I’m not going to lie… this was not my absolute favorite coffee in San Diego. That’s not to say it wasn’t good, though, because it was. But the customer service and prices make this place get 5 stars. I came here on a Sunday to grab a coffee. It was a very nice environment in front of the Quartyard with a few people and their dogs. I checked in on Unilocal and found an offer to add espresso to my drink, and they let me add it to their regular coffee. Their prices are great! $ 2.25 for a 20 ounce coffee. Outstanding! Credit card prices are higher so bring cash. While waiting for my coffee, I ended up chatting with Chris(the owner) who insisted I try the smoothie he just made for someone else. He gave me the leftovers from hers in a cup and I have to say it was really good. Way to hook me, guys. I’ll come back I promise!

Ok, I’m not sure what these guys are putting in their coffee but the taste is pure ecstasy in your mouth. I’m not even a huge fan of coffee and I had The Philly, which contains 2 shots of espresso twice in the 3 days I was there. The staff is friendly, even if you squeak in right at closing time(:/sorry). I’m kinda convinced that they are wizards and are putting magic in the drinks though, I really wish I lived in San Diego just for this coffee.

We were there for #yelpspringbreak in San Diego and checked-in at the Quartyard when they recommended that we try out Mesuggah Shack right in the same complex! I didn’t notice it at first, but it’s a huge container and inside it is the café! So hipster! Drinks range from $ 3-$ 5. Both of the drinks we tried out were pretty good. Smooth coffee flavor and not too sweet. Really helpful and cheery staff that will brighten up your day! The décor is really interesting as well. There are only a few tables/chairs outside of their shop. Parking: street parking in meters(bring coins!)

It was a raining weekday morning and I was early to a commitment downtown! Stopped by this spot, it caught my attention with the funky deco. Amazing service, I got a warm durty Gurl(chai with coffee instead of milk)! A good pick me up on a gloomy day, plus they gave me a stamp card with 4 stamps. Mad love, will definitely make an effort to be back more regularly.

Absolutely the best coffee shop in East Village hands down! The drinks are decadent and creative. And they have lots of little pastries to snack on. My typical order is a large iced Dirty Gurl — a dirty chai take up to the nth degree — skip the milk in the typical chai latte and replace it all with espresso. It’s beyond delicious. The staff at Meshuggah are so sweet. They take the time to make your drink with care and have a quick chat with you. Make sure you get you get your card stamped, 10 stamps and you get a free drink!

I’m always by this place because I always transfer trolleys at Park & Market. But this time I was really craving a fruit smoothie and so I thought I’d give it a shot. I was deciding between the Pineapple Whip and OG smoothie(Strawberry, banana and pineapple). I went with the pineapple whip which came to $ 6. And while I was waiting, they gave me a «repeat offender» card which gives you a free one after the 10th purchase. As for the smoothie it was thick and creamy(that’s what she said haha), with a lot of flavor. I believe they used vanilla ice cream. It’s so thick that I may have to eat it with a spoon next time. Meshuggah Shack is a cool little place that really has a chill vibe with good smoothies and for that… I will definitely be a «repeat offender.»

Coolest little coffee shack ever!!! Not for overly sensitive radical religious folk, who lack a sense of humor. Here they have fantastic drinks, excellent service, and unusual décor that plays with humor and religion. I ordered a medium chai half sweet with soymilk and an espresso shot. This is a cool little spot for people who want a quick drink before they take their dog to the local dog park. All the people who work here are incredibly kind and the prices are reasonable for the area. There’s a cute outdoor patio where you can chill and soak in the sun, and take a break from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

As I have been frequenting this little gem of a shack recently, Im beginning to see the innumerable visual pleasures if offers. Whether that be counting how many records are hung on the walls/ceiling(actually, how many are there?), or people gazing since its close to the trolley stop in east village. All kinds of interesting folks wind up crossing your path down there. The location is growing a cute soft-spot deep, deep in my heart. You almost cant see it, but the relief that washes over you once the parakeet green storage container comes into view, is borderline physical. Your posture changes, your stride quickens, and your mouth begins to twitch. All good signs mind you, that soon, your caffeinated cheerfulness will discharge on all objects within a 50ft radius. You could make a friend that day. You never know. Thanks Meshuggah Shack for doing it right!

«Welcome to the insane asylum, enter at your own risk!» I swear I’m not too crazy, but I AM crazy for some good coffee! My Aunt and I accidentally fell on this place coincidentally looking for a good pick-me-up. Their espresso which was as strong as a Comanche tribe did just the trick. This unconventional and bohemian styled stall is inviting and works well for the spontaneous or those who want to spend time with friends in a unique atmosphere. The concept of Meshuggah Shack sure would fit well for us crazies here in Miami! p. s. The décor on the other hand was pretty dope however, not made for the close minded. haha

Saved the best for last on our #Socal #FoodTour What a gem in SD’s east village. Chris, the man behind the bar proves that coffee is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy. I ordered«La Lupe» which was a creative concoction of mocha meets peanut butter featuring REAL Mexican coco in the Ibarra form. The art décor and hip feel are a beautiful touch to the craft. It’s no wonder Meshuggah has multiple locations. They seem to have a following of avid coffee drinkers and their customer service is second to none. My wife and I were former baristas at a well known popular chain and would have left those jobs to join Chris in a heart beat. Well done Messhugah, well done! #SanDiegosfinest

One of my favorite coffee shops downtown. I’ve been a big fan of the other location in Mission Hills so excited to see this location open in East Village. The espresso here is very strong but not bitter. I don’t drink coffee anymore I do miss the taste sometimes. This is one of the places I go to from time to time to get that coffee fix.

Local — Iced coffee — it’s the only thing I’ve tried but it’s was good enough to give the café 5 stars. It was strong, bold and full of flavor. Environment — *** 5⁄5 *** The layout is pretty dope and the décor is fun and interesting. Not sure if they have wifi or outlets but overall it’s a good place to study and do work. The staff was chill and happy too.

What an interesting place. From the eclectic décor to the funky names of the coffee and tea drinks. While your debating which drink you plan to guzzle down, grab a hula hoop and have a go round. I have stopped by here twice. The first time, they were closing down for the night. The next time was during the afternoon. The staff seemed disorganized. I think that the person in line ahead of me ordered something and they didn’t have the ingredients to make the drink, so the barista left and came back about five minutes later. Maybe he went to get more mile or something? Seemed a little off to me. The staff did seem super friendly and were really trying. Then later some other guy came behind the counter and was giving out fake flower lei’s. It is located in a shipping container in East Village, right next to the new Quartyard. The drinks that I have had were tasty. The La Lupe and the Creakhead Chai. I have heard that the teas are really good here too. I will go back since I think that the baristas were just having an off day. And the night that I went, was a busy one since it was the Grand Opening for the Quartyard.

This coffee shop is a shack, but a very good shack that makes some great coffee and espressos. I ordered my go to Americano, a medium for $ 3, and hung out for a bit sipping it on their comfortable lawn chairs right out in front. The Americano was great. It was a terrifically rich cup of espresso with a light layer of foam created by the hot water instantly poured into the espresso( ). It was piping hot so it was perfect to sip on while I relaxed and checked my e-mails. Great stuff. The staff here are super hip and friendly. They open early on the weekends, so if you happen to be in Village early, they will be there waiting for you. Great Shack!
