Omni San Diego

If you’re staying in San Diego for a multi-​day convention, this is a great choice. It’s directly across the street from the convention center and 30 seconds from 5^th St. which is the main drag of the Gas Lamp.
The staff was very friendly at check-​in and accommodated a special request with ease. The room was clean and comfortable and mine had a terrific view of the bay.
As an Omni Select member (which is free to join) I got free wifi, free drinks delivered to my room each morning (or I could get them at the coffee shop), free newspaper and two items pressed for free. Why wouldn’t you join? If you’ve got to be away from home, this place is great. The wifi was fine for using VPN to do work, the TV had plenty of stations and when I went out for dinner, my towels were refreshed and bed turned down. Room service was prompt and the food was very good.
I didn’t bring a car so I can’t say for sure, but I heard you can pay $ 40 for valet service or park in the same garage across the street on your own for $ 15. Worth checking out…
In addition, the hotel is within walking distance of every type of bar or restaurant you want from one star to five. My next SD convention will include the Omni.

My nephew (from Las Vegas) stayed at this fab hotel the week of 1÷22÷16 to 1÷30÷16 and I had to write about the most fab bellman ever — Brendel McDonald. I was attending a baby shower in National City and am from Los Angeles and had agreed to meet my nephew for dinner after the shower at the Omni. I depended on my Maps in my phone to get me to the hotel but my phone died and I just had to ask around downtown San Diego to find the Omni. Once there I could not access my nephew’s phone number as my phone was DEAD and NOT charging with the car charger so Brendel was so kind to take my nephew’s name and call his room for me. SUCCESS!!! My nephew and I had the most wonderful dinner and visit thanks to the kindness of Brendel!!! I will def make a point to stay at the Omni next time I am in San Diego. If Brendel is an example of how the employees there treat their guests and NON-​GUESTS it will be a pleasure to stay there. I was amazed!!!

We loved staying here, check in was FAST, girls at the front were very sweet and put up with the old man pretty well. Someone told him over the phone checking was 1pm and our room wasn’t ready but they got us in another room and listened to his rumble with a good attitude. I was impressed
Our room was cozy, clean and huge. Bathroom was gorgeous. Our room view was perfect.

Came to San Diego for a meeting and decided to stay here. My stay here was the best idea ever. Hands down, the best customer service I ever had. Rooms were very clean and organized. The staff was very courteous. Had an amazing view from my room and I got lots of deals everywhere by simply staying in Omni. Highly recommend it if you’re in San Diego.

This place was amazing. I stayed here last weekend and our stay was perfect. The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely nice. I will definitely stay here again next time I need to stay downtown. It’s is so close to the gaslamp bars and restaurants.

Great staff– fantastic food at McCormick schmick’s, hotel was wonderfully up kept/​modern/​clean/​well designed. Loved the rooms– across the street from main gaslamp district and you can see the entire field inside petco park from the rooms. They were accommodating with our pets– and treated our toddler like a princess with a free gift (cute backpack filled with activity books and stickers!) at check in. Front desk always smiled whenever you walked in–
Only thing I didn’t like was the obscene amount they charged for valet– but the sting hurt less because their doorman and valet attendants were outstanding and so so so nice.

This is by far one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.
I planned a fun one night SD getaway with my boyfriend and we were really excited to stay at the Omni hotel.
When we got there, they said overnight parking with valet is $ 40, which is a bit ridiculous if you ask me… we decided to stay in the parking structure across the street for around $ 15/​day, thank gd for that!
The hotel lobby overall was nice and clean, but he big issues happened once we got to our room. First of all, the sink was leaking and didn’t work properly. Secondly, the shower wouldn’t turn off and was continuously wasting water, which is really sad, especially in this drought. Third, there were mysterious «wet spots» all over our carpet…
If that wasn’t enough, the last and final straw was our next door neighbors in the room next to us. From 9pm to 11am the next morning they were doing some serious «physical activity» in there if you catch my drift — complete with screams, yells and moans — disgusting!!! And it was going on ALL NIGHT LONG!!! These walls between our rooms were paper thin because every time they hit their headboard, it banged our walk since our headboard was on the same wall. And this was happening every 10 minutes — I AM NOT EXAGGERATING! How am I supposed to sleep like that?
When I called the front desk to complain, they said they will send security up there to warn them to keep it down, but it DID NOT STOP. When we called again, they said THE SAME THING. «We will send someone up» but again, nothing.
I understand the hotel was not responsible for be noises, but come on, they need to do a better job of assisting us to have a good night. I didn’t slept more than 2 hours that night!
When I told the front desk as we were checking out, the guy assured me that they will fix this. He said his manager is in a meeting, but that he will call me that day to discuss. We left our phone# and name and i finally had some hope but guess what??? THE MANAGER DID NOT CALL US. Ever.
This hotel is a complete waste of money. I will make sure that none of my family or friends (or Unilocal friends) ever stays at an Omni chain.

