I came here for lunch with a colleague of mine. I believe this restaurant turns into a club/venue in the evenings which has live music. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food is good and the prices were very reasonable. I would recommend Michos to anyone looking for a simple lunch. The wait time for your food is about 5 – 10 Minutes. I would rate Michos as follows: Food quality is 4 stars, Service is 4 stars, Atmosphere is 3 stars and Price is 4 stars. The views expressed are of my own and are my true personal experience at this establishment. My personal experience may not reflect this actual establishment, their quality or someone else’s experience at the establishment.

Tortillas made to order Outstanding gourmet taco configurations Super nice staff Best tacos in downtown hands down (Sorry puesto, i love you but this place is that secret hole in the wall that you goto if you’re «in the know») The ambiance and setting are very misleading. Just sit down and order the tacos and you shall see. I recommend: Especiale Queso Nopal Anything else you get will be delicious. Make sure you try both the flour and corn tortillas. My favorite is the flour but that’s just me, they’re both amazing and made to order(not just made that day… TOORDER)

Was in San Diego and decided our trip wouldn’t be complete without going to get some Mexican food since that’s the hype around SD. We decided to come here after looking on Unilocal and we would’ve missed the place if I weren’t looking at the stores. There wasn’t a huge sign that points you to this place so it was kind of a hole in the wall. We were greeted immediately to a bar atmosphere and then we ordered. We got a carne Asada taco, the carne Asada fries, and a side of the Mexican rice. The taco was really good and we should’ve got more. The fries were also really good although nearing the end they got super salty. The rice was also really good. I would recommend this place although it was relatively empty!

Delicious! Fresh made tortillas, both flour and corn! My husband swears by the queso taco… Which is cheese grilled around skirt steak topped with avocado and more cheese. I always get the shrimp… Shrimp with cheese and avocado. If you like hole in the wall tasty restaurants, then try this place. Tacos are slight bigger than street style, so I usually get 2.

The food was amazing! Nothing but fresh food with great flavor at an affordable price. The server was hospitable and the food came out very quickly. We are visiting from Hawaii where great Mexican food is hard to find so we were very satisfied with the food here. Just be careful not to miss it because you can literally walk right past it without knowing.

*The location is a little weird — I wasted half my parking meter time just trying to find this place. Google does not have the correct address. Unilocal appears to have the correct address, however, this place is actually located in a club. Google calls it the Stage, the awning out front says Atomic* It’s next to The Tipsy Crow on 5th Great tacos! I ordered the gourmet combo with one chipotle pollo and one smoked salmon taco. The chipotle pollo taco is amazing. The smoked salmon is wonderful also but I left questioning the cheese as a topping? I like cheese, just not sure if I like it on a smoked salmon taco. Corn tortillas are fresh, thick, and delicious. Tortilla chips are super thin and crispy. Salsas were all very flavorful and the habanero has good heat.

Came here during the weeknight and I ordered the fish taco. We initially hesitated because the place was empty, but good thing we didn’t leave. Their fish taco($ 3.99 each) is definitely one of my favorites and the most delicious I’ve had so far! It beats Rubio’s and all the other places I’ve tried around San Diego. You can chose either the corn or flour tortilla. I ended up trying one of each, and I have to say, the flour tasted so good! It came out fresh and delicious. The waiter told us, the taco wrap is hand made. And after trying it out, it’s definitely fresh and hand-made. Note: They only open during the week for food. And during the weekend, it’s a club/bar. And they have Taco Tuesday Specials. The place was hard to find because there’s no sign for Michos. It’s actually a club called Atomic Bar. So, if you’re having a hard time finding this place, look for«Atomic Bar». This place is definitely a hidden gem.

Despite being underwhelmed by lack of flavor(hey guys, you need to stock up on salt and limes!), I still want to give this place a good review. The food is cheap and it tastes fresh and came out piping hot. The only honest criticism I have is that everything was missing seasoning! The beans had some salt but I think it came more from the cotija garnish. The«guacamole» was literally just mashed avocados-again it was a good quality avocado and tasted and looked fresh-BUT– it needed salt, acidity, and the typical ingredients I expect in some half way decent guacamole! I didn’t even see cilantro or onions, or taste those items in the«guacamole». The fish taco had all the elements of a great fish taco and the piece of fish I had was excellently cooked and juicy… but again had no seasoning and because of this, the hot, moist, fish in my mouth was a bit awkward, almost as awkward as typing out said description. The vegetable rajas taco was also a culmination of great ingredients that needed some depth of flavor. The bean and cheese burrito was on par, minus salt, seriously, this chef needs some lesson in seasoning or we came on a bad day! This establishment is a bar, so I expect the food hype is based on the ballad of a drunken palate, but the service was excellent, thanks to the solitary bar man that hustled about to take care of everyone sitting inside, and the music wasn’t too loud which helped get us inside the door, finally! All in all, I would definitely come back for the great priced and pretty good food, but I will have some spices in my bag just in case!

Taco Tuesday! Taco Tuesday! Taco Tuesday! Now I know everyone has a special place they think is truly the best for tacos. From downtown to Old Town, I know San Diego is not lacking in the quality Mexican food department. Being that I had a few hours to kill and was in the area, the Unilocal reviews of old brought to this place. A few happy hour margaritas, chips and guac and 4 asada tacos left me beyond satiated. Don’t worry, I split the food. The guacamole though was very fresh and not too salty. The tacos though, wow! Corn and flour tortillas, guacamole, pico de gallo and plenty of asada. Yeah, I think I’m going to come back.

