Probably the best sushi and sashimi in actual PB.(OTA is on the«outskirts» =0) Very high quality fish, cut well and served on very good sushi rice. You won’t go wrong with the basics… Tuna, Toro, Salmon/Belly, Yellowtail/belly, Sweet Shrimp, Uni(when available), Unagi, Aji,… in either sushi or sashimi form. The chefs are accommodating and pretty quick. I was there last Sat night and it was packed, as in every table and seat at sushi bar full, but got a single seat at the bar, had a beer and appetizer(yellow tail collar, very good) and my sushi was in front of me in probably 20 minutes the most. They have one big screen TV in the corner that they will put a game on for you if you ask. The woman working the floor aren’t the friendliest or quickest, and the place is certainly not fancy, but hey, can’t have everything! Overall, very solid and reliable sushi.

I stopped in this little restaurant the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the food quality and good service. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, a calamari salad, shrimp tempura roll and California roll. Everything was fantastic and very fresh tasting. It has to be the best shrimp tempura roll I have had in a long time. I will be back soon.

Amazing service and delicious sushi! Definitely one of those«hole in the wall» places but the sushi is fresh and the staff is very sweet. I am usually not into California rolls but the one they have is unreal — so delicious! If upscale or vibrant ambiance is your thing, it is probably not the best place but it is definitely perfect for an easy, comfortable sushi experience.

The service was amazing. The lady who took our order was the sweetest. The appetizers we ordered were great. Try the garlic broccoli. It’s on point. We ordered the dynamite roll, pizza roll and Veracruz roll. The Veracruz roll is so bomb! Spicy tuna, salmon, mango, mango sauce, avocado and a few others. This place is a must try! Yum yums!

On Halloween night, my friends and I decided that we wanted sushi, but nothing too outrageously priced. We did a quick google search and found Mister Sushi. It was very, very good. Not a bad price either. My boyfriend and I got about 7 rolls and the bill was under $ 50 which is amazing. We sat at the bar and had a really good time chatting with each other and the sushi chefs. They were quick to take our order as well! Overall we really enjoyed the rolls and will be going back soon.

I love Mister Sushi! I will never eat sushi from anywhere else. It’s fresh and made with love and fantastic technique. Everything I have ordered has been amazing! We have a custom roll that is to die for and every time it is executed amazingly! The shrimp dumplings are YUMMY! The green tea is the best one I have ever tasted! Definitely try this place! Everything on the specials menu and the specials on the whiteboard are all amazing!

Mister Sushi is my go-to sushi place in PB. It’s always fresh, great seafood. We love the rainbow rolls and seaweed salad. We tend to always get carry out, and it’s always very fast. We are always greeted with a smile and a bow at the door, and the place is usually busy.

Real Japanese sushi chefs that serve excellent and fresh sushi and sashimi. I’ve been to many places in SD and, unfortunately, most aren’t very good nor authentic. This is as close as it get for me to eating in some sushi place in Tokyo. Could care less about the décor or service, the 5 stars are pretty much for the food alone. I come from over 30 miles away for this place.

I ordered my usual Spicy Tuna Roll I get everywhere, and some spicy lobster and salmon hand rolls. At first sight I thought only my usual was going to be good, they totally changed my mind.

I usually don’t write reviews but I was pretty disappointed. First of all, the menu is so scarce they have very limited options of rolls(despite their online menu). Second, I felt very rushed. Third, It took almost an hour for our food to come out, it was soggy and way overpriced. My only experience there, hopefully they can step up their game.

Was pretty excited to eat here, but never actually got any food. I was updated with, «it’ll be out soon» maybe around 2 or 3 times. Wasn’t busy at all, only ordered 1 roll and 1 order of nigiri, yet the wait before I decided to walk out was over an hour.

Quite unassuming location, and if you are looking for a romantic dinner date this isn’t the place for it. But, if you’re looking for some high quality sushi, this is the place for you. I will definitely be returning soon for my sushi fix!

If you are looking for somewhere clean to eat with great service this is not the place for you. We sat at the sushi bar and the pictures below are what I was looking at, which is not very settling. I do have to give them credit for the food. Food was very good. It did take a while for it to arrive, and they forgot my dads roll(pictured) and it arrived after we were all done eating. Employees were not too friendly either. If you are not one for atmosphere I would recommend.

