gal who was working traded it out for a plain mocha with half the syrup. So, that gets stars! But i have to remove stars too because I was so disappointed to understand that all the Catholic and Jewish décor items are meant as an irreverent mockery and not a homage. I realized this after having observed the mix of Catholic and Jewish décor, asking if the owners were Jewish and Catholic, thinking I’d hear an interesting«origin» story, but the reply was hinting at irreverence, «take it how you like… they don’t take it too seriously». I looked closer, some statues are broken, images askew, some with silly sayings. You know, it’s okay if you don’t take a groups religion seriously, you don’t have to believe it, but I take it seriously when ANY group of people is the butt of any ongoing joke, playful or not. If a coffee kiosk had Martin Luther King Jr. Imagery and Cesar Chavez photos, upside down, on the ceiling, some images torn ot broken, some with funny sayings and they didn’t take human rights seriously, it just would be offensive to these civil rights leaders and their legacy. The Messhugah Shack, also seems to support the gay community, I hope they aren’t in actuality being patronizing and mocking to another group of people along with mocking two specific religions like the Jewish and Catholic faiths. No group of people deserves to be mocked day in and day out. All peoples deserve common respect. Just don’t use your storefront to mock groups of people and what they hold dear. It’s not good and it’s not funny.

Okay, it’s official… I just found my new favorite coffee spot in Mission Hills. When looking for the place, you can’t miss it — look for all the bright colors, funky décor, and lawn chairs. Parking isn’t too bad, there’s a lot of street parking in the area and it gives you a great excuse to window shop along the way! As for the coffee… THECOFFEE. It’s amazing. You’ll be hit with so many magical coffee possibilities, you’ll know that you’re going to have to be back really soon. My favorite drink is Denise’s coconut latte– it’s the perfect mix of caffeine with coconut flavor(without the super sugary taste). If you’re not a lover of coconut, there are so many other drink options. Oh, and the baristas post their ‘New Drinks’ so check it out! Basically, it’s almost impossible to go wrong with Meshuggah Shack. Enjoy the coffee, take in all the funky gift shop items, and kick back on a lawn chair. What can be better? OH, there’s a new location coming up in downtown area! It’s so exciting that they’re opening more locations!

This is a great small coffee shack with some very nice seating around it under the shade with a great view of the neighborhood for people watching, relaxing, chatting it up, and most importantly, enjoying one of their wonderful drinks they have to offer. I stopped by after brunch to wine down after having a few drinks during brunch, and I ordered their black iced tea for a couple of bucks and some change( ). The sugarless black tea was on point on flavor and had just the right amount of ice. I am not sure want brand they, but it had a good refreshing flavor and it hit the spot. Apparently, they are really loved on Unilocal here and rightfully so. With a great location in the heart of Mission Hills, on the out skirts of the business district and into the surrounding neighborhood, this place has it going on with location, friendly service, and great drinks. Did I mention they like little ponies here( )??