First night was awful we were checked in the wrong room. We paid extra for the water view and didnt get it. We had to move the next day, inconvenientIt was obvious that the front desk made a mistake. I asked that we should just be paying for the first night rate the regular deluxe room rate. I spoke to the manager and she said the difference between deluxe king room and premier room is the size of the room. Apparantly she’s stupid because both rooms are the same size it was the view you are paying extra for. Anyways all they did for the incovenience was not charge us for a 1 night valet parking for $ 40 we still had to pay the premier room rate even tho we didnt sleep with the water view we booked. Yay awesome customer service for making a mistake.

Positives:
— I paid $ 70 via Hotwire. I asked to upgrade when I arrived and for $ 75 more, I was in a junior suite with a bedroom.
— The room was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was huge with a nice, standalone shower.
— The living room had a foldout couch.
— The view from the 20^th floor was great.
— We received a $ 25 voucher for McCormick & Schmick’s.
— Internet was free when signing up for whatever rewards program they pushed.
— Pool was heated, so we swam relatively comfortable in 50 and 60 degree weather with wind.
— Hotel gyms suck. This didn’t. Dumbbells went up to 75 pounds, which is a rarity at a hotel gym. Good cardio machines. Good assortment of weightlifting machines.
— Right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. A lot within walking distance.
— We were allowed to bring our pet and only a $ 50 non-​refundable fee. Not terrible.
Negatives:
— A lot of the room was dusty.
— Outdated carpet fraying in a lot of places.
— Had a mini bar fridge selling ridiculously overpriced items like $ 9 Heineken’s. I’d rather see a real fridge I could use. I think you can request one from the front desk.
— No overhead lighting. Poorly lit.
— That free Internet? Yeah, well, if you want more bandwidth, you gotta pay for that, pal.
— That foldout couch that seemed like a positive? Um, quite possibly the most painful sleeping experience ever. Literally no cushion, so you have a better chance of getting shanked when rolling over while sleeping, than in a prison fight.
— There was a monster stain under the couch cushion. Seems like someone spilled something and flipped out without the hotel knowing. Pretty gross. Makes me wonder if they ever changed the sheets on the foldout bed.
— There is construction right now, so we had a lovely dinner with jackhammering as a backdrop. I guess that’s why we paid $ 150 for a $ 300 room.
— Someone ordered a $ 10 gin to our room from the restaurant. Pretty boss move, asshole. Good thing I’m cheap and pay attention to everything. Charge was removed no questions asked.
— Parking is just ludicrous. $ 40 valet? Yeah, no. But you get in and out privileges! Amazing how people will sell you a sack of shit then try to tie a bow on it to soften the blow. There’s a lot across the street that’s $ 1 per hour and $ 15 max per day.
— They allow dogs, but it’s not really a dog friendly place. People in the lobby seemed confused to see a dog. No staff had real recommendations as to where to let the dog out. Most dog-​friendly hotels have a designated area and provide bags.
— Someone complained about our dog barking while out to dinner. We went back upstairs and our keys no longer worked, so they froze us out of the room to warn us.
— A group of monsters stayed in the room next to us one night. We had a door connecting to their room, so it was super loud. They were totally belligerently drunk idiots. One kid couldn’t even talk. He grunted like a caveman for hours on end and vomited on the floor. We called down and they sent someone up to quiet them down, which worked for a few hours, until they started the party back up hours later. This kept my 3-​year-​old up until 12:30 a.m., so I went to the front desk and politely requested they do something or I would. They sent up security to kick out those who weren’t registered. This quieted it down for another 30 minutes or so before that one drunk straggler came in. You know, that drunk who doesn’t know his own decibel level and thinks he can help every situation. He was trying to get the incomprehensibly drunk moron into the shower to save his life and his friends kept shushing him, while he screamed nobody can hear me. The ironic thing is these were probably the people who reported our dog barking.

The EXCEPTIONAL customer service was warm & welcoming. They assisted with all aspects of our stay — parking, zoo tickets, etc.
Clean comfy rooms — quiet environment.