Humble sushi restaurant with good quality nigiri. The staff was welcoming, but sometimes slow on the ball; my waitress forgot about my green tea for a while, and it would take some time to get the attention of the sushi chef despite coming here during off-hours on a weekday. The nigiri was on-point for the cut fish — in addition, some of the best hotate nigiri I’ve ever had was during my visit here. Also had the ika, sake, and mirugai, which all tasted fantastic. However, skip their ikura and their uni — portions were not only conservative, but the quality of their roe and sea urchin were both subpar. Their amaebi was also hit-and-miss; the nigiri portion was delicious, but the heads were so over-fried that they had a charred taste. Overall, while the nigiri tasted great, portions were on the smaller side while being as pricey as more generous sushi places in town — it took more nigiri here than other places in town to get my stomach’s fill. I’m still dreaming of that hotate, but my dining experience was such a mixed bag that I have no plans to come back anytime soon.

Great spot for traditional sushi. No frills, delicious, fresh fish. Tony is the man. If you want something special off menu he has no issues whipping it up for you. We DID get a bit of a surprise when we ordered a Philadelphia roll and found it had smoked salmon instead of fresh. Maybe some spots do this but personally I hate all and anything smoked so I didn’t eat it. No big deal though. We’ll be back for sure.

Don’t let the atmosphere fool you. Deliciously made fresh sushi that didn’t disappoint. The place itself is small and nothing special to look at but sit yourself down at the sushi bar and enjoy watching the master’s create your rolls. Great happy hour specials and very reasonably priced!

I admire the attitude if this small family run sushi place, they sent flyers to the soccer families, offering a significant discount if you came in uniform. Without a plan, we scooped up a few of the other parents and invaded the sushi palace for a celebratory meal. They were able to accommodate our group of 15 without a reservation. It was a nice change from pizza or hamburgers for the parents and the kids were jazzed about the soda fountain and the fortune cookies. The staff was warm and thoroughly entertained by the dynamics of the group.

Please go in here knowing that this isn’t your typical California sushi joint with a ridiculous amount of crazy rolls; however, «Tony» and Naoki will make whatever you want. Put your phone down for five seconds(you are with your friends after all) and just ask. The sushi chef’s here are actual Japanese, therefore their specialty is Nigiri, the rice and fish is significantly better than any other place on Garnet. I lived down the street for two years and tried everywhere in the neighborhood. I kept coming back to these guys. The atmosphere here is quiet with Japanese music playing in the background. Go here, sit at the bar, don’t be a PB douche/douchette, and you’ll have a great experience :)

I enjoy hitting up sushi restaurants during lunch hours to see what lunch special they have available. I came to Mister Sushi with that in mind, and a very nice Japanese server directed me to their moist popular lunch special: The Lunch Box which includes tuna sashimi, chicken teriyaki, a couple of shrimp and vegetable tempura, steamed dumplings, and a side salad.( ) The meal also came with some very good miso soup with several pieces of soft tofu.( ) and well steamed rice. The online price says it cost $ 9.75, but it actually cost $ 12.50. They need to update their web site. Where to start? There was so much food in my bento. Let’s start with the tuna sashimi. The sashimi was vibrant and fresh.( ) The tuna had a rich great flavor that coated my palate and woke up my taste buds. Of course, its flavor was enhanced with the addition of soy sauce.( ) I could of had several serving of this tuna and left happy. The chicken teriyaki was very good and mild teriyaki in flavor.( ) The chicken was tender and had a great char flavor from the grill.( ) I liked the fact that they did not over sauce the chicken. The shrimp tempura was awesome! The tempura was crunchy and well seasoned.( ) The shrimp was a moderate size and remained flavorful and succulent.( The vegetable tempura were good, but they retained a little to much moisture. A common issue with vegetable tempura. The steamed dumplings were good. They were ground pork with minced vegetables.( ) There were only two, but they were tasty little morsels that went very well with the hot mustard.( ) The side salad was okay. It was basic and I thought this could be upgraded with perhaps a pungent ginger dressing, not the runny water ranch.( ) The sum it up, not a bad meal for lunch. I thought it was a bit steep for $ 12.50, but at least the food was quite good, and I actually got full, which is not true for most lunch specials I tackle.
