This place may be great, but I can tell you I am extraordinarily disappointed when it comes to the customer service I received from this business. ESPECIALLY since we have purchased several pieces from them in the past. Before I unload… both times I called in the woman who answered the phone was very helpful and friendly… so kudos to her! They instructed me to send an email with pics. I did. Once on 10⁄30(no response). Then again(per their instruction) on 11⁄27. My mother(whose health is failing) has an entire San Diego estate that I am dealing with downsizing. A lot of expensive stuff that I am trying to find a new home for, much of which we have little records for… other than where it was purchased. I have been in contact with antiques stores as far as Pennsylvania to get information about various purchases and all of them have been extremely helpful, even so much so as emailing me invoices so I have an idea of how much the items are worth. And if they have not been able to assist me, they have referred me to someone who can help. Mission Gallery Antiques is the exception to this national level of courtesy. Now…you may say to yourself, well it isn’t Mission Gallery’s problem if your Mom is ill. Nope, no it isn’t. BUT, since the pieces were purchased there you might think they would lend a slight hand in helping out. You think I am exaggerating??? Please read the following email I sent them and the response I received: ****************************** Dear XXX, I am working to help my elderly Mom sell some attached antiques(with an estate sale coming in the near future). They were purchased at Mission Gallery Antiques in the late 1990’s. She remembers only a small amount about the pieces. We have no receipts. But they were shipped to the following address: XXXXXXXX(the buyer, my mother) XXXX Riviera Dr San Diego CA92109 #2 Victorian Arm Chairs, Purple Velvet, turn of the century(late 1800’s). $ 750/each #1 Armoire w/rounded glass front Pics are attached. We are trying to find the most efficient way to get a reasonable price for them. If you are not interested in the pieces please help me to determine their worth and what you think a reasonable asking price would be. Additionally… I called in today and they mentioned that you are available to come out to homes to help clients perform estate sales??? My Mom has A LOT of stuff and a very poor records pertaining to what things are worth. Your help would be invaluable. Thank you in advance! Warmly, XXXXX ***************************** Here is the response I received: «Hi XXXXXX, your items are not for us.» Are you kidding me? I almost laughed out loud! Did you read the email? I specifically state in the email that even if uninterested, any help would be appreciated. THEITEMSWEREPURCHASEDATMISSIONGALLERY for christ’s sakes. Would have been that difficult to direct me elsewhere or pull the record for the sale? Maybe they don’t keep records, I don’t know. But the response was curt, in fact it wasn’t much of a response at all for that matter. Unbelievable.

This Gallery is top notch. Let’s start with the owners, Randy and Jim. The two of them have more love for art and antiques than anyone I have ever met. They Buy and Sell, so I stopped in with an antique clock. After looking at the clock, Randy taught me about it then made an offer. It was great. I quickly spent the money on an early 19th century painting. Haha. These guys are great to talk to and pleasant to do business with. I’m sure an awesome conversation can spawn with your visit to the Gallery. And The Antiques! So much items to look at and choose from! Stunning paintings, beautiful Jewelry, watches, desks, dining sets, chests, cabinets, dishes, rugs, books, Silver, pottery, sculptures, lamps, glass, early Toys, a plethora of clocks, and so much more. I highly recommend stopping into the Mission Gallery. I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll love.

I’ve bought several fine antique paintings here, we are very pleased with them. This is a must stop when looking for antiques. We stop by at least every couple months to see what new items have come in. The guys that work here are very knowledgeable, maybe the most knowledgeable in the San Diego area when it comes to antiques.

This store is just lovely — from the antiques in stock to the people who work there. Some of the prices were great for good quality antiques, and I cannot say enough positive things about the excellent, friendly, patient, and very helpful owners and other staff. I will definitely shop at this store again.

I thought that this was a cute little store with some beautiful furniture pieces. If you are looking for knick knacks or glass, there is less of that sort of thing here. I found items to be a bit high priced but he had a 50% off of everything sale so that made items more reasonable. I only wish I needed furniture because he has some seriously beautiful pieces! The owner was pleasant and his dog very quiet and sweet. He let me know that there is parking in the back and that I can come in the back door whenever I come… that was good to know as on street parking costs and can be hard to get.

Mission Hills has changed so much over the years that it is hardly recognizable these days. Some changes for the better, some not. Where there used to be several antique shops on Washington Street, about the only one remaining is Mission Gallery; one that, back in the early 1980s, was a pioneer for the industry here. What began as a little red house with a converted garage in the back has become a standard bearer in the antiques industry here in San Diego. It seems to have a never ending inventory of beautiful pieces; everything from armoirs to andirons, tin ware to Tiffany. Lots of paintings, jewelry, art glass, collectables and clocks are all presented by a very knowledgeable and affable team of owners: Jim and Randy. Both of these gentlemen have a knack for finding unique items and are a wealth of information on antiques and collectables. If you don’t see something that catches your eye right away, there’s a possibility that Randy has something tucked away in the garage or attic that you will find you just can’t live without.