Such a beautiful hotel! The service from the valet and front desk staff was excellent — very courteous! The room was clean and modern. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was huge! Large, plush bath towels. Relaxing shower with great water pressure. Located close to Petco Park, convention center and plenty of shopping/​restaurants are within walking distance. Downside is parking is a bit expensive ($ 40/​night) but include in & out privileges.

My husband and I stayed here after our wedding, beautiful view of Petco stadium and a beautiful view of the San Diego bay. We also received a hand written note of congratulations from the staff a very nice touch. It’s walking distance from the gaslamp, Horton plaza, Petco stadium, and many amazing food spots! I recommend this place for sure!

Location, look and quality of service were great. If you are going to a Padres game, there is no better place to stay since you get the private bridge to the stadium. The hotel restaurant is decent too (McCormick and Shmidt) It’s also walkable to everything downtown (and the convention center)
The bathroom design (which others have mentioned) is odd. And the price of the room is a bit on the high side.
I usually stay in La Jolla when in town would probably recommend that over downtown.

For the price I was hoping the bed would be plush and comfy. Instead it was short, narrow, and lumpy.
Not a great night of sleep. I should have just slept on all the dollar bills it cost me to stay there. :(

Stayed at the hotel couple of days before Comic Con location is great very close to the train walking distance very accessible to the gas lamp district.

hotel very clean pretty cool that is next to the ballpark Thurs art pieces throughout the hotel about the baseball theme in San Diego not a fan myself but was nice art throughout the hotel pool was nice and clean I did not eat at the restaurant in the hotel it seemed to lack something looked like a chain restaurant.
I chose to eat in downtown which was amazing.
I feel that the restaurant should keep it better some how. Maybe offer live music I know they play live music by the pool but is a different atmosphere. But overall very happy with the Hotel very clean rooms and spacious bathrooms great place to stay. If you want a scenic room you have to pay and communicates because you will not get one.

We have stayed at the Omni twice. Pros: Nice, clean rooms, attentive, friendly staff. Great gym. HD TV. Close to Petco with a bridge leading to the Park.
Cons: The bathroom has shutters on the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom area. No privacy whatsoever. Plan on going to this hotel with someone that you are very close to. Carpet in the rooms needs to be replaced. I noticed in both our rooms that the carpet was falling apart. The drain in the shower and sinks is not great. The wall between our room and the next things was so thin I could hear the gentleman snoring all night. Yes, that, right. Thank goodness he was only sleeping or who knows what else we would have heard.
All in all I love Omni resorts. Wish this one had a better restaurant in it. The Hard Rock across the street has two great places to eat.

I’ve stayed here 3 times and really feel it deserves 5 stars. The service is exceptional and friendly, it’s a beautiful hotel, and it’s a marvelous location. One thing I really feel I should note is that the bathrooms have very little privacy. If you are sharing a room with a certain someone, please note that the bathroom situation is… Sexy? There are wooden blinds that pretty much close all the way… But, you’re gonna hear everything.
I love the designs of the rooms, and I love the view. Get a floor that’s high enough and you get a refreshing look at one of the best cities in the country.
There’s a beautiful and romantic pool area.
There’s a little shop at the lobby with snacks, coffee and tea… Etc.
The Omni is my favorite hotel so far in my travels. If you’re looking for a fancy but not out of this word expensive hotel experience, you’re going to love it. I hope to be back real soon again.

Solid! Went here to propose to my girlfriend. At first the room wasn’t ready but Chris and Lexi really helped out s lot! Got me a better room and everything went really smooth!:)

The hotel is located right next to the Petco stadium, train, and convention center, and gas lamp district. Can’t really ask for a better location to have a hotel.
The check in process was very quick and the staff was really nice. No additional charge for roll away bed request that is a very nice amenity to be included at the room rate.
Lobby was very updated and clean, rooms are spacious and clean, views aren’t the greatest but not too bad, pool area is chill kinda slow, but overall I was very happy with hotel and service.
Parking is $ 40/​Night if you valet, or you can save money by parking on the structure in front for $ 15/​Night

Located near the SD Convention Center, the Omni is a gorgeous building with a beautiful lobby that is modern, warm, and clean. The staff checking me in were kind, friendly, and prompt. My room was the epitome of luxury. Large, clean, with very modern but elegant appointments. The bed was soft and comfortable. The bathrooms were plush and full of the conveniences you would expect. All the appliances in the room were up-​to-​date.
The fitness center was excellent with newer machines, clean fresh towels, and plenty to drink.
I was very pleased with the Omni SD.
