Michael Joseph Salon and Spa

I drive all the way from the South Bay to get my hair cut and colored by Michael. I have «strayed» a few times to try a stylist closer to home but each time I did I had to go running back to Michael to fix it. He has an eye for color and has always guided me in the right direction. I get many compliments on my cut and colors and am thoroughly happy. I’m so glad he has opened his own shop. It is always bright and clean and happy music playing in the background. He and his staff are very personable and friendly as well.

These guys are great. I love the new lighting. Laura and Sheena we so welcoming. What a great find!

I am new to San Diego and I had been seeing the same stylist for the last 6 years so trying to find a new one is always tough. I came on Unilocal and wanted to find a new place that was local to my new home. I stumbled across Michael Joseph as well as their Unilocal deal and thought I would give it a shot. Needless to say, I was impressed!!!
My stylist was Vee Ebrahim, who has 16 – 17 years of experience, photo of business card will be posted, and I wanted to get a simple haircut/​trim, ans try a Brazilian blowout. I made sure Michael Joseph Salon was an approved BB salon first, especially since I’ve never done anything but trim my hair.
I showed up and the salon looked clean, fresh, and professional (always a good sign) and it was much classier than any ordinary salon, let’s say Great Clips.
I was greeted by Michael, the owner and offered refreshments. He even changed the music to suit my generation, Justin Timberlake radio (being 21), even though I had also appreciated the Frank Sinatra/​Michael Bublé. I frequent both so regardless I was happy. We chatted for a bit and Vee arrived on time.
**for those who judge stylists by their own hair, everyone who I saw working had great hair of their own and dressed very nice. So just am fyi there.
I told Vee what I was looking for and she priced me, with having very long curly hair, at 250 for a cut, style, and Brazilian blowout. I think this is reasonable because for a cut and style at Great Clips for my length I was going to be charged 60 for someone who had only been doing hair for a couple years, back at home in Idaho, BB goes for about 300 – 400 for SHORT HAIR (according to friends). Regardless, with the 50 dollar off deal, it was easier to afford for me.
During my hair make over, Michael brought by their esthnitician Jessica Bohard of Left Coast Lashes and Skin, and introduced me. She was cute and very friendly and talked to me about the services she offers (business card and pamphlet attached). I was impressed by this as well. Very professional.
Vee worked on my locks for 2 hours total and the outcome was amazing! I feel so much better about my hair. It is the healthiest, shiniest, softest it has ever been in my life and NO frizz, my «I’m super happy» photo also posted. I’m more than happy with it. She was very sweet, was happy to chat if I wanted, and really listened to what I was looking for. Also, I called on a Monday, not expected to be seen for over a couple weeks, and I was able to get an appointment THE SAME DAY. Now, I can’t guarantee this for all stylists or all the time of course but knowing they make the effort to get you in as soon as possible is nice to see. Their hours are very good too 9 – 9!
I will definitely be recommending them to anyone for their hair/​esthetic needs!

I’ve been meaning to write this review. I got a haircut here 3 months ago and love the customer service! Michael was my hairdresser and he was so knowledgeable and fast! He copied EXACTLY the haircut I wanted from a picture. I found my hairdresses! $$ is also reasonable.

Love this cute salon! My hair stylist was Michael, and he brought my hair from a dark brown to platinum blonde in one sitting, which other stylist have told me I would have to go gradually lighter over time. He did wonders! The salon is clean and everyone is friendly. I would recommend this salon to anyone.

If you are looking for a great colorist and hair stylist, try Natalie Adams. I have been going to her for years and am finally writing a review (my bad!). She is good at her craft — she knows her stuff and I appreciate that. I always learn a lot from her — not only about hair (we talk a lot about products and hair treatments) but also about a myriad of subjects — nutrition (gluten free, vegan recipes), dog care, local events, and natural (healthy) cleaning supplies. I mean, practical stuff I can use everyday. But it is the color and cut I return for. She is no nonsense — she’ll tell you what will work for your hair type or not. I am so happy to have found her!

Bought a groupon and it expired because Dana never returned my calls in a timely manner and never had availability.

The Salon is great! I have used Carol for many years and my hair always looks great. I couldn’t be happier.

Natalie Adams is great! She takes the time to go over what you really want and then proceeds to give a great cut. Natalie also does a fantastic job with color! I highly recommend her.

Brenda Kinzenbaw does great work. She takes my fine hair and makes it look really good!