Had two of their awesome premier tacos, first the micho beef which was recommended by the waitress and also a shrimp one. Both were savory and spiced just enough for my tastes. The chips and dip were a nice addition. The place also had a bar and downstairs area with room for live music, Id return here if in gas lamp on a future visit at night.

Stopped by here for a lunch when we were in Gaslamp Quarter. It’s a pretty indescrip place during the day and if not for Unilocal I never would have known that their specaility was tacos. I ordered a shrimp gourmet taco as well as a micho beef(I think this was the name of the standard). The bartender/waitress was nice with her recommendations from the venue and for just $ 8.99(2 tacos, rice and beans) I thought it was a great deal. The tacos were delicious and I paired them well with a Dos Equis cerveza.

After a week of touring San Diego, sightseeing and sampling some wonderful food and local craft beer, I turned to Unilocal to find the best fish tacos available. The reviews are true. We hesitated a bit taking the family into Club Atomik just as a band was finishing sound check, but the bartender welcomed us immediately and assured us we’d have plenty of time to enjoy a meal before 9pm when the venue switches to 21+ only. I had fish and carnizo tacos on handmade flour tortillas, my wife had asada and veggie tacos on handmade corn tortillas, and my boys tore through beans and chips. Like most everyone else writes, this is absolutely outstanding food tucked away in a club. Easily the best, most savory and flavorful tacos I’ve ever enjoyed. I was glad to learn that Mike the bartender was responsible for the kitchen and the fantastic tacos produced there. It was obvious that he cared about our experience and made us feel more welcomed than we could have imagined inside a bar minutes away from switching to club mode. This place will be on my must-visit list for San Diego. We took two more tacos to go.

This place came from a friend who’s from the area. A friend who has now been upgraded to «trusted friend» status based on this recommendation alone. I almost missed this place’ it’s actually inside a bar/nightclub called Atomik but if you keep your eyes open you’ll see the menu board on the outside. It’s seat yourself, order at the bar. A large variety of tacos are available with a couple of combo options allowing you to mix and match ala carte. I had the Carnizo taco and found it excellent. The tortillas are different than any other place I’ve been, definitely home made and thick heavy flour, perfect for supporting the deliciously slow roasted pork or chorizo or what have you. The beans as a side were a treasure, probably the finest I’ve had. I’m not sure how they made them but I want to know how: I grew up eating pinto beans and corn bread and those were the best I think I’ve ever had.

Super fun vibe with fresh tacos and a full bar. Can’t beat it. The fried fish taco was flaky and delicious. The asada was tender and covered with a delicious guac concoction. Can’t wait to go back.

I’ve been eating at Micho’s for over two years now. And I’ve tried LOTS of taco places in between. For the price and quality of food here at micho’s, you can’t really beat it. I get the pollo adobada and the micho pretty much every time, but I would recommend anything on the menu. Plus, I’ve never received better service anywhere in San Diego than with Mike. He makes Michos feel like Cheers. The best tacos are here at Michos.

If you’re someone who values ambiance, Michos isn’t your deal. From the looks of it, it’s a club by night, and a grungy as all hell restaurant by day. The lighting sucks, there’s not much table seating available, and the bathroom is a dirty stall without a functioning lock. But the food? So good. I’m no expert on Mexican cuisine in San Diego, but as an out-of-towner looking for some fantastic tacos, I can absolutely vouch for Michos. The queso taco and jalapeño taco are so rich in flavor, it’s incredible. No doubt, these are among the best tacos I’ve ever had — they’re cheesy, savory, and pack the heat. I’d like to see more local crafts represented in the beer selection, though. If you can handle the hole-in-the-wall, club-afterparty vibe, definitely definitely come here for some good food.

I am shocked that anyone would give this place less than 5 stars. The food is excellent. I tried the queso, smoked salmon and jalapeño shrimp tacos. They were all made fresh with house made corn tortillas. Very flavorful and overall some of the best tacos I have ever had. The ambiance is a bit strange for lunch, which made me skeptical at first but once the food is tasted all was forgiven.

I don’t think I could be more disappointed in the food. I was so excited to get to try the tacos that everyone rates so high. I first tried to come here yesterday not knowing that the Michos sign was only up on taco Tuesday’s. I honestly thought that the place had just changed to a new business so I looked again and saw that the last rating was only two weeks earlier. As my wife and I were walking by today looking for some place to eat lunch I noticed the small sign and excitedly stated ‘This is it!.‘ When we first walked in it wasn’t too crowded even though it was during lunch time. The waitress/bartender/super athletic run around doing everything server,(who gets 5 stars for how awesome she was), got to us rather quickly and got our drink order. She came back and we ordered our lunch. By the time we got our food, which was not long at all, the place was getting fairly crowded. My disappointment comes in when we tasted our food. This was just not quality food at all. The tacos were very bland and the cheese on the queso taco was burnt to a crisp. Maybe that was the intent, but it was not tasty at all. There is a huge difference between really good tacos and what we ate here. I am very disappointed and I really wish I knew what everyone else on here actually ate, because this was not even close to the tacos I am used to. Once again, the staff was awesome. I am beginning to believe that the people of San Diego are some of the nicest I have ever seen and met. Bravo to San Diego.
